Kim: The Christmas season is just around the corner, and WWE is continuing their tradition of releasing a line of "Ugly" Christmas sweaters on WWEShop.com. Which means, we have the annual sweater shoot to review! Now, with Ugly Christmas Sweaters, people either love 'em or hate 'em... There's basically no in-between!
Brie: Oh dear heaven, no. Not this again. Please. I can't even. (Narrator: Clearly, Brie falls into the "hate 'em" category).
Kim: Now, I'm on the polar opposite end of the spectrum here. Yes, they're tacky, and cheesy, and the designs sometimes clash... but for me I say the uglier, the better! Bring it on!
Brie: I love Ruby Riott's pose here. It's like she's asking "Whyyyyy?"...which is exactly my question. Whyyyyy would you attach this mess of color and pattern to your person voluntarily? Even if it does have Ric Flair on it. There are better ways to pay tribute: blind us all with sequins, deafen us with "woos", put me in a dang Figure Four for hourrrrrs. It will all be less painful than this sweater. And also...Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan let her go out on in public like this? Girl need some new friends ...stat.
Kim: Oh Brie, The Riott Squad always sticks together, no matter what! And they are rocking some Legends for this shoot; Sarah with Stone Cold, Ruby with Rick Flair, ad Liv with The Undertaker. Each one has a different colour scheme and I love 'em! The blue and green for Stone Cold's might be my favourite, followed very closely by the purple and black for Taker on Liv. But did you know, these three sweaters even light up? Like, they actually have little lights throughout? How de-light-ful!
Brie: Speaking of Liv, I give her points for the blue tongue. That's fun! Especially set against the black-and-white starkness of an Undertaker sweater (just saying that phrase made my fashion brain spin. "Undertaker sweaters" should NOT BE. The end.) I'm digging the pink hair too. It's amazing how fab these detail look when I compare them to something I deeply dislike (looking at you, Undertaker Sweater). PS Her glasses are super cute!
Kim: Next up, we have Alexa Bliss, Ronda Rousey, and Becky Lynch all rocking their own design. I love the bright, hot pink shade of Alexa's. Also look at the face, it's her classic logo but with a twist... a bright red nose and reindeer antlers. Um, yes! How freaking cute? Becky and Ronda both sport a combination of Christmas trees, reindeer, snow flakes, and other classic tacky sweater embellishments throughout their apparel. Surely Brie, there is something here that you can show some love?
Brie: Ok I found something I like! Thank you, Becky Lynch! The neon peach color of her sweater is amazeballs! It is beautiful and I shall stare at it until this post is over. I would never think of putting this peach shade with her red hair - I'd be afraid it would clash. But it doesn't; it works! Massively! More neon peach on Becky for my Christmas wish, please! (And no more Ugly Sweater 'shoots. EV.ER).
Kim: I love that they picked Bayley to shoot in Finn Balor's sweater, the two are close friends and MMC partners after all. Like Alexa's design, they used Finn's face with a Christmas twist, turning him into the Demon... snowman? Bayley seems to be loving it judging by the smile on her face. With her red and green hair, Asuka already looks ready for the season, and throw in a legendary NWO sweater, she's good to go. I love the bright orange and muted grey colour combination. Though not the most festive traditionally, it's one of my favourites.
Brie: The Boss reps her own merch, complete with sunglasses x 2. I've got to hand it to Sasha Banks for not coming to play games. If only the Santa hat could be deleted, the swagger alone might make me able to square myself with this. Kinda. I mean, like a little bit :). Maybe with some cool denim...no...maybe with some velvet pant..no, nvm...ssskater skirt? (Narrator: Brie's meltdown approacheth).
Kim: In this stunning blue shade, Dana Brooke is running this shoot like AJ Styles runs Smackdown Live. The light blue and white details make this sweater look especially fitting for the winter time. Plus her slicked back high ponytail is simple, yet polished. Mandy Rose stands out in her black and neon colours, Ultimate Warrior pullover. The drastic contrast of brights and dark is so eye catching, I'm totally feeling it. Ember Moon has me thinking that I need to see the real Braun Strowman in a Santa hat, cause this soft grey sweater is kind of amazing.
Brie: Ok, yes..the blue and white is cool on Dana. Now, if only all the wording and patterning could be erased - that would be super cool :) And how has Mandy, the Golden Goddess, come to this? Legends be whatevered, there are precisely zero reasons to wear this sweater. With ANYthing. However, her hair looks fantabulous! I'm gaga over all the volume. That is redeeming. I shall attempt to overlook..no, poor choice of words -why would you want to look - overlook, underlook, accidental-random-glance look? You wouldn't ...so I shall attempt to forget it's existence entirely (Wanted: highly successful hypnotist). I note that pale gray is an incredible color on Ember. I note nothing else; I am trying to not see anything from the yoke down #HowToScarAFashionistaWithASingleGlance I wish very merry festivities to everyone and everything...except these sweaters. They should burn :) (Narrator: imagine this phrase in Brie's best John Cleese voice). #Unapologetic
Kim: Well, while I don't think Brie and I will ever be on the same page on this topic (heck, I think we're reading different books) there's one thing we can agree on... As the holiday season starts, we both wish that everyone has a happy , joyful time surrounded by love, family, and friends. Let the festivities begin! XoXo
Spring brought us a look at Katarina’s style for her return to Impact. This simple, sexy biker-chick look takes me back the accessible, straightforward attitude of her days as Katie Lea Burchill in WWE. The leather vest paired with black skinny denim and knee-high boots appears to be very much in Katarina’s comfort zone. I love how she threw in a sporty touch with her baseball cap; it’s a great way to update this look! We saw her push the envelope in a lot of fun ways as Winter, exploring gothic fashion. I’d love to see her use that same creativity as she evolves her street style.
Gail was looking as gorgeous as ever as she spent time with husband Robert Irvine. The magnificent plum hue makes this dress an immediate standout, and the cutaway at the bust only heightens the effect. I absolutely love this shade on Gail! Although she chose it for spring, it would be equally at home now, paired with other jewel tones – teal or gold spring to mind!
Lana was out and about in April wearing a fierce combination of a black crop top and red latex pencil skirt. I love the way the red and latex take this simple pairing and kick it into overdrive! The latex makes a major statement and Lana carries it off flawlessly. If shining plastic seems a little of your wheelhouse (with you!), try a less bold textural contrast: suede, velvet, corduroy, or a floral print. Pro tip: the ctop isn’t crucial to making this work – any slim fitting top will do nicely. Lana added a gold pendant and completed the look with black ankle strap sandals that have my 100% approval. She literally shone at the ACM Awards in a metallic gold gown by Anya Leisnick! It definitely did not follow the legs or décolleté rule, as it combined an on-trend thigh-high slit with a daring plunge neckline. This could easily get over-the-top, but Lana wisely kept the rest of the styling simple – I love love her stud earrings and tiny pendant! – and that, along with the single, cohesive fabric, allows this look to work. Her dark eyed+flushed cheek make-up look is one of my faves; that classic natural-kicked-up-a-notch vibe always looks amazing! Lana reprised the silhouette in a white midi dress, paired with strappy gold sandals and her shorter hair. The slightly less extreme neckline is more appropriate for day wear and brings a fresh sophistication to this rendition. I love how her black nails add punch to this much more pared-down look.
Apologies ...again :(...for the lack of updates. I've hit another of those periodic runs where I have zero time. It's super frustrating because I have all these ideas and half-started posts for you...grrr. But anyway, I'm doing the best I can for now and I should be getting back to speed after the holiday. ...Speaking of which, I hope you all have an incredible day with great food, great laughs, great times and great outfits...and shoes. Because we *must* have great shoes, yes? But of course! ;) Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! XO!
Lana absolutely SLAAAYS her Team Russia set, in which she pairs a DIY-halter soccer shirt with denim shorts. I think it’s her hair style that really takes these snaps into high gear – this 80’s-esque voluminous side part looks divine in her, both sensual and fierce! Her palest peach lip shade is the perfect accompaniment, giving a glacial sharpness to her look that gives high drama to her look. Since its Lana, there must be a bit of shine (a girl after my own heart :) <3), so she’s added a slim braided belt and a pair of slim chains at her neck. Her black choker coordinates with her strappy sandal-booties which, although I would have preferred if she had chosen one shade or the other of fishnet sock, there is no denying are incroyable. She shows restraint in her poses, not pushing them too hard, and the result is spectacular: a sexy, mysterious vibe with an athletic undertone that, in aggregate, has a massive visual impact akin to being on the receiving end of a goal kick.
Are you ready to be your favorite Lady Superstar? Bringin’ back a former fave feature for a little inspo from Diva-Fierce on how to be her for Halloween!
Want to metamorphosize into Naomi? Grab your neon-est of neon workout wear. Her top colors are bright pink, glowing orange and highlighter lime, but we’ve seen her rock some turquoise and multi-hued looks as well. Finish with bright, fab sneakers and def do not forget about the beauty side of things! Sparkling neon nails and totally fierce eyeshadow are absolute musts! Lastly, you can’t possibly be Naomi without unlocking your own mystical GLOW, so set it free, babes!
Tonight will be a night to remember. We are going to witness Evolution, the first ever all women's PPV put on by the WWE. Superstars from the past and present will come together to make history, and to get us ready for this big night, we've got a brand new photo gallery to review. Now, gear shoots are generally pretty hit or miss, but there's something special about this one, there's a different feeling. These women are coming in Sunday to fight. They're coming to do battle. Why wouldn't they be in their gear? This is their battle armor, the cute dresses and heels can wait for another day. Carmella's bodysuit is one of my favourite ring gear styles, and this bright blue and neon yellow is a killing combination. Paired with her recently dyed locks, the former Miss Money in the Bank and Smackdown Live Women's Champion looks fierce, powerful, and fabulous. Speaking of powerful, that's a perfect word to describe the current Raw Women's Champion, Ronda Rousey. She is definitely ready to go in this all black, fighting inspired outfit, embellished with her nickname in gold. Brie and Nikki Bella both stuck with their signature shade for their gear, with Brie adding some black lace up details and slits, and Nikki made her Fearless logo sparkle and shine. It wouldn't be a Bella look without a flannel tied around the waist and backwards snapback.
I need to take a moment and say that I really love how Charlotte takes the time to share her fashion with us via her Insta. It’s one of the things that has helped me really connect with who she is outside of the ring. Thank you, Char! XO bigly. That said, let’s get to reviewing that fashion :). This spring snap shows off a pairing of a black blazer with denim shorts. It’s distinctive for a couple reasons. First, this kind of high-low pairing (note the satin lapel on the blazer) makes it stand out. I adore this kind of interplay! Swap the shorts for skinny jeans, layer a neutral tee or turtleneck underneath and wear this look right now. Second, this is such a soft, natural make-up palette for Charlotte. We get to see her dolled up and ring-ready quite often, but I love when her natural beauty gets a chance to shine through! Lastly, her hair is completely amazing here; this side part suits so incredibly well! Her next snap gives us a less-than-satisfying view of her take on Alice and Olivia’s Jeri jumpsuit (sadly sold out). This beautiful piece boats sequined floral embroidery and I hope we get to see it again (with a clear full body shot pretty please…because I need to see that shoe sitch:)) I thoroughly approve of the statement-watch-as-accessory, a Charlotte trademark which she employs to great effect. From there, she gives us another Alice and Olivia look pairing a watermelon sequined cami with wide-leg floral pants, both from the brand. The floral+shine is a super-fun pairing that gives me Dolce & Gabbana vibes and I love the way this look adds volume on the bottom – it’s a great silhouette for Char.
Velvet has been releasing a bunch of new pics to RatedV.net. It looks like some of these are sold out at the moment…but we’re going to review them anyway because FASHION :). Looking at these made me smile because they are trademark Velvet: gorgeous, sexy, fun. First up is a straightforward workout gear snap. I love how the pink piping ties these two seemingly disparate pieces together. Velvet completes the pink pop by adding a candy-hued lip. I also love the bright blue background – it sets off Velvet and her outfit perfectly. This is the kind of snap I’d pin up to remind myself to get my derriere to the gym! –it makes working out look so affirming and joyous! Next up is probably may favorite of all the new snaps. Velvet pairs a tied black “Queen” (but, of course, dahling!) tee with a denim mini skirt and rounds out the outfit with black OTK boots. This is one of those classic, spot-on pairings that just slays. It has that breezy girl-next-door grunge-fierce vibe that always gets me. Vel’s pink lip works flawlessly again here. She takes things in a more formal direction with her next snaps, a blue bodycon dress in a mesmerizing shade of bright blue. She added a bold silver choker and a cerise lip that pops beautifully against the blue. This looking-over-her-shoulder pose is stunning too! We don’t get to see her shoes, but I’m imagining silver heels. Finally, she leaves us in no doubt as to her mood with her next look, a pairing of a white tee labeled “savage” and one of her trademark ruffled mini skirts. I love how her sexy, radiant pose and expression contrasts with her shirt’s message; it conveys such a fun duality!
Angelina also took her turn with a workout snap, pairing a camo crop top with black low-waisted shorts. Angie looks amazing as usual – the warm strawberry tones in her hair are gorgeous! As I would expect of a TBP alumnus, she nails her pose as well. Now, if we could just get these ladies together in one snap, that would be some seeeeeerious gym motivation! :)
The last time WWE did a photoshoot celebrating a milestone episode for Smackdown, it was the 500th back in 2009. I know I didn't review the 'shoot because diva-fierce.com didn't even exist yet - imagine that :) The Lady Superstars – Divas, as they were then known..and kind of remain as in Brie’s head :) – broke out a bevy of blue dresses to celebrate the occasion.
I get such Mother Hen feels looking at these snaps. It’s like “awww – my lil’ girls are all grown up” when I see how far these ladies have come! Natalya’s soft blue v-neck sheath looks lovely and she threw a fun vintage-esque touch into her look via her embellished almond-toe pumps. She struck a solid version of a classic pose. The whole look gives us an insight into the woman she would become – her sense of sophistication and shades of Pinup Strong are clear. This is only about two years after he main roster debut and her Divas’ championship, the Divas Of Doom and the Empress Queen of today were all in the future. I can’t help but imagine how she would slay this type of ‘shoot now, with so much more sass and confidence
Maryse also chose a v-neck sheath, going with a saturated sky blue piece and pairing it with strappy nude heels. This sensual aspect of her style was pretty much the whole of what she showed us at that time. Who knew there was so much more to come! Today, she’d keep the sexy dress…and likely reach for yet more fabulous shoes ;).
Maria has always let her creativity and flair come shining through in her photoshoots and being over-the-top is something she never worries about. That she pulls off so much drama time after time is one of the things I love about her! She added a wide black waist belt to her royal blue sequined sheath dress and echoed it via her black peep-toe pumps – I loved the strap detail then…and I still do! She lent extra punch to the look with a fierce hat and added lace fingerless gloves for good measure. I can easily envision her rocking very much this same look today.
Brie hadn’t delved much into her bohemian tendencies at the time of this ‘shoot; her style was mostly casual and feminine. This beautiful square-neck dress with its slightly-puffed sleeves holds up incredibly well! She could easily pop this out of the closet and wear it today (ok, maybe next spring :)) She completed the look with brown leather peep-toe pumps. She nailed a tried-and-true pose – and she’s only gotten better at that over the years!
Nikki chose a long-sleeved faux wrap dress which, like Brie’s selection, holds up very well. She was the only lady to add the spark of another color to her look, rounding it out with red peep-toe heels (bringing a touch of Raw into Smackdown, perhaps? :)) This look feels very true to the fashion sensibilities we see her express today – once a fashion queen, always a fashion queen! Her half up-do is gorge and her stance is fierce! (Naturally :))
In yet another wrestling-themed photoshoot, several Lady Superstars dressed up as their favorite ECW wrestlers. This kind of theme has been a favorite of WWE, going all the way back to 2013 when Natalya won our Silver Snaps Award with her portrayal of Sean Michaels. I loved this idea much better back then when it was rarer, but I’ll take it.
Track pants and an ECW tee: Tommy Dreamer’s trademark ring gear was made for Becky! She looks very much at home in this type of styling, and stays true to Dreamer’s choices, all the way up to his taped hands. She replicates his gritty stare perfectly and the background lighting helps to add interest to these snaps, which makes them particularly appealing.
Lana replicated The Sandman’s signature look of a personalized tank and denim (sometimes track pants). Her choice to go with all-black plays well against the barbed wire and chain link background, as well as the red and blue lighting that somehow creates a grimy atmosphere. She utilizes his trademark prop – a kendo stick – in her poses to good effect. Her work here is stellar, as usual…though I admit to being quite distracted by her gorgeous messy braid!
Welcome to the place where wrestling & fashion join hands. Inspiration. Reviews. Musings. Retros. FASHION. Covering and craving gear to gowns since 2011. May the Fierce be with you! ;) Peace & Glitter!
Brie: shoe-lover :) fashion-lover and generally glamorous semi-dork
