Maria has been teasing us on Instagram with one-offs from a number of her previous 'shoots and saying she thinks it's time to do a new one. (<That. Yes, please!) So while we wait (hopefully not too long :) hint, hint), let's whet our whistle by taking a look back at her top 5 WWE photoshoots. (For those of you who would like to go digging, there are tons of Maria photos, including 'shoots, in the Photos section of her official website, MariaKanellis.com).
#5 goes to this Blue Jean Baby set for it's oh-so-cute girl-next-door feel. I've always maintained that Maria can pull off just about any look and this Top 5 lends credence to that assertion. She softens her trademark dramatic poses into flirting with the camera -generally from the floor, and finds more ways to rock the floor in this one shoot than most Divas have in a career. The fashion works beautifully as well: her ripped flare jeans are casual, but with an attitude - especially with that chain belt!-, while her ruffled crop top in pure, sweet white is a feminine as it gets. She keeps the jewels to a minimum, which is spot on, and finishes the look with...nothing! It's barefoot for this babe, which makes the shoot that much more laidback and fun. Lastly, she gets Fierce points for the whippy ponytail - it's joyful, playful...and gorgeous too! #4 showcases Maria's flair for classy drama in her Dolph's Doll episodes. She pairs a minimalist strapless knit dress with classic ankle-strap heels. A bold crystal collar - always one of my favorite looks with a strapless piece- adds chic sparkle. The drama gets kicked into high gear, though, via her hat/hairpiece and poses! Maria works every ounce of the seductive ice princess with her stares, glares, half smiles and hauteur. The black background is a fitting setting for this histrionic affair with the lens.

The lace-up dress is definitely a thing. Three divas have been caught in one and, by now, you're probably thinking you should be too :). Dresses are fantastic because they're throw-and-go pieces - the perfect thing to wear if you're dashing out the door (I know because I am pretty much always dashing out the door). The lace-up can be styled as you see above: with or without tights, with pumps or boots..and I would add sandals to that list as well. The key is to go for a simple shoe; the lace-up dress is sexy, especially as the plunge gets deeper, so stay with classy-looking shoes (leave the fierce ones home this time) that have little to no embellishment (sorry, studs..and chains and crystals :)). If deep-v's are not your thing (with you there!), you can still wear this style, I promise. Just layer a tee, a thermal, a bodysuit or even a crop top underneath. If you're ready to shop, here are three options to get you started from Nasty Gal, Urban Outfitters and Guess Factory. (PS more info about Eden's dress is on her Insta account).
If you find yourself neeeeeeeding a pair of cray hot booties rn, you'll def want to check out these FIERCE Wrapped In Bliss booties from Amazing Lace, worn by Summer. The closed-toe helps them be workable for winter, if the weather isn't tooooo hideous :) (unless, of course, you're like me and say "frack the cold, I'm wearing the hot shoes" ;)). They're a really fun addition to mini or midi dresses, or cuffed jeans. If you wear them with flared jeans at full length, the tops of the bootie will be covered, letting them double as a pair of black pumps. Nice! Lastly, they're quite affordable for a pair of shoes that are this versatile. Win win :)
It's SUMMER! ..in India. Literally. Here, not so much. Ha :) ...Okay, enough with the bad jokes. We really do have Summer in India here...in photos. She can't actually be here and in India at the same time. #BrieTriesToStopBeingAnnaInFrozen Her first look is a fabulous, casual look, pairing a high-low tee (could be done with a sweater too) over colored leggings What really makes the look sizzle is the accessories: her zippered suede OTKs and that fun multi-colored scarf that ties everything together. Can you say "fashion blogger style"? I can! Her next offering is completely different: a knit sheath in a stunning shade of blue, accented with a notch cutout at the collar and crystals at the sleeves. The dress is simple, but formal at the same time and a fitting way to express respect for her Indian hosts. She brings the fierce with these super-hot lace-up Wrapped In Bliss booties from Amazing Lace which add some attitude to her glamorous look. Finally, I couldn't resist blathering about this beautiful sari that Summer snagged on her trip. The colors and gorgeous soft, watercolor-esque pattern are just magnificent! Traditionally, these garments were made of silk (many still are, but there are now other options available as well). They can be tied in over 75 different ways! Pretty amazing, huh? :)
Lana also graced us with a couple of looks, both showing off her apparently new-found love of lace tights :). The first is a sheath dress in deep olive. The turtleneck design gives the dress a mod-60's flair, which Lana plays up with her OTKs and then softens a bit via the lace. Her next outfit is a coord set gone wintry - with long sleeves and, again, a turtleneck. The red wine color of this is super pretty and just the kind of warm tone I love on gray days. This time, Lana finishes things off with ankle booties...and one of her signatures: a fur jacket. Guess you can take the girl out of Russia, but you can't take the Russian out of the girl ;) Who says maxi skirts are just for summertime? ;) True, I love wearing them then because they're cool and comfortable. But they can be just as comfortable in the winter and they make such a nice change from pants! (I know a wonderful tailor with a fabulous European accent who can complain delightfully about how women wear pants way too often. She has a point lol ;) ). Plus, maxi's are available in enough colors, fabrics, patterns and prints to fill a Cave of Wonders, making them the perfect way to do something different! So, how do I make my maxi's winter-ready? Instead of a slip (gasp, yes, it is still appropriate to wear a slip under skirts :)), I wear leggings underneath. See? Simple. Easy. Comfy. Stylish. Boom. Brie Bella recently sported a colorful floral version of the full-length skirt and, while Nikki's choice was a pencil shape, there's no reason why we can't re-envision it as a maxi. Both girls paired their bright-hued bottoms with black tops, which is a great, staple way to balance a lot of color. To make the looks cold-weather-ready, skip the sleeveless-ness and go for a V-neck sweater or cropped chunky knit. Keep the boho flavor of Brie's look by adding a cozy faux-fur vest or corduroy jacket. Velvet will work as well, bringing in a really fun, vintage texture. Nikki's modern glam gets a casual spin via a classic denim jacket in black (you can also do chino or leather). For both looks, I've kept things a bit more carefree than polished by finishing the look with booties: studded suede for Brie's boho version and pointy-toed leather for Nikki's mod-cool-girl look. Hope this inspires you to #GoMaxi sometime soon :) Happy styling!
Nikki and Brie were busy promoting Total Divas this last week (the first episode of the new season aired 1/19. Check it out on Tues nights on E!) and consequently, we got some rather fabulous outfits :) First, from the episode itself, we saw Brie in this cute black and white checked cut-out skater dress from Charlotte Russe (sadly, no longer available, although the brand is carrying a few similar styles), Gingham made a huge splash on the spring runways so expect to see a bit of it floating about in a month or two ;). It's such a cute, fun pattern but simple enough that it can work as a neutral too. The Bellas then cranked the fashion into high gear, with Nikki turning to current Bella-fav brand Alice & Olivia for her sequined jumpsuit - a stunner of a piece which offered a wonderful mix of trendy and glam. Nude peeptoe pumps warmed the look, while keeping it daytime-appropriate. Brie chose a metallic snake print jacquard dress from Topshop (info on both of the Bella's pieces can be found at fashionofthedivas). When you say "metallic snake", it sounds really wild and over-the-top, but this version is super pretty: soft, dreamy and beautifully feminine - with just a touch of wild heart thrown in :) Brie's silver pumps complement it flawlessly, picking up the dress's shimmery cool shades and contrasting with the glimmering warm tones.
Welcome to the blackout...no, it's not due to a snowstorm. It's simply that every outfit we're appreciating today is black :). No guesses as to why: black is the chic color. Always and forever.
I love how Stephanie chooses dresses that skim without clinging! They can be few and far between these days and she has a talent for picking them out. This one is especially unique and sophisticated, with it's tear-drop cut-out neckline and gold chain detailing. That makes the dress so special! She accents it with delicate, but statement-making earrings that echo the cutout shape and a bold gold cuff. The whole look is classy and polished. And that ponytail? I'm heaven! It looks stunning and adds a perfect touch of sleek casual-ness. We get two looks from Barbie this week, thanks to her instagram. One is the seen-everywhere coord set. This one is a crop-top and maxi pairing, the latter featuring a so-hot-right-now high leg slit. Those are sexy, but require care not to be overdone. I've mentioned my rule before: below mid-thigh or say goodbye :). What I love about this look is how Barbie elevates it to FIERCE with those scalding booties. #HowShoesMakeAnOutfit101. Lace-up dresses seem to be trending lately among divas and former divas. Last FashHap, Lana did one. This time, it's Barbie's turn. She can carry off this daring style and I'm huge fan of the way she made it more formal with her ultra-classic metallic pumps. For the rest of us trying to pull this off in public, I would recommend stealing a page from the playbook of Wendy at WendysLookbook.com and layering a lace bodysuit or tee under this. |
