WrestleMania rolling around means it's SPRING....woohoo! And spring somehow always equates to flowers somewhere in fashion. Prints have been strong for several seasons and show little sign of slowing down. Fashion reinvented them this past winter, bringing in the dark floral look, with deep colors, which is appropriate for both fall/winter and gothic-femme looks done the rest of the year (think AlexanderMcQueen and you'll have the idea). The Divas are definitely fans of florals, choosing dresses, rompers and tops with variations of the print. There's no denying florals are fun to wear - it's like having a garden right on your body! I dare you to feel sad with such a print comprising part of your outfit!

Like Jojo, Alicia gives us two different looks in this shoot. What I love is that both of her outfits have a streetwise, superhero vibe to them. This first one is my favorite of the two. I love the edgy, sporty mesh top; it gives a wonderful, raw, athletic vibe to the look, especially set over her black bralette. Black jeans complete her ensemble. I also ADORE her necklace. I'm not sure if this is a purchased piece or a DIY pairing of a crystal pin with a cascade of black ribbon. (If the latter, maybe Foxy would consider giving us a video tutorial!). Either way, this looks AMAZING! It reminds me of a Lanvin piece and gives a fantastic vintage-glam shading to the look, adding complexity in a super cool way.
Natalya also picked a look that works for a superhero shoot - a leather peplum top and pants, paired with leather pants and studded elbow gloves/ This is a reprise if an outfit we saw her wear on television awhile back, so it may fall into the "photoshopped on to the background" category, but I really like the fact that, unlike some other ensembles, this one fits the theme. I'm also head-over-heels for Nattie's 60's-esque back-combed hairstyle and I'm soooo glad we got a shoot with it. This retro style is gorgeous and has a definite "dangerous woman" vibe. If only she'd gotten to explore this idea further...like with an art gallery and laser lights and a world-altering weapon she'd stolen just before escaping on her custom-built supersonic air-glider ;) The highlight of Sasha's pics is the way she worked the poses...and nailed some great ones! I look forward to her continued work in front of the camera, as she has a special flair for creating snaps that I can only see improving with time. I like this pairing of coated denim with her (available here on WWEshop.com #ShamelessPlug) Legit Boss tee. She accessorizes with her trademark sunglasses in red and her Boss necklace and basically nails the character and attitude. What I wish is that she was allowed to do this as a separate shoot, rather than jumbled in with this superhero set. This has the makings of a superb character set - and I also loved her Instagram variation where she added a red fur cape!- and it really should have been allowed to stand on its won. Iiiiiiiit's almost heeerrre! The Bella Twins are launching their new brand: Birdiebee. If you watch Total Divas, you already know that Brie and Nikki have been working on this for some time and it's finally happening! Birdiebee is a lingerie line created by the ladies with a unique pay-it-forward component. Make sure to follow the brand's official twitter: @birdiebee for as-it-happens info on the launch.
Update 7.30.16: For every pair of undies purchased, the brand will donate one to a girl in need. Brie and Nikki are currently planning a September launch, to coordinate with Fashion Week. Update 3.10.17: Finally, a bit of news! The ladies are working on their branding for this line so that it not only is about the product - the long-awaited lingerie -, but also has a feminine care aspect, offering information and inspiration. They intend to launch the line in Fall 2017. Update 7.16.17: Nikki wore some of the line as part of her ESPY's outfit a few days ago, which seems to confirm the fall launch timeline. Fingers crossed! Update 11.4.17: BirdieBee is here! And shoppable :) More info and link HERE. You neeeeeeeeed stripes this season. Like, will go toes up without stripes. A bevy of trends, from French Chic to maritime to Americana, all incorporate the stripe in some form or other. The Bella twins took up the stripe mantle recently, with Brie sporting a wide yachting-club or rugby gear type and Nikki going with a narrower version. Both ladies went with denim on the bottom; Brie paired her navy-and-white top with classic blue jean cutoffs, while Nikki matched hers with white. I've re-imagined both these looks with spring-weather-appropriate pants, instead of shorts. And, although I've used navy stripes, I'd love either of these outfits with red or black! Brie's look gets brightened a bit with lighter wash denim. This pair is distressed but non-distressed works too. The crux of this ensemble is the interplay between the stripes and the polka dot blazer. Similar colors, different scales: this how you mix prints like a boss! If you own a floral jacket, def give that a try. Florals and stripes are amazeballs. If you don't own either a dot or floral jacket, ...get one now! ...Just kidding :). Use a solid jacket instead (you do have one of those, right?) and a floral or dot scarf or pocket square. Finish with lace-up heels or bowed ballet flats. Alternatively, pair your striped tee or sweater with sailor pants for a nautical feel. I've done practical navy, but if you're brave (read: "not a stain magnet like me"), feel free to do bright, gorgeous white a la Nikki. Play up the walking-on-a-French-quay idea by finishing with loafers. A cobalt shade makes a fun exclamation point, as would red or a metallic. Don't hesitate to tie a short square scarf at your neck for an extra punch of color. This is also the place for a bright red, coral or orange lip and nails. Hope you #GetStriped sometime soon :)
In response to my requests for more photoshoots (ok, not really...but I did tweet a couple people :)), WWE has released this Batman v Superman-themed photoshoot, featuring a plethora of Divas. The 'shoot's photos used a background that matched that of the movie poster, with a few special-effect sparks added as well. The lighting was quite interesting, especially for a WWE 'shoot, and brought extra dimension to the pics in terms of light and shadow and a cinematic feel. There is an interesting mix of pictures gathered here. Some fit the theme quite well and some look as if they were fashion 'shoots where the Diva was photoshopped onto the background.
Lana's pic fits the latter category. Fortunately, it detracts little from the quality of the shot. Between her all-black ensemble, which pairs her trademark cropped jacket with a bodycon LBD, and her bold collar necklace (which I am pretty sure is this piece from J. Crew), her outfit is cool, polished and stylish...in other words, everything we've come to expect from our fav ravishing Russian :). We get a couple of pics from Jojo and I really love how she used two very different looks to convey the duality between Batman and Bruce Wayne. Her leather fit-and-flare dress nods to the black rubber of the superhero, while her bold windowpane bustier -paired with slim pants- suggests the power and seductiveness of the playboy billionaire. And the differences don't stop there. She contrast flowing curls with a slicked down hairstyle, free-flying red nails with buttoned-down white and cranberry lips with warm peach. She gets serious Fierce points for putting so much effort into showing the two opposite sides of the character. Great work! Paige has found another leopard-lined jacket to wear for us, this one a black leather moto style. She pairs it quite simply with a black semi-sheer tee and black jeans. The most superhero-y element here is her fingerless gloves. It's her character and the attitude she conveys via her poses that sell these snaps; somehow, I can ttly envision Paige as a superhero...with some anti-hero tendencies :). Can't you? Lastly, I applaud her use of an ice pink lip! It's unusual among the divas in general, but after Paige's love affair with the taupe lip, it's almost shocking to see it on her. A little shock now and then is a good thing :). If you've been a very, very good girl lately...and happen to have an extra grand or two to toss about, you can now avail yourself of this amazing pair of lace-up studded sandals, worn lately by Barbie Blank-Souray and known to abject shoewhores the world over as the Valentino Rockstud sandal. The entire Rockstud line has pretty much stormed the fashion world in the last few seasons and if you are currently trying to figure out how many bank accounts you need to close out to get a pair of these, I am right with you! The delicate lace-up adds a sexy, feminine feel to an already crave-worthy piece of footwear. Hubba hubba. It's available here at MyTheresa.com in the metallic taupe shade shown, as well as black and nude.
So this is Paige's semi-standard black-on-black look, but I really like her use of the plunge front top here. She's not showing much skin with the rest of her outfit, which keeps the look classy, and the deep-v acts as the one dramatic element. This is exactly how a deep v should be done.
Right after black, the next most classic color is red! It's hard to go wrong with a vibrant LRD, like the one Maria's rocking here in a v modelesque pose. Wouldn't you love to see a photoshoot in that...perhaps with a pair of killer black heels. #Daydreams I also ttly adore her next look - it's great to see the ladies do causal looks too. I enjoy the mix! The roll-tab sleeves, which are quite hot atm, make me think this is a silk shirt. The roll tab is incredibly helpful for keeping them in place. If that's true, I'm in heaven. Silk+denim? Oh yaaaaas! What a fabulous mix of textures: luxurious, flowy silk, and tough, hardworking woven cotton make a glorious casual-chic pairing. It's hard to tell from the lighting if this is black or navy, but it matters not. They are equally amazeballs in this instance. It looks to me like Becky is seriously stepping up her style game! She's paired a graphic tee with patched jeans (the fabric showing through the tears in the denim looks super cool!) and completed the look with these wrap knee boots by Free People ( and almost sold out at Asos). This whole outfit comes together flawlessly. It has great cohesiveness, in terms of colors and elements, even though it looks like it isn't trying hard at all. Brava, Becks. Oh, this American Apparel bodysuit! It's going to be as famous as that studded crisscross top of Nikki's that pretty much the whole Divas' Division wore at one time or other. Charlotte excavated it for this recent tv appearance. She took a much different route to styling it than has been done previously. |
