It's kind of impossible for me to say how much I love blazers and jackets. They top off my outfits pretty much 80-90% of the year. They make life so easy..it's just like BAM: instantly polished and pulled together. So many times, I've tried to top an outfit off with a sweater and it just won't come together. Then, I switch to a blazer and it's like magic. So, I'm pretty sure this love affair isn't going to end any time soon :). Brie seems to have one going on herself. This Feb look of hers was the point of departure for one idea here: an open blazer above a slightly longer heathered gray tee, paired with light-wash denim. What makes this outfit stand out is the mix of pale neutrals. The lighter colors are undeniably spring-worthy. I've envisioned keeping that brightness going with metallic silver heels, but you could finish it with nude flats just as easily. Or, add a brightly colored shoe for an extra pop. If, like me, you're the type that needs a second sliver of color too, try a scarf or a pendant. On the yang side of this little light-and-dark demo we've got going on is this leggings and sweatshirt pairing. With gray sneakers, this looks like just another slightly chilly day at the gym. Until...:) ..behold the beauty of the blazer. It has the power to instantly elevate a look. It takes this ensemble from gym-look to casual restaurant, movie night out, exploring downtown. Two caveats if you're taking this look for a spin: 1)avoid sweatshirts heralding your favorite sports team or one borrowed from your boyfriend. Something a shade more refined is required, minimalist in feel, body skimming in fit and 2) make sure the blazer is longer than the sweatshirt. Finish it with a layered selection of your fav personally meaningful necklaces.Happy Blazering! :)

I know, I know...I do a lot of shoes here. It's just..I'm good at shoes. Like Carrie Bradshaw, "Men I may not know, but shoes? Shoes, I know!" :) If you're in love with Charlotte's style, smile, 'cuz you can get your hands on these blush cutout pumps she wore to the recent WrestleMania 33 Press Announcement. They're the Abi 3 by Kendall+Kylie and they sport a really fun and unique swooped silhouette at the sides. They are available here at zappos.com...and not only in blush! Black, white and a gorgeous blue are also among the offerings. Best of all, these are an affordable pair - not bargain basement, but not Louboutins either ;). Don't get me wrong, I looooove getting rhapsodize over my fav ladies wearing stuff I dream about...but's it's also a jazz to see them in things I can actually work into budget!
We stroll on into March with a bunch of spring-inspired styles from the ladies of wrestling. You can't get more spring-ready than something yellow (I actually consider yellow appropriate for any season, but that's my little personal addiction showing through :)). Brie gives us a whole gown's worth of yellow, with this printed blouson-style piece. I love how the cutout halter style gives it a modern feel, while the rest of the dress speaks the language of vintage. I also love how Brie jumps right on this meet-n-greet as an excuse to wear something that's not jeans or leggings! It's so easy to just fall into the same old, familiar routine and fashion should never be that blasé! Happily, there's nothing blasé about Natalya's LBD, worn at the same event. The buttoned-over wrap style (a nod to Diane von Furstenburg) is dramatic and sexy. That's helped along by the carefully placed cutouts. Nattie's choice of flowy, tassel earrings adds the perfect touch of playful femininity to this look. Brie completely kills it with this denim jumpsuit! It's a superb combo of casual (big, worker-overall-type pockets), chill fabric) and sleek (cap-sleeves, razor-slim deep-v). Best of all, she gives it her trademark boho flare via her accessories - a long pendant, a pile of beaded bracelets and a slim ribbon belt (PS this would be SO easy to DIY. Just find he perfect ribbon at a fabric store - you're looking for something with some heft and body, about like a sneaker lacing - and knot the ends. Pull the knot to each end of the piece, fold over and sew or glue in place). It's the warm, caramel brown shade that lends the earthy, boho flavor to the look. Neon color would make it much more pop and modern, while black would make it cool and polished. Cool and polished (am I slaying the segues today or what? ;)) is what we see from Lana as she pairs a piped polo shirt with a black pencil skirt. I'm a massive fan of polos, and it's a thrill to see a fashionista making them au courant. Their dressy-sporty vibe is very appropriate for the 80's tinges that fashion is picking up. And they can be much more than preppy. The trick is in the pairing. The pencil skirt elevates this one, while Lana's lace-up pointy toes ramp up the sexy side. She finishes it with bold gold jewelry for a minimalist statement, while her whippy ponytail adds both pretty polish and a dash of attitude. Red lips and nails bring in just a pinch of eye-catching color.
Barbie Blank is officially married!!! Awwwwww :) And, as expected, she did it in style! Her rehearsal dinner gown was the gorgeous confection on the left: an enthralling combination of artsy crochet and soft white satin with a sexy thigh-high slit.
The tropical beach setting of Cabo provided the paradisiacal background for Barbie and Sheldon's event. The ceremony took place under a gauze-curtained, flower-bedecked tent on the beach. Bouquets in the couple's chosen color scheme of ombre pink hues also filled the pavilion where the dinner and dancing took place. Sheldon's navy tuxedo was polished, yet a bit more relaxed than black, (i.e. perfect for a beach wedding). Barbie's magnificent wedding gown immediately put me in mind of classic romances...sweet, lovely lace and a magnificent mermaid style (sensing a trend with that shape? You sense right! It's everywhere lately.) I love the sweetheart neckline and the extra touch of lace at the strappy shoulders. Once Barbie turns around, the spritz of modernity she loves to spice her style with can be seen: this sweeping, low back. It's a perfect cut - low enough to inject a bit of allure, but still classy. The long train on this gown is completely fabulous! It's frothy and flowy, like a white-capped wave, coming home to the sand. With elegant and on-trend low knot and her au courant crown+veil combination, Barbie looks just as every bride dreams of looking on her wedding day: stunningly flawless and exquisitely happy! Her other choices also reflect a classic, romantic feel. Her bridesmaids' gowns, as modeled by Maryse, are almost without embellishment, but have an Old-Hollywood-glamour type silhouette and a dreamy pale pink coloring that speaks perfectly of love. Barbie kept the pink theme going with mixed rose pink and white shades for the bridemaids' round bouquets, while her own included touches of cerise. This recent look of Nikki's made me think about lace. For years, I stayed away from it because it felt too feminine to me. I was afraid of not looking strong, so delicate, flowery, gorgeous pieces were not something I embraced, even though I loved their beauty. I even went as far as buying it - I remember an ivory lace tank that sat in my dresser for years ;). I just never managed to actually wear it. It's only recently that I realized lace and it's ilk doesn't have to be all cupcakes and froufrou. The trick is to toughen it up a bit by pairing it with an alternate texture and vibe. Nikki's done that here by matching this delicate blouse with leather slim pants. Leather is quite possibly the ultimate way to give lace some attitude, but there are others. Borrowing from Harley-rider culture is one way to go. A biker-type jacket can be done in other materials - suede, twill or even a knit- and still pack a punch. here's I've imagined it paired with skinny moto pants (leggings will do, if they're of the slightly polished variety - no plain yoga-type ones, please. Save those for the gym ;)). You could also go with cropped or rolled black denim. Finish the look with don't-mess-with-this-gal black knee boots or killer heels (peeptoe booties, lace-up stilettos, strappy sandals. Bonus points for anything with studs ;)). Another look that toughens lace up is a military influence. This often represented by a hardware-heavy jacket, which can also include strong embroidery details like epaulets. It can also be called a band jacket, referencing the marching musicians that enliven parades and homecomings :). Gobs of pant types can work with this look: tuxedo-striped leggings, slim ponte pants, boyfriend chinos or flared denim, as I went with here. Paired with platform ankle-strap sandals give this a 70's groupie-muse vibe, but knee or OTK boots will accentuate the rugged side of the style. Plain black pumps are always appropriate too and give take the style into classic-chic territory (never ever a bad thing). PS both these looks work just as well with colored lace as with neutrals. So, if you already love lace, I hope you have fun playing with some of these looks. If you fear lace, now is the time to face said fear ;). Trust me, you can rock this! #HardBittenLace
We're kicking off this FashionHap with a blackout :). Brie, Natalya and Paige celebrated Oscar night in thoroughly appropriate and fabulous dresses! Natalya's fluid mermaid gown has a sporty vibe, due it's strong, clean cutouts at the shoulder. Her long, curled locks fit the easy glamour of this dress. As always, she's trendy and chic! We don't get to see a lot of Paige's gown, but the fact that she's wearing one is super cool. Her distinctive street-edged style is amazing, but I also love when divas stretch their own boundaries and do something unexpected. So, seeing her dress up is a total thrill! Of course, black would be her color; it walks the border between darkness and sophistication. Brie's dress shares several characteristics with Natalya's - cutouts and that magnificent mermaid shape. Subtle details, like the mockneck and cap sleeves, make her choice feminine and classic. These three make a fabulous Oscar-night-worthy trio!
Renee's all-black look is just jaw-dropping: she matches a trendy pleated mini skirt and cami with a statement crochet sweater. The black-on-black ensemble gives this styling extra impact. It's modern, strong and absolutely beautiful all at once. Her stunning up-do is the perfect complement! Charlotte got the "wear black" memo as well, as she paired a cap-sleeve top with a fun sheer detail and denim flared jeans. One of my favorite aspects of this top is that it's interesting without being too flashy. Sometimes the sheer detail can go overboard, but this one makes just enough of a statement! You could easily pair it with rolled skinny jeans and heels, or a pencil skirt, jacket and flats. I also love the softness of her half-up/half-down hair style; the tendrils floating around her face are so so pretty! WWE recently released a tribute to the ultimate show of strength: The Flex! After a veritable drought of photoshoots, we finally get a couple of cute shots of a great group of ladies showing off what they busted their bums to earn: big guns. Paige wears her original studded gear ensemble, paired with open-weave, spider-web-esque fishnets. I love how she warmed her lip shade from taupe to sandy peach - it's still fierce and makes a nice detail change-up. Charlotte wears her cotton-candy-hued gear, accented with crystals and her trademark studded belt for a fun blend of girl, tough and glam. Her make-up absolutely smashes it out of the park here. It was the first thing that caught my eye. Pastel rose eyeshadow and iced pink lips are completely, undeniably GORGEOUS on her! PS the pastels are ttly on-trend too #LookToTry. Renee's tangerine lips create a perfect pop of color against her gray ensemble and pick up the multi-hued bright shade sin her belt. If left to my own devices, I probably wouldn't choose a shirt promoting rice and tuna, but I do utterly adore this pairing of a super-casual tee with a cute wrap skirt. It's elevated by the polished pairing of grays and style-defining accessories.
