Mandy offered us some memorable highlights through the winter. This blue-tinged gray two-piece dress hugs every curve! It's from Fashion Nova, which offers pieces that seem to be more to the fast-fashion side, a boon if you need a plethora of trendy outfits and likely one reason why Mandy's a big fan. Mandy has a predilection for pairing this kind of trendy piece with haute couture shoes, a pattern she follows here. These navy-and-white platform t-strap stunners are from Gucci and featured studded embellishments on the strap. (Anyone feel like blowing a tax refund with me? ;) Yes, I am that friend). If I were her, I'd pair these with EVERYthing too. In fact, I might not even need an outfit ;). She turned to Fashion Nova again for this piece, an ivory jumpsuit with a plunging v-neck. It's simple, except for the dramatic silhouette, which I find appealing. She kept the look monochrome by completing it with pale beige pumps. The platform style plays up the 70's feel of the look. If you're re-creating this outfit for an event or date night, make it cool-weather-friendly by tossing a long coat or duster-length trench over your shoulders (or wearing it unbuttoned and flowing). The fashion in Mandy's next shot is pretty plain: halter crop top, shorts, white wedge sneakers. Modern, sporty...and even though it's well-edited, still powerful! I just had to share this because it looks so dang freaking amazing! I love her poofed ponytail and her serious expression, and the way the light and shadow plays in this snap - just gorge! Def gym inspo right there! The last snap in this set - also from a photoshoot - is another of those "so hot I had to share" ones. This laser-punched suit is sexy as heck; it's like a modern, sleek, tough-as-nails eyelet! I would definitely have trouble keeping this super-deep plunge in place - even with the pair of crossed straps, but Mandy carries it off no prob. With her side-swept hair, this puts me in mind of throwbacks to the days of WWE's Tropical Paradise 'shoots and vids with Lita, Trish, Jacqueline and their compatriots.

Ok, so I know Wrestlemania is this weekend (Go Taker! sorry - had to get that in there ;)) and I promise I will abso def cover AAAAALLLL the fashion from that. Doing so in a timely fashion is #Goals. I feel like all I'm doing is apologizing lately; I feel so badly for not keeping up. My life is just crazier than I could ever have imagined right now. You wouldn't believe how many posts I have in the planning and partial stages that I just cant get to grrrr. Anyway, I'm here, I'm working, and I *will* get to it all somehow. 'k 'nuff b!tch*ng. FASHION. Let's do it.
A few of these Masterposts are going to be combos because some of these ladies only share tidbits with us, but whatever, right? We'll enjoy and smidgeon we get! First up is Alexa with a couple of cute outfits. The first is a look that reprises a styling we've previously seen: mini skirt+boots+leather jacet. Here, she used a polka dot mini and topped it with a slogan tee. This pairing is has such a great girl-meets-tough vibe! And I totally love the way it suits Alexa's personality. Her tights make it cool-weather friendly. Plus, it utilizes a skirt in such a carefree, laidback way that it makes it easy to vary the ubiquitous leggings scene. The coup de grace is her studded knit hat, which brings a big statement pop, while still carrying the chill-rocker chick feel - kind of like a 90's Avril Lavigne. She switches things up for her next look, going with black denim. Another slogan tee tops it , but she goes for a white, black and red varsity jacket/bomber, instead of leather. A taupe studded knit add brings the attitude here in a similar way to her previous use of one. I could have been a shade happier if she's done black again instead of the taupe, but the rest of her outfit is so neutral that it works. Wedge sneakers finish the look with sporty flair. Allie also graced us with a trio of fab put-togethers. The first is a gorgeous crop top and maxi skirt pairing in black, accented with sheer fabric and crystals. This is such a great way to do an evening look - it's restrained, with just enough glamour to have presence. Her side braid is gorgeous, as is her bold eyes-meet-pale lips make-up. Anyone looking for prom inspiration could start here! Allie's next outfit incorporates her favorite peplum-style top, paired with black leggings and sage suede OTKs. The stunning square neckline of her top lends itself to a wide choker. The look is on-trend and super cute. PS it could easily be finished with black leather pointy OTKS too ;). Her last outfit reaches back to late summer, but I had to call out this lovely combo of scalloped lace and blue denim. It's frothy, but casual, feminine but confident and I love it! I'd complete this look with nude pointy pumps. I swear divas live in either denim or dresses..and leggings..maybe the occasional skirt, right? It's so rare that we get to see them rocking suit pants (outside of a select few) or chinos that I *had* to snag this opp to do a chino-utilizing Insp Board - especially because twill/chino/khaki is hot hot hot in fashion rn. It's one of those utilitarian fabrics that's always classic, but has particular moments when its star rises high and this is one of them. Barbie's look in this snap is unusual in another way too: her cardigan! How often do we seen divas in this iconic piece? The button cardi often has a sweet and prim vibe, but let's not forget how breezily sultry Marilyn made one look! Barbie's iteration, from a recent photoshoot has a similar easy femininity to it that's appealing - and super spring-worthy due to the colors. Her look pairs blush with a sun-washed olive shade. Me being me, I swung that over to yellow for a candy-colored, romantic pairing - but def give the olive a go, if that's more your jam :). It's tempting to just throw a simple tee underneath (which can totes be done - just make sure you throw a little zing in there somewhere: a silk scarf knotted at your neck, statement earrings, noteworthy shoes (we'll get to that)). Fashion has been lately obsessed with gorgeous blouses - if you have one, throw it beneath your cardi for something different and fun. Pull the sleeves back a touch and let the blouse's cuffs show. This is especially fun if they have a bell shape or special detailing, like lace, scallops or ruffles, but if they're standard button-down cuffs, it's all the more reason to let them show; flip them backwards toward your shoulder and let them flow like wings at your wrists. If your cardi is hip height or below, go for slim or straight chinos. With hip height or higher, experiment with the au courant wide-leg styles. And now the best part :shooooooooes ;) Not that I love shoes too much or anything. Ok, maybe a little. Barbie adds a wonderful twist to her look by finishing it with floral heels that include both the shades (close colors are fine; matchy-matchy not required ;)). I'm 100% on board with the heel thing, but because this look is so laidback, you can def get away floral sneakers, if you've added a pair to collection :). If floral footwear just isn't in your life yet (or never will be :)), consider a color here ( a bright version of the hues you've used will work), or a different print. Nude/blush/beige shoes are an always do-able and classic option has well. Happy styling!
WWE has put together a gallery showcasing every lady champion that ever was, including all the various iterations of the belt(s). It's a fun look back to the past, highlighting some of the division's pioneers - The Fabulous Moolah, Alundra Blayze - as well as more recent ladies who paved the way for today's champions. From a fashion perspective, the gallery comes off like a style retrospective of ring gear through the years. The romper/unitards topped by jackets worn by Moolah and Mae Young gave way to the more athletic stylings of Alundra Blayze and her famous mock-neck top and leggings combo. Jacqueline's ring fashion took that sporty vibe as a starting point, but metamorphosized into a much sexier iteration, a concept that Sable pushed to new heights. Check out her latex catsuit with its thigh-high and beyond lace-up detail: it's spot on-trend for today! And just as smoking hot as it was then. Of course, it's hard to imagine an outfit that wouldn't be smoking with Sable in it ;). Lita eschewed the traditional bombshell aesthetic in her gear, which was composed of straight-up street fashion: cargos, cropped tops, slogan tees. It was hot as h**l, but in a down-to-earth way that made it both appealing and accessible to WWE fashion fans of the era. In addition to her tremendous wrestling ability, Lita made fashion important to wrestling, while appearing to not especially care about it. Trish Stratus' looks had a similar point of inspiration, but incorporated a girl-next-door vibe that separated her from Lita's disaffected street urchin toughness. Molly Holly's looks were even more demure, focusing primarily on the athletic requirements of her pieces, spiced up with a bit of shine and an occasional foray into pretty, feminine colors: sherbet pinks and bright turquoises. There was a sweetness to her style which set her apart from many of the other ladies of the era. Complexity entered ring gear with the advent of Mickie James' and Melina's reigns. Unique designs, gorgeous colors and bespoke details - the full palette of fashion seemed to collide with the concept of wrestling-wear. Mickie's crop top+pants combo became an instantaneous trademark, along with the luscious colors she gravitated to. Melina's looks were more dramatic - think one-person Cirque du Soleil :). Thigh cutouts, sheer insets,knee-high fur boots, patterns and metallics all caromed together to create her memorable looks. Beth Phoenix's superhero-esque metallic jumpsuits also arrived on the scene. Each of the ladies developed distinctive silhouettes or styles that set them apart. Michelle McCool used her various changes to mark separate eras in her character, not unlike the Undertaker has. The sweet and simple early pieces of her personal-trainer/schoolteacher gimmicks evolved into the cross-embellished halter top+lace-up leggings combination of her Faithful face era. I didn't appreciate at the time just how spectacular this particular gear is with the all-over crystals! I find the camo a bit busy (maybe that's why I missed the crystals ;)), but the jewel-work is spectacular. This snap was not widely released at the time, but it was used in promotions and, back in the day, Michelle cited it as one of her favorites so it's awesome to have a high quality version of it out and about! She exhcanged this style for the dark glamour of her heel turn, which included mostly dark fabrics embellished with crystal and studs. And that was succeeded by the Flawless Era which attained Fame-era Gaga-esque heights of fierceness. Layla came along for that ride and it brought her already-competent looks into truly amazing territory, something she maintained even after Michelle's departure. A few other ladies, including Natalya and Beth, took on the concept of metamorphosis-concurrent-with-persona - which led to the era which matched LayCool in fierceness: the maven-vixen Divas of Destruction, who ruled the ring in leather and spikes, softened with pin-up girl details like lace and bows. Barbie (Kelly) chose to stay with her hallmark push-up bra top and kabooty shorts from its inception until her retirement. And no surprise - it's hard to imagine it being improved on. This yellow-topped one was always one of my faves! (I'm sure you're shocked). Eve also carried the same chevron-waisted silhouette forward throughout her career, along she varied the sweetheart neckline extensively. Her gear was known for the myriad of stunning colors she employed: emerald green, bright melon, pale lilac, all embellished with hints of crystal, studs or sheers. Ditto Maryse, who explored variant after variant her keyhole-top+shorts combo with the most delicious, intriguing, luxurious combinations of color, embellishment, fabric and pattern. Nikki and Brie Bella were always closely in touch with the fashion world and they brought its influence even more closely into gear, breaking free of the idea of waiting for a persona change to update their ring-wear and using it as a way to freshen and reinvigorate their characters. Their looks run an unprecedented gamut from flamenco-inspired ruffled pieces to plunge-front catsuits to Britney Spears-influenced banded top+shorts combos that paired glam with a pop influence to the grunge-plaid era to today's sporty looks - which in a spine-tingling synchronatic way, brings ring gear full circle - back to its athletic beginnings.
Becky's new aesthetic, which pairs beauty and toughness is 100% up my alley! Her juxtaposition of elegance with grit (and perhaps a hint of flash ;)) ticks all the right style boxes so I was intrigued by the idea of trying to metamorphosize it into a streetwear look. The first critical element of Becky's pairings have been to use selected neutrals. We've seen her do classic black and white in the past, but this beige and black combo is particularly appealing - it's not overly sweet, but still incorporates a touch of the lighter neutrals that look toward warmer days. And the always iconic nude-tan-beige-blush tones have been especially important the last few seasons, i.e. one more reason to work them in ;). The next concept to be culled from her gear is restraint - she hasn't gone to town with embellishment; she's used hints of it. A band of lace and wrappings of grommets are enough to create the idea and serve as a reminder that a whisper can be all you need. Black denim is clearly the first item that comes to mind for creating this look, but definitely consider chinos as an alternative - the utilitarian twill fabric is showing distinct comeback tendencies this spring. The weather will be the determining factor in your layer choices: a blouse with lace appliqué and a wool coat may be plenty. Then again, you may need to slide a turtleneck or similar toasty layer under said blouse. A lace cardigan is a fab choice also - consider a maxi length piece if you have one. Attention athleisure lovers: lace appliqué sweatshirts are flawless for this look! If your current wardrobe offers lace options in the slim to none category, consider a crocheted piece instead. It will give you a similar effect. Should that also fail to work, there's always the option of a lace choker (and you can DIY one with a piece of ribbon in cases of extreme need :)). Footwear and accessories are the easiest way to add the requisite touch of metal: a studded belt, studded booties, a grommeted bracelet or choker or a biker/moto style jacket that includes a good dose of hardware will all do the trick. No need to get too fancy - flat OTKs,or low or chunky-heeled ankle booties finish this pairing off with casual feistiness. Happy styling!
Carmella's urban sporty style is seriously fun and spot on trend, i.e. well worth borrowing ;). I love the effortless effect of this bright bomber set atop an LBD - the big pop of color makes me think of spring, even if the temperatures haven't quite caught up to that particular daydream yet. Clearly, the way to start this outfit is with your little black dress of choice. Don't go for anything too formal - stick with knit fabrics that keep the look low-key. The exception to that is if you're going with a slip-dress (how totally trendy of you!). In that case, slide a turtleneck underneath to make the silhouette cold-weather friendly and then feel free to use silk, satin or whatever fabulous fabric floats your stylish ducks... in a row :). Step two: the bomber. This is def a case of flaunt what you've got: if you have a classic wool version, that'll do just as well as an a la Carmella satin piece. If you have a bright color, go for it! If you own a jewel tone, rock that. Ditto a print (you cool thing you). If all you own is a neutral, break it out, babe! Even black over black will work here, due to the difference in textures; you'll just want to make sure you create a spark via your accessories. Carmella completed her look with sneakers. If you live in a place where the weather is cooperating, by all means do the sneaker! Any pair that includes one of the colors that is also in your bomber is a go. Unless you have a neutral bomber, in which case, have at your bad self - no holds barred. Spray paint a sneaker if you have to (just kidding. But yes, you can actually do that.:)). If sneakers are out of the question, or if a little less sporty is what thrills you, go for boots - a simple, flat ankle boot with a knee-length or above dress, something heeled with a long one (make sure the shaft goes higher than the dress' hemline). A choker (I dare you to try a leopard one!), bold short pendant and/or baseball cap are Carmella-approved accessory options. Pick your passion: one, two, all or none. Happy styling!
I can't believe I'm still in catch-up mode. Sigh.
I'm so sorry that Naomi's injury was serious enough to force her to have to drop the title. How insanely frustrating after all her hard work to achieve it! She managed to go out in style though, pairing a cute cap-sleeve cropped tee with her Feel The Glow leggings and black sneakers with blue and lime embellishments. This combo is casual and sporty and, once again, plays on that fab combo of teal and neon citrus that works so incredibly well. Her bright hair acts as that one extra pop of color that gives the outfit zing. Mickie put together a classically Americana pairing of a gorgeous lace cropped top with pale denim. Naturally, she finished it with Western boots ;) One of the benefits of an unrefined, study boot like this is that it allows an outfit to be styled with super-feminine pieces, like Mickie's top, without having the look come off at all too girly. The boots provide a strong counter-balance - something to keep in mind if you adore frills, but don't want to over-do the femme vibe. If Western boots aren't your jazz, a chunky-heeled punk-tinged boot, or a classic riding silhouette will work similarly. Lana has been doing a good bit with this double-breasted dress style lately. The double row of buttons has a haberdasher-esque quality that brings strength and assertiveness to this simple dress. I can love this design when done as a blazer; I'm a bit more hesitant about the dress version. I don't dislike it, but it probably wouldn't be the first thing I'd reach for. Lana's variation is done is a fiery red satin, which makes it even more of a statement piece. Her slim crystal choker is a perfect way to accessorize a look like this - with subtlety. Her low bun is polished but not too prim - another winning choice! Maryse got in on some actual nearly in-ring action in preparation for the build-up to Miz & her Wrestlemania match against John & Nikki. As usual, her selections are stellar: a cropped sequin bomber cardigan (leave it to Maryse to make a cardi look fierce! #HowItsDone101) tops leather leggings. She finished the look with plain suede OTK boots - and flat boots, no less! It's rare, but Maryse in flats does indeed happen ;), and she slays in them just as well as in heels. As if we expected anything different. #Homage Natalya's exploration of combinations of patent leather, sheer, strapped cutouts and crystal continues with this gear. She's moved to pink for her crystals - a mouth-watering decision that I hope she gives us a few more variations of! The strapped cutout aspects of her gear remain as fabulous as ever - and she's earning serious points from me for her designs that show enough to be tantalizing as heck, without showing too much. It's a fine line to walk and Nattie is handling it perfectly. This is how a classy lady does sexy! Note-taking is encouraged ;). |
