Now that we've officially crossed into warm weather territory, it seems that many of the Divas have gotten on the same page regarding colors: it's time for BRIGHTS! :) There's just something that feels right about wearing gorgeous hues when the sun is shining.
First example: Barbie's dress from her recent Bella Magazine spread. The color of this limeade maxi is just mesmerizing - so vibrant! The cutout halter shape is super modern, while the flowy skirt is the stuff spring daydreams are made of! I'm not sold on the "shorts-underneath" styling for non-photoshoot-wear, but it works brilliantly in a magazine - the visual effect is modern and hot! For real life, though, I'd have a tailor add a matching full-length lining (yes, they can do that! ;)). The minimalist heels she's paired it with are crave-worthy. Ssly, strappy stilettos light up my life - especially when they're done in a yellow-chartreuse shade that matches a stunning dress. You'll often hear me advocate coordinating without matching, but there are a few times when matchiness (did I just create a word again? Heehee) is the right way to go. First, with a magnificent statement color like this, sometimes you don't want to distract from it at all. Second, the dress itself offers two textures: the main fabric and then the georgette overlay. That sheer overlay creates the same kind visual interest a second color would, by acting as a lighter variation of the main color. Between the statement and the visual depth of the fabrics, simple matching shoes are a spot-on choice. Barbie's next look is a striking white dress, with an ultra-simple silhouette...until you get down to it's fab tasselled hem! It's super-pretty, a bit boho, madly fun to flip around ...and it turns this plain-Jane dress into something special! In this case, Barbie completes it with almond-toned pointy-toe pumps.

Renee wants YOU....to be stylish this Memorial Day :) ...Well, actually I have no idea what Renee wants this Memorial Day, but if you do happen to be extra stylish on account of channeling her stellar fashion sense, I at least don't think she'd object :). With picnics abounding at the beginning of the summer holiday season, I've pulled a bunch of inspiring ideas from the Divas for how to look amazeballs at your next meal-in-the-great-outdoors outing :)
Maria has been teasing new photos for some weeks and now...She. Has. Delivered! Hallelujah! :) Several of the pics are available for purchase on her official website: mariakanellis.com (just click on the "store" link). The others seem to be teasers from Lee South photoshoots...which hopefully means we'll be getting more snaps from them :). In the meantime, check out Maria's Instagram for the snaps, which open with one of the coolest shots I can imagine. Maria apparates into Diagon Alley, bearing a wand and theeee caaaaa-utest little stuffed owl. (Aside: I found the shot especially timely as I happen to be re-reading book 7 atm heehee). When you get past the owl (ok, IF you get past the owl ;)), you can appreciate Maria's grey pleated mini dress, with it's very Gryffindor border and vintage-feeling platform oxfords. The whole look is such a fun, lighthearted idea that it's difficult not to be completely enchanted with it!
When you see a whole bunch of snaps from Maria in succession, you are really able to appreciate her ability to swap genres, styles and characters with competence and ease. Her next ensemble is about as far from Hogwarts as you can get. Actually, it reminds me more of Julia Roberts waiting for Richard Gere one night in Pretty Woman. It has that luxurious, sexy New York City feel, due to the piano, the fur coat ( I love how she's tossed it carelessly across the piano!) and, of course, the skyline :) Lacy lingerie in mesemerizing black and white forms the basis of the fashion, embellished with an opera-length string of pearls and - in a classic Maria touch - raw an wild leopard pumps. Her pose flawlessly expresses that moment when the one who is awaited arrives on the scene set by his lover. Can't you just imagine the dry wittiness of her "How was your day, dear"? From sexiness in the city, she moves breezily into a Sex And The City closet, as we get a peek inside Maria's dressing area. Her lacy unmentionables and innocent expression shade this snap into the flirty realm she's intended for it, but what really caught my eye in this snap was that crave-worthy sea green corset. Just..wowza. It's a beautiful piece, done in an amazing color and I would be wildly, madly overjoyed to see her use it for ring or street fashion sometime in the future. I can just picture it with with a demure pencil skirt or set against fierce distressed black denim. I love how she paired it with a bold collar necklace and added a feminine ribbon belt - so pretty and vintage! As with her Harry Pooter snap, I think the whole concept of this shot is just super-exciting and interesting. And again, that color! *shivers* :) Eden officially announced that she and WWE have come to an amicable agreement about the terms of her release and she will no longer be ring announcing for the company. The news is not overly surprising, given her husband, Cody Rhodes, recent departure. It is, however, quite sad to those of us (like ME!!!!) who adored her in-ring fashion...actually, ALL her fashion. *sniffles*. Eden was the first, and so far only, diva to win our Hall Of Fame Fashion Review Best Dressed award two years running, and she's regaled us with quantities of fabulous style all the days in between. I will miss her classy, chic looks so much! In happier news, though, Eden also made it clear that she has a new opportunity or two on the horizon, something she'll be telling us more about in the days to come (yay! Fingers crossed that it means we still get to see her style someway, somehow :) ) and also, that her blog, BeingBrandiRunnels.com will continue (double yay! She always has interesting things to say. Also, she's already posted a blog giving a bit of a heads up as to where she's headed, so definitely be sure to check that out!). So, while I'm sorry about her departure, I'm thrilled that Eden has new, exciting things to look forward to. I wish the very best to both her and Cody, two people for whom I have tremendous respect and who I believe deserve the successes they have earned so far, as well as the ones they will attain in future.
I went completely head-over-stilettos for this look of Brie’s as soon as I saw it. It’s so simple…but so spot-on stylish! It exudes that certain “just right” quality. She paired a black halter-style top with distressed jeans. The halter is a classic silhouette with a hint of 70’s luxe about it, while the ripped denim tempers that with a grunge-y vibe. Brie completed the look with chunky, strappy sandals and a pink sand make-up palette. Because the outfit is minimal and monochromatic, make-up becomes a critical aspect, a highlight of the look; the impression it creates is strengthened by the simplicity of the canvas it’s set against. I metamorphosized the shading slightly in my re-imagining of her look: to lilac! Pale violet is having a fashion moment right now and it also happens to be one of my favorite shades for spring and summer –it’s so airy and dreamy. Plus, the cool tones harmonize wonderfully with black. So, I thought it would be fun to explore those shades for adding a bit of spice to this outfit. I also thought this was a great pairing to forego stilettos on. Brie makes it look ultra-fab, and I’m always on-board for big heels, but I also like to have a few outfits in my repertoire that work with flats. Black sneakers enhance the grunge vibe of the distressed denim and lend an “off-duty model” quality to the look. The key here is to use a polished top. Don’t go for your standard ribbed tank. You’re looking for a piece that’s a bit more tailored: a camisole, a sleeveless blouse, a silk tank. If you go with a woven cotton piece, follow Brie’s lead and choose a more unusual neckline, like a halter, or a boatneck style, rather than the more laidback round, scoop or v-necks. An off-the-shoulder top would be another option to consider and thoroughly au courant. For air conditioning and/or when the sun goes down, keep the careless cool-girl look going by tossing a bomber jacket over the top. Happy styling! :)
We're kicking off this FashionHap with a little MaryseFest! First up is this LBD, which Maryse paired with statement OTK boots. Seriously, these are NOT your everyday OTK's - look at the patterning! That craftmanship adds extra oomph to this classic look. Of course, it's helped along by Maryse's super-sized chain necklace. I love the presence this type of piece has, especially when set against a black-on-black look.
From there, we're heading over to a couple of her TV appearance looks. Maryse has made her return fashion all about statement dusters, set over a curated collection of bodysuits. This black lace-up front one-piece is the under-garment for both of these outfits. The first look incorporates a piece I completely adore: a gray, lace-embellished piece with a wonderful modern-femme vibe that could swing either gothic or boho. In this case, it looks graceful and feminine, but also FIERCE, due to being layered ovr the very right-now bodysuit. Maryse's second duster has a definite glam-rock vibe. Another gray background serves to highlight shiny, patent leather stripes. It has a look-at-me! quality that makes it perfectly at home on a stage...or on a WWE catwalk ;). Maryse finishes both outifts with those killer OTKs, showcasing a skill I have long loved about her: that of re-using pieces, but still keeping them fresh! Her final offering is a surprising one. Worn at meet-n-greets on the Euro tour, this look is comprised of a cardigan layered over plaid pants, topped with a leather biker jacket and finished with knee boots. The plaid pants really made me look twice, as I'm not used to seeing Maryse choose something this busy for daywear. I'm not sure how many more times I'd like to see them, but they work really nicely with this outfit, providing the coordinating print for a complex selection of colors. Her multi-hued scarf does something quite similar in helping to connect all the shades in this look and adds a chic dollop of panache as well. There's a reason I talk about (and Divas' wear) LBD's a LOT; they're nearly always faaaaabulous! So, even though I see a lot of little black dresses, I was immediately caught by this look of Lilian's. It has a similar vibe to the Maryse outfit that kicked off this FH, with a few mini changes: unembellished suede OTKs vs. statement ones and a cross pendant instead of the massive chain necklace. The latter piece lends a bit of a rocker vibe to Lilian's look and works well with the pretty, slightly boatnecked silhouette of her dress. While Maryse's look comes off fashion-forward and chic, Lilian's has a certain rebel-hearted simplicity. Which one speaks to your style soul? I used to live on the edge of my seat waiting for new Michelle 'shoots to come out. Literally. I still have the blisters on my...nevermind. TMI? Probs. I found pretty much every thing she did firing up my creativity for new looks. So my love for basically every shoot she ever did is strong. Aaaaannd narrowing down her top five shoots was a serious challenge ;). Fun, but oh so tough. However, I persevered (see where stick-to-it-iveness will get ya?) and I can present to you now: Michelle McCool's Top 5 Photoshoots!
