Sometimes, you just run headlong into a fashion look that puts a smile right smack dab onto your face. This look from Alicia was one of those! Oh my gaganess – do you completely LOVE her? She took this sparkling, tulle-embellished dress with its hint of a roaring 20’s vibe and smashed it straight into today with a cutouff Lakers tee and a baseball cap. It’s Foxy at her marvelous, zany, fabulous best! Why does this work? First, the color ties it all together. Second, note how Foxy’s played perfectly with the silhouette, designing the tee to land at a high-waist level, creating shape visually. Finally, it’s about panache and attitude, something girlfriend’s got in spades. She finishes the look by bringing back the vintage vibe with fab t-strap heels. I live for when Foxy does looks like this! The juxtaposition of elements is brave and unique..and, even better than that, it’s looks ahhhhmazing! This is STYLE.
Equally stylish, but with a very different look is Michelle McCool’s periwinkle lace bodycon dress. This is such an unusual color and to see it done in lace is more unusual still! True to her fashion sensibilities, Michelle skips the standard black pump and finishes this look with caramel lace-up booties. It’s gives a fierce-boho twist to a chic and summery dress and makes the look less formal. In keeping with that, I’d have loved to see her go with a softer, less austere hairstyle. But I can deal with the bun :-) Brie did it my way and used a half up-do with this super-cute print dress. I don’t generally gravitate toward whimsical prints, but there are a couple factors that change my opinion regarding this dress. First, the grapefruit shade of the base color is just beautiful! Second, I love the wide-strap+square-neck silhouette – it’s chic and flatters many body types. Third, in this low-key cotton fabric and with the flared shape, it has a sweet girl-next-door vibe that’s just perfect for summer. I’m also a fan of these cross-strap heels; they’re just made to be paired with dresses like this..and flared skirts! Lastly –and this has nothing to do with the dress J - this image is fantastic : Brie and her style really pop when set against the black couch, and the wing art in the background adds softness and depth. Nikki gave us some ultra laidback looks during her visit to Las Vegas earlier this month. In the first, she paired a simple nude tank with cutoff denim shorts…and then glammed it up with a crystal statement necklace (LOVE that piece!). I’m a little on the fence about this combo; there might be too much stylistic distance in terms of formality between the necklace and the rest of the look for my taste. If these were distressed full-length or cropped jeans, I would completely be on board, though. Shoe choice makes a big difference to this look as well. These chunky white sandals are a funky hybrid between a sandal and a sneaker. A more minimalistic block heel would have been equally comfortable and might harmonized the outfit a bit more. The way her next look comes together demo’s the point. She swaps the sandals for broken-in tie ankle boots and jettisons the necklace, but she keeps the sexy comin’ on strong with this lace-up bodysuit and black frayed shorts. The combination of these pieces is flawless: they’re all casual and united by the color, but there’s plenty of detail and textural contrast that make this styling oh so hot!

Apparently the only way WWE now knows how to do fun summer 'shoots is via galleries. Gone are the halcyon days of Summer Skin and similar extravaganzas. Summer delights are consigned to the Big Dub's version of #TBTs and bikini "shoots" culled from the ladies' own Instagrams. And then , there are the re-hashes. They've literally released the same pic of Barbie/Kelly three times. I love Barbie as much, or perhaps significantly more than, the next wrestling fan, but even I draw the line at getting the same snap in multiple recycled galleries. What especially annoys me about this is that, in addition to being a distinctive letdown to the fandom at large, it shortchanges the lady superstars. There are a few pics interspersed here that are new and they show talent ready and waiting to be utilized in full, focused spreads. These ladies have got the style, the look, and the camera savvy to impress us and send thrilling shivers through our fashion universe; what are ya waiting for, WWE?
This shot of Maryse gives us the chance to view her gold sequin statement coat close-up, as well as savor her pairing it with a sheet inset bodysuit and shorts. As much as I loooove the fierceness of the bodysuit alone, the shorts feel fresh to me and I'm thrilled by the op to enjoy the combo. I also adore the collar necklace! And, naturally Maryse rocks the pose. Carmella also gets a shot or two to show off her New York-influenced style. This gear is an instant hit in my book. It takes advantage of the high impact of the black and white trend, done in an athletic silhouette. The basic premise is straightforward and strong, but a few little touches make it uniquely Carmella's...and all of them have attitude! The leopard lining of her leather jacket, the unabashed "Fabulous" statement across her top and the band of bling all bring a streetwise confidence to her look. And she nails the pose! I would be head over stilettos for a full 'shoot from Renee with this outfit. She's tossed a super cool floral bomber jacket over leather skinny pants and likely a tee/tank of some kind. The way the florals soften the jock-ish vibe of the bomber is amazeballs. Ditto the way the print plays against the tough-chic feel of her leggings. I'm envisioning this look completed with black pointy toe pumps. And, I will not fail to spend a moment or three waxing lyrical over her hairstyle! This wrap-around braid is gorgeous and sooooo sophisticated! I've seen Alexa on NXT, but never really connected with her character until these shots (behold, the power of the photoshoot!). Her glamour girl self comes shining through and it feels really lighthearted and authentic. I'm kind of crazed over the crystals in her hair; love those so much! She amps up her black lace dress with a colored streak in her hair...and a crystal belt. Def yaaas on the hair. I might have gone for a low-set brooch instead of the belt, just to try to do something a little farther off the diving board, but I think this is a case of Alexa trying her wings to see what works. Her innate style sense is clearly solid and I can't wait to see where it leads her as it experimentation allows it to mature. Barbie graced the red carpet with this printed bodycon dress recently. The complexity of this pattern makes the piece a real stand-out! I'm also loving her exploration of this color - it's not one we've seen much of on Barbie, and it suits her quite well. She finished the look with nude pumps, a modern and successful choice. If I could tweak one thing, it would be to warm up her lip color a smidge - maybe just to a tawny pink. This sand shade is coming off a bit drab to me. Outside of that, this look is A+..i.e., classic Barbie! :-)
Maryse debuted a new statement trench at the end of last month and it is a jaw-dropper It's a sleeveless leather masterpiece of scalloped details and sparkling stones that perfectly realizes the rocker facet of Maryse's style. And Dana Brooke makes this FashionHap not once, but twice, which is a good thing because call-out number one is ...well, less than I would hope for from her. This lace-accented, polka-dot sheer-inset embellished bodysuit has a very vintage vibe, which is set against a leather peplum and finished off with ballsy cutout leather leggings. It comes dangerously close to hot mess territory because it tries to combine too many vibes, rather than juxtaposing a selected few. Her next outfit is a dramatic improvement: a lavender bodysuit with a sheer-stripe overlay and lavender piping, enhanced by a sprinkling of blue-teal sequins. This works! It's got power and impact, but it's still pared down enough to allow the details to harmonize and be appreciated. Moe like this, please! :-) PS props for the azalea lip shade - it makes a nice pop against the black and purple. Raves over the summery goodness of this outfit from Alicia are soon forthcoming. For now, let’s talk about how we can appropriate this look *cue gleeful hand-rubbing*. Begin with your favorite blue-hued maxi. Pleats are welcome, but not required. Aqua or turquoise shades are stellar, but any shade of blue is workable – don’t stress: we’ll tweak it in the mix! Keep a breezy, carefree vibe going by topping your maxi with a tied tee. This works on it’s own for causal events or date night. Tuck a (longer!) cami underneath for dressier or more professional occasions. The cami will work like color blocking and help you play with proportion. Tip for tying your tee: create visual shape by using the knot to place the hem of the tee at the narrowest part of your body; customize it to precisely what works best for you. Higher knots will create an empire waist, while lower knots will approximate a classic waist. Alternatively, go with an un-tied, slightly cropped tee a la Foxy Fierce. Play around with the shades of your pieces to echo the ocean-colors palette: aqua, sky blue, navy, gray, seafoam, turquoise. With darker or denim skirts, do a lighter and/or greener tee, light blue with a gray maxi, et cetera, et cetera. Baubletry gives you another avenue for expanding your color palette: think a wrap or beaded bracelet, or belt or scarf twisted at your wrist and fun earrings. Bonus points for multi-colored ones that bring in the whole range of blues ;). Try to include three or four different tones in the same family. They’ll blend beautifully when you span the spectrum. This outfit just screams to be completed with an espadrille, perhaps something with Foxy-ish personality, like a floral print, tie-dye or cutouts, or cute stripes, or a touch of metallic flash! Add a saddle or bucket bag and a fab pair of shades you're ready to hit the boardwalk... or the sidewalk... or the catwalk ;)
Here you go, loves! Because I love you ...and I love fashion...and I love shoes..here are some fashionable shoes for you to love :). Rockstud-alikes are flying off shelves basically as fast as the Rockstuds themselves, so if you're craving a pair of any of these, I advise you to put the pedal to the plastic. A number of these are available in alt colors, too, but these are the most similar to Maryse's pair. Have a looksy at the Sole Society Anneke at Nordstrom.com, the Julianna or Lydia at katespade.com (priciest of the bunch, but my fav! Crystals for studs? Oh, I'll make that trade :) ...and also: the multi-tone tweed Licorice heels and the Izzy just because. Did I mention that I love shoes? No? Ok, about that...), the Darron by BCBGeneration (& Dacotah for a sim to the Rockstud sandal) and Audrey Brooke Harper at dsw.com and the Luichiny That A Girl at heels.com. Happy hunting!
Considering the way Valentino’s Rockstud t-straps have overthrown any other rulers of the fashion shoe-niverse, I’ve been waiting for a lady superstar to break out a pair. Naturally, it would be Maryse. With her exquisite taste and sense of style, how could she skip these? “These” are the original iteration of the Rockstud, a fairly simple t-strap pump, accented with square studs on the straps and around the vamp. And they are beautiful. So, take a moment. Their success has been so great that they’ve spawned flat, sandal, triple strap kitten heel and wedge espadrille versions. There are so many versions out now, including different a galaxy-full of different color combinations, be-crystalled versions and colored-stud variations that you can own a very unique pair…even when you’re wearing the same shoe as half the planet. Straight up marketing genius. Oh, and they’re beautiful. Maryse’s ivory and blush originals are available here. Of course, you don’t mind dropping a grand or so. Oh, you do? Do you think maybe we’re going to do a Hunt post with some Get-The-Look options for you? You bet your hot little bottom dollar we are! ;) So, enjoy these…and stick around.
With Brie and Nikki both wearing these gorgeous yellow pointy toe pumps recently, you may have been wondering how long it would take me to be all over the hunt for a pair. And the answer is: not long :). That's partly the case because I'm always on the lookout for fabulous yellow shoes, as yellow is my favorite - and signature- color. The twins' pair is the Alice and Olivia Dina pump, which we've seen Brie practically living in lately. She's worn them both in denim and in laser-cut floral. (PS, if you're in love with either of those, now is a good time to search around as they are on sale in a few places, including Saks, if you're lucky enough to take certain sizes). The yellow suede ones are nearly sold out - but on sale :) - at shopbop in smaller sizes, so sprint over if you're set on having exacts for those. Then again, maybe you loooooove the idea of a yellow shoe, but aren't ready to throw your budget out of whack to have one. I hear ya and I'm with ya. So, here are a couple of wallet-friendlier options for you to consider :) : the Ivanka Trump Carra at nordstrom.com, the 9 West Tatiana at 6pm.com or ninewest.com, the Penny Loves Kenny Opus at dsw.com and the Charles by Charles David Pact at lastcall.com (one of my fav places to shop - you can get some fab deals there if you hit it at just the right time ;)) Have fun yellow-shoe-shopping, loves!
