The Bellas got into the Independence Day spirit about a month early and gave us a taste of some gorgeous red and white outfits...with the occasional touch of blue ;). Brie sported this pretty red mini dress in a lighthearted floral print. Set against the cherry red background, the delicate all-over print has a slightly vintage feel. Brie added a wide-brimmed straw hat, which makes her look like a wild English garden flower...especially with her bare feet! I love the sweetness and romance of this look. For outside the garden, it could be paired with ballet flats, ankle boots or espadrille wedges. Brie's next offering - spotted at a secret visit to a winery she and Nikki snuck out on while visiting family- is equally sweet and romantic: a fabulous lace-accented maxi dress with three-quarter sleeves. The soft scoop neckline is so pretty and the touches of lace create a frothy beauty. Brie finished the look with gray wedge booties - a great choice for walking about on grass, but a surprising match-up with this feminine dress. Nikki delved into her boho side again (who knew she was as much of a free spirit as Brie?! :) ) with this fantastic ruffles wrap skirt, dotted with exotic paisleys. The second print at the border makes this piece even more unique and interesting. Nikki topped it with an elbow-sleeve crop top with a plunge front silhouette. This vibrant red shade is amazing, and bring intensity and drama to the carefree skirt. Caramel lace-up sandals and a matching crossbody bag complete the look with a warm, earthy feel that enhances the bohemian shadings.

Maryse was rocking white on not one, but two occasions recently and no wonder: it's one of the summer's hottest looks! First, she attended a poker night fundraiser for Tower Cancer Research. Her white mock-neck dress is made of a fabulous, luxurious quilted material and accented with gazillions of crystals. It's chic and glam and oh so thoroughly Maryse. Let's just take a moment, shall we? ...She finished the look with nude pointy heels and topped it off with a sleek, top-knot bun. I love the refined sophistication of this outfit! Maryse does it again with her second white look: a white suit done with shorts and a cropped jacket, matched with a blush bodysuit. I'm a huge fan of the casual polish of a shorts-suit for summer. It has the chic, fierce vibe of a suit, but the relaxed effect of shorts. Maryse finishes the look with her new, world-dominating Valentino Rockstud heels. Also looking fantastically chic is Natalya in a modern, sophisticated LBD with sheer insets. I'm really enjoying her decision to finish this look with these maple brown horsebit ankle strap sandals (by Gucci). Nude or camel is a classic pairing with black, but this slightly darker shade of warm brown looks amazing, as well as being a bit more unique! Lana looks gorgeous in this powder blue mockneck cutout crop top and pencil skirt set. While the silhouette of her top is flawlessly on trend and makes this outfit fierce and modern, the real standout to me is this incredible color! It happens to be one of those shades that flatters many hair/skin tone combinations, including (clearly) fair and blonde :). Her black lace-up sandals bring some additional edge to this look. I could also see finishing it with bright white, vibrant blue, gray seude or silver metallic. I was thrilled to see Dana bring out this look a few weeks ago; it's such a perfect pairing for her! The high-neck, cutaway-shoulder style looks wonderful on her, while the cropped style highlights her curves. The leather-esque accents toughen up the look in a subtle, but sexy way. She matched it black skinny pants that ramp up the edgy vibe. And her coup de grace is these crave-worthy studded pointy-toe pumps. Like...yes! That is how you complete a black-on-black ensemble! bold earrings and a spiked collar necklace add a touch more texture and sheen to this rocker-inspired styling. Nikki brought a more subtle rocker touch to her Las Vegas trip with this white lace-up top, paired with distressed denim. I love how the ruffled cap sleeves bring femininity to this look, which plays nicely against the harsher feel of the torn denim. She took the look from "classic summer pairing" to "off-duty rockstar" by the addition of the wide, black choker necklace, which brings a great twist of fierce to the outfit. We don't get to see her shoes, but studded gladiators or block-heeled black ankle boots would work nicely here. I'd also be on board with a black leather belt (even a studded one!;)) to echo her black necklace. This pic is from lit one of my favorite 'shoots eeeeveeeeeer from Barbie/Kelly (and that's saying something!). It's so soft and summery and totally girl next door! And it's def a look I would wear :). Add to that, it's so classic that it's still fab and stylish years after the 'shoot came out. I'd call that iconic! And there's no better time for an iconic look than the 4th of July. So, consider a pairing like this for picnics, firework dates, concerts under the stars, parades ...or just some good ol' fashioned drinking and laughter ;). Barbie paired denim shorts with a ruffle-accented blouse in a gorgeous shade of soft ivory. I especially adore the warmth of the ivory against the cool blue of the denim (nude or blush shades would have a similar effect), but this could be done with bright white as well. Ruffled blouses have been everywhere lately, so if you own one, or can snag one at the Independence Day sales ;), feel free to rock it! I also looooove the idea of doing this look with a sheer blouse. Tuck a cami underneath for sultry chic; the play of sheer over solid creates a wonderful sense of dimension and interest within the outfit. Tulle, georgette or cotton voile all lend themselves to this look. Alternatively, consider using super trendy crochet, done as a tee or even a light sweater. As with sheer fabrics, the artisanal texture plays beautifully and classically against the tough-casual vibe of the denim. Lastly, you could also do this look with an off-shoulder top, a 70's trend that's on every fashion blogger's radar right now. Showing the shoulders is subtly sexy..as well as thoroughly fabulous in a laidback, but still sophisticated, way. Finish the pairing with always-appropriate-for-summer espadrille wedges in canvas or a similar variant to keep the whole look light and lighthearted. Happy fashioning!
Sasha Banks is rocking the cover of the Jul/Aug 2016 issue of Muscle and Fitness Hers! To celebrate, WWE released a Behind The Scenes photo gallery that gives us a fun peek at all her looks for the 'shoot. It's so much fun to see Sash having fun with the make-up crew and experimenting with poses! Plus...outfits! :) There are three looks here; first up is a gray and black combo which pairs a printed crop top with runner's shorts. It's cool and mean and looks like girlfriend is ready to get her sweat on! The only thing I don't love about the look is her low pony. Combined with her center part in her hair, I find it a touch harsh for her face. Now, if she'd pulled it straight back, I'd be in love ;) Her second look, which happens to be the cover look as well, is a black monochrome pairing of a sports bra and high-waisted shorts. It's spiked with pink piping - an unexpected choice for Sasha, but one I'm digging! - and and array of gold accessories: her Legit Boss rings, a statement necklace and (my favorite :)) her metallic striped sunglasses that still make my world spin. Those are such a trademark item! Last up is the look I love best: a heathered TapOut cutoff tank and sleek metallic gear shorts with gold trim. You know how I love a touch of metallic! Plus, it enlivens the casual feel of the heathered fabric and brings the glam attitude that Sasha owns! While Sasha considers herself an athlete, not a diva, the fashion fans among us would argue that to be a hot athlete is to be eye candy to some degree and inspiration to an even greater degree! And we are ALL about that! These girls light up our fashion world and spark our style creativity, whether it be for dates, work, school or the gym...and that makes them divas to us :). Girl, don't shirk it; work it! The Muscle & Fitness issue includes not only an interview, but also a look at Sasha's full workout. So, if you're a fan of Ms. Banks...and who isn't?...make sure you check that out asap. The issue is available ...right now..so ...1...2....3...sprint! :)
There's something about summertime that always makes me crave a prettily-hued, semi-formal knee-length dress...or two...or eight :). One reason for is that dresses are so dang easy - the ultimate throw-and-go outfit. I also love the idea of dressing down a semi-formal dress with a pair of flats; dresses aren't just for fancy occasions! I've worn a look like this to dinner and to professional appointments, as well as to a wedding held in a field. Fabric is important for this look. Knits/jersey are not what you're looking for. Woven cotton (especially a heavier version, such as a faille (pron "file")), chiffon, or any fabric with a soft sheen (like sateen) is the key. Soft blue is a gorgeous (and perpetually in style) choice for color, but the pairings I've picked can also be done with almost any cool tone: mint, lilac, lemon, pale gray. For warmer shades like coral, peach and mango, I would switch my accents to gold or copper/rose gold. When the metallic echoes the visual "temperature" of the other colors in the outfit, the overall look is softer and dreamier. When the metallic contrasts, the look is bolder and carries more punch. I love Summer's silver collar as the lone accent piece. A metallic choker would be an equally trendy option. In both cases, the absence of stones maintains the clean minimalism of the look. This super-simple pairing also makes a perfect canvas on which to add a bit of spice! Tossing a motorcycle jacket over the top - especially in an unexpected fabric - can add a bit of edge. This gingham biker style is a perfect hybrid of attitude and sweetness. [It unfortunately happens to be sold out at J. Crew, but you can get a similar vibe via this shrunken twill piece from Free People at Bloomingdales (also available in honey brown at Shopbop), this pale blue suede biker from Silence+Noise at Urban Outfitters or this linen motorcycle jacket at Anthropologie]. You can also change the look with a touch of strong color from a belt. Consider vivacious blue suede or bright daffodil. Finally, you can give the dress the look of a skirt - and add a bit more texture or color :) - by topping the dress with a button-down blouse and knotting it at your waist. If you love the look of relaxed gingham against the more formal dress, this is a great way to bring it in! Stripes or floral prints will work fabulously too! I hope this inspires you to try dressing down a semi-formal dress this summer. Happy styling, loves!
