Lana recently did a gallery of snaps for the NY Daily News which showcased her fashion sense! She kicked things off with a tie-dyed maxi dress that sports a plunging front and a thigh-high side slit. The business of tie-dye doesn’t make it ine of my favorite prints, but I’m won over by the pretty ink-and-white color combination. Lana styled this for poolside lounging, with bare feet and a low pony. Add flat sandals and a woven bag for street-wear. Next up is a square-necked one-piece swimsuit with super high-cut legs that are straight-up 80’s! I love the vintage-come-trendy reference, as well as the gorgeous watermelon color! Lana added a bit of spice with her side-fishtail braid. I love the way the complexity of her hairstyle balances the simplicity of her suit. She tops that with her next piece, though: a halterneck maillot in a striped-ombré paisley that moves from aqua to cerulean to lavender to burgundy. The use of multiple, layered prints looks aaaahhhhmayyzing! I love the boho-elegance of this piece – and that’s not a description I get to use often! The piece is super-unusual, beautiful and look smashing on Lana – so basically, it nails my triad for what to look for in a bathing suit! Her click, side-parted hair works just opposite to her fishtail braid; here, the simplicity balances the complexity of her clothing choice. We also get a peek at side cut-out bikini that strongly reminds me of the one she wore in her (almost) Summer Skin 2.0 ‘shoot (which I was going to link to but seem to have utterly and completely lost (WTH!), so I am working on that. Instead of silver sandals, she pairs this one with lilac sunnies and an inflatable pink flamingo for a candy-colored, summer-fun snap that makes me smile! Check out the snaps and deets here.

Brie: A quartet of Divas attended this year’s ESPY awards and we saw quite the gamut of fashion! Lana kicked things off with a sheer knit halter-neck dress (from House of CB) which sported demure slits on each side. The crux of the look is the semi-transparent nature of the dress, which allows her strapless balconette bra and high-waisted briefs to create a shadow-silhouette beneath. While I love the clean, minimalist drama of the cutaway halter, I would infinitely prefer if this piece was lined. Unfortunately, doing so would make an already fairly laidback piece even more casual -too casual , really, for a red carpet event, even a more relaxed one such as this. Although I can’t come to a successful resolution of that conundrum, I appreciate the appropriateness of the sporty vibe of the piece for this event. Lana brought the fanciness up tremendously with her excellent choices of accessories: shoulder-grazing star earrings (so amazing!!), and a sprinkling of gold and crystal rings (all from Y2K Jewelers) and fabulous chain-embellished strappy sandals (the Hypnotize from Lola Shoetique). I’m definitely on board for the way the touches of shine and sparkle elevate this look! I also love the subtlety of her make-up palette; the amber, clay and taupe tones enhance her beauty without getting in the way of her outfit. And after all the bright lips we’ve seen all summer, this pastel golden rose is a nice change.
Next up was Maryse who took a much more glamorous approach (such a surprise, right? ;)) in this glittering Abyss By Abby gown. The plunging neckline and spaghetti-strap piece was a familiar silhouette for Maryse; while we’ve seen it before it also happens to be one that works flawlessly for her. I could have done without the second front slit, but I’m almost reconciled to that by the glorious bittersweet color of the gown. It’s uncommon and stunning. Sizeable crystal earrings bring in an additional dose of drama, while strappy beige-adobe Stuart Weitzman Nudist sandals and a coordinating Louboutin envelope clutch complete the look. I love how her chocolate smoky eye echoes the warmth of her gown’s color. I love even more that she styled this look herself. Brava, Maryse! I can’t help but admire ladies who the guts and the fashion sense to do that, especially because the look then becomes a little extra authentic in that there’s no one between the fashion and the wearer to dilute their personal style sensibilities. Kim: Red carpets are always a fashion-lovers dream. You can see such a mix of fashion choices, and the 2017 ESPY Awards were the perfect example of that. From sleek dresses to sport-like looks, the WWE Superstars brought it all to the table this year. First up, I have to talk about my girl Nikki Bella. She went in a totally different direction than previous years at the ESPY's. Sporting a white crop top (from Missguided) with black trim and zipper detail, black flowy pants with white stripes (from Adidas x Stella McCartney), this is a very street/tomboy inspired look. The waistband of her Birdiebee underwear is clearly visible, which to some may be a fashion no-no. But for me, I'm giving it a pass, mostly because it's her and Brie's own fashion line. You can't blame her for wanting to show it off a little. Also, oh freaking amazing is her clutch. I want it! We’re doing a little LaurelFest today :). She’s new to the wrestling forefront, but I’ve become an instant fan of her excellent style. We kick it off with a floral romper (from A’Gaci store) which she pairs which strappy wedge sandals. I love that Laurel chose a fabric done in deep burgundy with a range of pink and red flowers on it, embracing the dark floral trend. It’s a beautiful and more grounded genre of the traditional cheery and feminine pattern. It’s perfect for summer, styled Laurel’s way and works for transitional dressing with suede OTK boots and a classic leather jacket. I’m wild over the spectacular color of her next look, a coord set (also from A’Gaci store) embellished with ruffles that add beautiful movement. This is what warm weather is all about – the chance to wear magnificent brights like this! I also love that you can break this set up –pair the top with cropped flared jeans, pair the shorts with a black and white striped tee. Laurel completed the look with strappy white flat sandals. Since the ruffles make the look fancier, her use of flats works perfectly to keep the vibe laidback. She lets the fancy have full rein on her next look, a fabulous mauve party dress with a fit-and-flare silhouette and an asymmetrical ruffle detail. Her high donut bun is a flawless choice, looking refined and elegant. She finished the look with simple ivory sandals. I could have loved a more formal ankle strap pair, but these work well. She goes cute and casual for her final early July look, a cropped white tee and cut-off denim shorts that have a super-fun pink waistband. She injects an appealing dose of personality by adding a pink, printed scarf as a hairband – it’s such a great way to give flare, visual interest and stylish weight to a casual outfit. Classic white sneakers complete this look with a sporty vintage vibe.
Lastly, I had to take a moment to heap some appreciation on this Independence Day swimsuit from Mandy. She chose a classically star-and-striped piece with a scalding hot deep-v front. The high-cut leg trendily references the 80’s. She adds gorgeous fishtail pigtails and massive circular shades to complete this sultry Americana look. Carmella’s striking red outfit makes good use of her particular bland of urbanity and sporty sensibilities. Her red cuffed sweatpants, sports bra, cropped short-sleeved jacket, baseball cap and sneakers work divinely in the ring, walking the line between street-wear and ring gear flawlessly. But how to her athletic-meets-city aesthetic for non-WWE moments? Well, this is what track pants were made for, darlings. Grab your nearest handy pair. Polished sweats (they have a zipper or button front, maybe racing stripes, a fancy detail like a satin pocket. They do not have your favorite sports team’s name or logo. They do not say “PINK” anywhere ;)) will do in a pinch. Next, you need a top that’s a bridge between chilled out and totally cool. Consider a simple tee with an asymmetric hemline or other eye-catching detail (ok, this is where you go for the..well, maybe not a team logo, but a baseball-style tee or jersey with your fave’s number on the back). Update the classic downtown name necklace to a modern bar-style piece, throw on a pile of slim bangles and finish with heels (leather or suede for attitude. Kitten heels are purrfectly acceptable ;)). Alternatively, go for a classic polo. This is admittedly has more of a preppy vibe. Feel free to own that. Add a bit of quirk and fun with a newsboy cap –it’s the more sophisticated cousin of the baseball cap and helps elevate the track pants or sweats (It can be skipped, however, should hats not be your scene today (or any day)). Enhance the athleticism by finishing the look with sneakers. Add statement earrings for just the right dash of sass. The low pony was born to be used with looks such as this, so def give that a try, or any look that’s similarly sleek, yet carefree. One last note: if you just can’t red, consider other Carmell-ian options like leopard, camo, olive or beige.
Brie: This reminds me of some of the Bella's ring gear looks from around 2011-12! I love the red and black - can't say I'm surprised by that color combo 'cuz it is Nikki, after all ;). That cut-away high-neck style is HOT, especially with the way the central zipper anchors the rest of the bodysuit. The skirt works really well here - I can't say I'd love it for a different event/occasion, but as a performance piece, it's fab! The thigh-highs add a contemporary twist that I can't help but appreciate. I might have liked a slightly less harsh hairstyle - a higher bun or tendrils - but it depends on the angle I catch, so let's call it approved :). This is classic Nikki: sleek, sexy and fearless.
Kim: I totally agree with you Brie! This outfit is very reminiscent of some Bella ring gear. I'm not sure if that was on purpose or not, but either way it's totally fabulous. For her first week on DWTS, Nikki wow'd us in this red-hot ensemble. I'm basically in love with everything here; the colour, the zipper detail, the choker neckline, the skirt! If you look closely at her feet, you can see she's wearing strappy red heels. I'm soo glad she added the embellished red thigh-highs. It gives the illusion of tall boots and honestly completes the look. Stay Fearless, Nikki B! If you're looking for a simple, casual bodysuit...or just neeeed a piece of clothing that's exactly the same as Barbie wore :), consider the Oh Me Oh My from Free People. It's done in a soft, lightweight knit blend* fabric that happens to be machine-washable (score!) and has a versatile classic silhouette. Caveat: the deep-v will likely require an under-layer to be professional-situation appropriate, so bear that in mind when determining sizing. The best part of this piece is that it comes in a multitude of gorge colors - not only the olive tone worn by Barbie, but also lilac, rose, wine, even a cool black and white stripe. Layer it under a sheer shirt with cropped denim right now and under a bomber or faux fur coat come winter.
*I love the softness of rayon - it's hard to beat it for comfort. As a rule though, I gravitate more toward natural fabrics over synthetics or semi-synthetics like this. Oggh..how is it possible to look so casual and so chic at the same time?! Barbie slayed in this set from Kyna Collection that pairs wide-leg drawstring pants and a double-breasted duster-length jacket. She layered a cropped beige top below for a perfect dose of color. I'm head-over-heels for the way this outfit, despite doubtless being super-comfortable and laidback, also retains plenty of sophistication. These are not your everyday drawstring pants! And the ultra-long jacket makes a huge, stylish statement. It's fab from stem to stern! Next, she subtly got her USA on with this vintage-tinged polka dot bikini (this is the only time I'm ever grateful for something not being yellow!) from Frankie's Bikinis. I love that it's Fourth Of July appropriate without being the expected stars-and-stripes iteration. The red trim brings a spark to the set, as well as a modern touch that keeps it fresh and current. With her flowing blonde hair, sunnies and a drink her hand, Barbie is the picture of a flawless, dreamed-about summer day! From there, she heads into punk territory with this sweatshirt dress from Mistress Rocks. The length of this piece makes it quite versatile. For summer it works just as Barbie has styled it: as a mini dress, paired with strappy sandal-booties and a chain-handled bag that enhances the punk vibe. For transitional days, add fishnet stockings and motorcycle boots to head even further down Avenue Punk. For winter, it metamorphosizes easily into a tunic: style it with leggings and OTK boots...and possibly a thermal underneath ;). It gets all fierce-grunge when Barbie layers a House of CB scoopneck cami and cut-off jean shorts below an H & M oversize jacket. Barbie has become quite fond of this mid-length style topper this year; we've seen her use it several times with great effect, adding a fun shot of panache to whatever look she incorporates it in. An Hermes belt and Guess peeptoe OTK boots round off this look with a hint of flash and a big dose of attitude. She got serious about Western-wear for a Dierks Bentley concert, going with fringed beige knee-high boots, which completed a cropped white tank and cut-off white jean shorts combination. She didn't leave out the fierce though: she topped the ensemble with a strappy-sleeved jacket from Hot Miami Styles (which reminds me of the sleeves of this jacket of Sasha's). It brings a definite urban, trendy vibe to a classic Americana look.
