There is one aspect of fashion that is totally unique to wrestling: ring gear! Yeah, other sports have gear. It's colorful, functional and generally interesting in it's own way. But wrestling isn't only about sport. It requires tremendous athleticism, but it's also about entertainment. there's an element of theater and performance art that infuses the athletic ability and allows ring gear to shine in a place and way all it's own. Come on: how many other sports have studded epaulets, fur capes, be-crystaled crop tops? Ummm...few to none. Ring gear has come a long, long way from the early days of professional wrestling and we're oh so grateful that it has! Every week, we get to feast our eyes on the fierce and fabulous looks brought to us by the ladies of wrestling: lacing, plaid, leather, sequins, torn-up, slicked down, glamourous, edge-y, cool girl, sporty chick - if it exists in fashion, you'll find it here. And you'll find it with it's very own practical, functional twist. ...because wrestling gear has to do more than just look good! It has to get in the ring and work, day in, day out. It's fashion with a job to do, couture with a 9 to 5. And that makes it incredibly special.

On every girl's list of "gotta have one" pieces is the leather jacket. Its undeniably tough character adds a dash of attitude to any ensemble. And any fashionista knows that strong vibe can be used to bring character to a myriad of looks. It brings a rockstar feel to denim and tees, a streetwise punch to motorcycle pants and studs, a careless free-spiritedness to a fancy ball skirt, a take-no-prisoners-drama to a form-fitting sheath. There's a reason why this piece is a wardrobe staple for almost every Diva and KO. Some of them even collect it in multiple colors (looking at you Foxy Fierce ...and lovin' ya for it! :)) Thank Gaga for the creation and many iterations of the perpetually cool leather jacket!
When you think "classic" makeup style, you must think "red lip". It's so vintage, it's so right now, it's so every decade. It always adds punch to an outfit, whether it's the pop of color against a palette of neutrals or one more bright hue against a rainbow of brilliant shades. Nothing says fierce and fabulous like the vibrant red lip, be it scarlet, crimson, Chinese, fire engine or vermilion. Dress it up, dress it down: either way, it's always hot! And that's why we're grateful that once upon a time, someone invented the red lip!
Few things are as sleek, as versatile and as classic as the pencil skirt. Ever since Dior showed off the style in his 1954 Autumn/Winter collection, fashion icons have picked it as a go-to item because of its simplicity, clean lines and smooth, stylish vibe. It's one of those items that every girl needs at least one of. Pair a midi length with a crop top for a modern coord set. Do it in leather and pair it with a graphic tee for an instant cool-girl look. Go for the ever-chic knee length and match it with a button down and polished blazer for the office. Choose a mini and pair it with a fierce top for a party, or something feminine and sexy for date night. See - however you work it, it works! It just might be the greatest skirt shape ever ;) and that's why we're ever so grateful Dior thought of it...merci, Monsieur!
OMG what would we DO without denim? From days of being stretched over cowboy's saddles to it's current wear-it-with-everything couture trend, denim is a fabric that has earned it's place in the annals of style! I live in it upwards of 50% of the time and clearly, so do the KO's and Divas. It's practical, wears well and switches gears from boho to rocker to city-girl without a moment's pause (for those times when you have to go from day to date with 5 minutes to change). It's perfect for a walk to the beach or a photoshoot...or a photoshoot while walking to the beach;) . It pairs as well with a tee as with a blazer, and as well with boots as high heels. In fact, it's as close to a do-it-all fabric as you can get. And that is why it's a fabric we're soooo grateful for! Dear Denim, love you!!
It's important to stay grateful, to focus on your blessings, be happy for the things you have....even if they're small, simple things. As we head into the season of giving thanks, it occurs to us that we're grateful for fashion! It never stands us up, always keeps it's word, always gives us the chance to feel like our best selves. We're dang grateful that there's such a thing as fashion! We'll be showing it by taking a look at lots of little pieces of fashion that we're oh so happy to have in existence...little things, simple things, but awesome things nonetheless, thing we're profoundly, daily grateful for!
WWE gives us one of the SEXIEST new 'shoots we've seen in a long long time with this set of boxing-inspired snaps. The gym setting, the athleticism, the sweat: this is like a Muscle & Fitness shoot, spiked with a pinch of Vogue.
Becky kicks things off with a black and white ensemble. Her textured shorts add her usual twist of quirkiness to an attractively torn and tattered tank, layered over a seductive bralette. It's a cerebral play on the whole setting: it's designed to go hard and kick a$$..phalt in, but it's also not. The dog tags and gold cuff bracelet make that clearer, even as they add to the tough-chick vibe. I love the duality going on here, the subtle tension between the blood, the tears and the gloss-over of it all for a 'shoot. I also love Becky's confidence in this set of snaps. She seems more at home in front of the camera than ever before. The deep-shadowed shot of her leaning on the wall is a personal favorite, although her fabulous leaning-through-the-ring-ropes pose is the cover-worthy shot. |
