I love the floral on this dress Cathy chose for a November red carpet event! The simple color combination really pops and the small scale of the floral looks delicate and has a vintage quality to it. It would have been a jazz to see her enhance that with a sweeter hair style, but I can also see her logic in playing against it with this sleek, modern central-part style. I do find it just a bit harsh in this case, as I often do, but Cathy is one of the few who can pull the look off successfully in most cases. Subtly sexy black ankle strap sandals complete her look. It’s all about the red and black again, but in a totally different way, for her next outfit, a casual combo of a white turtleneck and blue jeans, topped with a statement buffalo-plaid overcoat. The bold pattern and strong color completely makes this ensemble, giving it interest and a comfy-meets-cool vibe. I also love the textural contrast and attitude of the studded belt. It adds a secondary connotation that gives depth to the presentation. She makes a similarly successful contrast with her next look by pairing a sequined bomber with a lace cami and slim black pants. It’s a femme-glam-mod causal mash-up that I just adore, firstly because…glitter! …and secondly because of the fun juxtaposition of genres. The sleekness of her central-parted low pony works perfectly here, grounding the outfit and keeping it form feeling at all frilly. You could easily take this look in an athleisure direction by completing it with black, white or metallic sneakers, or keep the mod-femme vibe going with a pointed flat.
Charlotte combined a delicately moody dark floral print with leather pants for her Wrestlemania Pre-Sale meet-n-greet. I love the look of the artistic print combined with the smooth, toughness of the leather, as well as the way the print colors enliven the look, keeping it dark but not drab. Her black military boots continue the theme from the pants, which works well. I feel like there’s some tiny touch missing that could give this outfit more intensity and consequence – perhaps a half-tuck or a ponytail and statement earrings – but I’m totally on board for each of the elements and the way they work together.

I’m practically still living on the high from this year’s Royal Rumble. After the thrill of the incredible performances from the current crop of girls, there were the chills and shivers of all the returns: the Bellas! Beth! And the DoD reunion! The feeeeeeeels! Barbie! I caught my breath when Michelle ran in – I never thought I would see her wrestle again! I was back to the early days of my fandom in a heartbeat. It was 2010 and everything was flawless and filled with real talk and FIERCENESS. Omg. And Trish! And Lita slaying! And when Vickie “excuse me”d…I lost it. Like, gone. Brb. Annnddd. The Big Dub did not disappoint with this one. It took me some time to chill a smidge and savor it all. And then, there was the plethora if ring gear to examine and rave over :)…which I shall now do, in print. Are you ready to rrrrrrrruuuuuumble?
The Glamazon looked as if she last stepped out of a ring just yesterday in this black and white rendition of her trademark gear. While Beth went through a few variations of her gear (including a skirted version, several different side cutouts and an iteration or two with lace-up pants), this is the style that seems synonymous with her. I love this perfect recreation, right down to her trademark headpiece and the in-flight phoenix. The color scheme accents the cool, powerful an practical nature of the design. It has no intention of being sexy…and that’s sexy as h**l! You would be well within the boundary of smart logic to cower in fear at the entrance of the Glamazon…especially when it became apparent that her skill set was 100% intact… Unless, of course, you are Natalya :). The Divas of Destruction sharing a hug in the center of the ring was a standout of the many special moments of this inaugural Rumble. Nattie wore a an iteration of the one-piece that has become her signature look. This one combined the striping and be-crystalled “shield” front we’ve seen previously with additional pink piping and crystals (of course ;)). Set on a latex backdrop, the look is sleek, but glamorous and , like Beth’s gear, practical, despite its fierceness and opulence. While I can’t help but have favorites among the many variations of this gear, there’s no doubt that this series represents Nattie at her absolute ring-fashion best, melding haute couture with performance wear in an unforgettable way. Bayley really didn’t have to do much to get me to adore her gear beside wear it in yellow :) (#FavoriteColorSyndrome). That said, I’m in for her new addition of fringe on her pants. Surprising, no? True, it’s a bit crazy from a fashion standpoint, but the movement is creates is super cool and after the multitude of patterns and graphics on her previous looks, this feels cleaner and lets me appreciate the details and all that free-spirited color – which comes off effervescent and exciting now that it has chance to shine. I love the sprinkling of stars over her top and boots –it’s perfect pattern for her, on trend but also fitting for her taste and style. All of this in combination easily makes this set my current favorite of all her gear outfits! I’ve never kept my love for shoes anything close to a secret. Whenever the Superstars (*whispers Diiiiivvvaaaaassss*) wear some incredible pairs, I go wild – especially if they’re designer because, face it, a little vicarious expensive-stiletto enjoyment never hurt anyone. We tend to see a lot of Louboutins from our fellow Superstar shoe-lovers. We see a good bit of Giuseppe Zanotti, too. And Louis Vuitton. And Stuart Weitzman. And I rave over all of them because…shoes! Then again, there are tonssss of amazing designers outside of the above Quad Squad that I totally wouldn’t mind seeing the ladies get their heels in. For instance? Oh, I was so hoping you’d ask! Come share my little fashion fantasy :)
I can’t help but miss the days when we got a fair number of actual character-enhancing, style-inspiring photoshoots, instead of galleries and recreations. I mean, these things are fun and I appreciate so much how hard the ladies work at telling the stories in these ‘shoots. That said, the role play concept is a little bland on the fashion front. And never more so than here, where we have the ladies dressing up as guys who don’t dress all that well (who thought this was a good idea? Show of hands, please). I loooove when gals borrow from the guys, but I’m hoping for something exciting: double breasted pinstripe suits, fedoras, sharp tailoring, a tie or two, a pocket square. I’ll settle for cuff links if I have to. For this concept, though, the girls are bound by what the men of the Attitude era wore, in order to recreate the look. Lana pushed the boundaries farthest by having to come up with a solution to the Rock’s open-shirted style. Her choice of a lace bodysuit was a smart and suitable choice that both maintained the Rock-like vibe and injected a dose of feminine sensuality, that enlivened the look and threw a new angle into it. That is how your borrow – you don’t just copy, you make it your own. Her selection of a loud, abrasive button-down was perfect and she nailed the massive watch, chains and sunglasses, making herself into quite a creditable Rock. Those bright red lips made for one more parting shot of ladylike attitude, one that would make The Smirk (with raised eyebrow, of course) all that much more attention-getting. Take that, Dwayne. Carmella’s take on Chris Jericho was equally well-chosen – her mirror-like metallic zip-front piece is throwing enough light to tan by, an immediate reminder that I always felt the need to reach for SPF 75 when Jericho walked in. He’d approve of her rocker-esque lace-up leggings as well (which I’m pretty sure are the same ones we saw Becky wearing on her trip to Boca Juniors Stadium. I love her high half-ponytail , which also happens to be an authentic Jericho detail, though one he might perhaps like to forget ;). She channels his attitude to perfection. The most disappointing look in this gallery comes from Natalya and Charlotte, but its lack of appeal has nothing to do with them or their efforts. They’re spot on in their interpretation of Edge and Christian, right down to the skull cap, bright wristbands and sunglasses! It’s entirely authentic and it’s obvious they had fun with it. Their enthusiasm can’t help but make me smile and I salute them for that! The sad corollary, however, is that spandex paired with muscle tanks just really doesn't have much fashion zing. I’m not even sure how you would style that pairing to give it fashion zing. Or even fashion zan. Oh well. Nat and Char did an excellent job with a fashion hand that was the equivalent of being dealt a joker. I guess this is price you pay for getting Balmain for the Total Divas ‘shoot :). Dear WWE: more Balmain for your Superstar ladies, less spandex!
A little more Brandi love kicks off this FashionHap, starting with this incredible velvet off-the-shoulder dress. The color is similar to the lace coord set I was raving over last time, with similar stunning-ness (did Brie just make up a word again? Most likely.) This silhouette is incredibly elegant and, despite being totally ‘right now’, it also has a timeless quality – in ten years, it will be just as appropriate. Brandi completed the look with nude pumps for a more formal interpretation, but you could just as easily style this piece with black booties and a leather jacket draped over your shoulders for a casual look. Her next outfit showcases a lovely mix of elements. It starts with an apparently simple navy dress – until you get down to the cool architectural detail of the asymmetric hemline. Pointy-toe ankle booties in black suede add a shot of fierceness. Top this with a black trench and you have power dressing at its finest. Instead, Brandi threw a curve ball and added a classic tote - in neon candy pink! This effervescent, joyous color lightens the mood of the look dramatically. Instead of power and seriousness, it becomes about sophistication and FASHION. I love how this one choice makes such a tremendous impact on the statement the look makes! From there, she gives us a chic, casual look that channels a bit fo the 70’s, spun up with a bit of now. She pairs a floral bell-sleeved crop top with a denim mini skirt and completes the look with beige suede OTK’s. While her top feels feminine and nostalgic, the other two pieces modernize the look and give it and edge. To keep the 70’s vibe, this could be styled with a midi A-line denim piece.
Brooke unleashed her rock-star side with this night-out ensemble. A graphic tee with an eye-catching cut-out underlies a classic denim jacket and pocket-revealing cut-off jean shorts. And there’s no slowing down – she kept the fierce raging by finishing the look with suede OTKs. Everything about this combination is grunge-punk attitude! Her statement earrings (and I love that she did her hair in a ponytail so we really get to see them!) and cuff bracelets add a touch of shine and glam. It’s so much fun seeing Brooke go hard on a look like this -she does it so well! Carmella instagrammed this super cool pairing of a star printed romper from Love Culture with mid-calf booties. Mid-calf can be a tricky height to utilize, but they work really well here because there’s plenty of space between the top of the bot and the hem of the romper. I love the way they bring attitude and a street vibe to the fashion vibes of this star print. I can be in or out on these kinds of patterns, but this is a particularly pretty rendition! The wide choker is the perfect complement to complete the look. Question of the moment: can Brie review three months of fashion before the end of the year? Welp…I have zero clues. But I’m gonna try :).
Barbie’s late September gem of a look is a New Year’s outfit waiting to happen. I was wild over this the instant I saw it: denim button down, sequin pencil skirt – what’s not to love? Barbie completed the look with leg-lengthening nude pumps and kept her make-up soft as well, letting the shine from her skirt be the main focus. I love how this outfit is both relaxed and party-worthy at the same time! PS I would also happily do this look with a flannel buttondown ;) Brandi showed off this snap on her Instagram, which seems to be from a photoshoot with Cody and herself. That dress tho! Lace, appliqué, sheer – it’s a total confection of gorgeousness wrapped up in an LBD. Brandi tones it down by keeping her hair long and loose and accenting it simply, with nude pumps, making the overall ensemble come off incredibly chic. I love this girl’s style! Have I mentioned that? (Only perpetually, yes?). Lana updated her previous tv look (this vest+pencil skirt combo which reminded me of her early Ravishing Russian style) with red lapels. She echoed the shade in her lips and lovely ankle strap heels. I love her in red – it’s a stunning color for her, so I like this iteration very much. I do hope she’s going to do more than change lapel colors for this era, though, ‘cuz that could get old in a hurry. Lana has a wonderful sense of style, so I’m placing my bets on seeing her change up a bit more soon. Charlotte often reaches for black monochrome looks for her tv appearances, and she does it again here, pairing a black cropped top with leather leggings and suede knee boots. The silhouette created by this pairing is a little challenging for her body type, which is quite straight. While the leggings help to define her waist, the top kind of cancels that out and makes her look more blocky. A looser and/or blousonne-style top would work better for these super-skinny bottoms. Alternatively, shortening the height of the crop just slightly, so it hit at the narrowest part of her body could work too. We saw Alexa go for a similar look, using nearly all black, with leather leggings on the bottom. Blissy paired them with a simple, longer-length tank and topped the ensemble with a printed, gray hooded vest. I love the look of the shorter vest layered over the longer tank, as well as the sporty vibe it brings to the look. I’m super glad she added the hardware-embellished ankle booties! They add that totally needed dose of jazz to the look. Charlotte gave us a full back view of her black sequin cape during her time in Shenzhen, China. I love when she gives us still like this – it really lets me appreciate all the detail in her gear designs and there is a lot of it! Like the rest of the fashion world, I’m obsessed with flowers at the moment, so the embroidered ones on the back of this cape have me drooling! They’re so gorgeous and the color-scheme is crave-worthy, especially set against the black shimmer, which highlight the mix of green, blue and lime flawlessly. Where can I get a duster like this, pretty please? (Ahem…looking at you, WWE Shop!).
Emma’s time off yielded a fair number of fun looks. Here, we seeing her staying true to her love of colorful prints in this royal blue maxi dress. The fact that the print is confined to certain areas of the piece, instead of being all-over, helps it to feel more polished and not overwhelming. She happens to be barefoot in this shot, but I especially like that this breezy dress would lend itself perfectly to flat sandals during the summer months, as well as to ankle booties in the fall. A number of divas have become devotes of Agaci Store in recent months. Gail is the latest to jump on board, as she wears this golden yellow set, pairing wide-leg pants with a matching lace blouse. The combination of flowing pants like these with a slim top is always incredibly chic. On top of that, I adore Gail in intense colors and I adore yellow, so this look is pretty much a lovefest for me from stem to stern :). I also need to call out her hairstyle here – the side part, the amayyzzzzing volume: it’s absolutely stunning! Simple gold hoops add a hint of flash to this look. We don’t see her shoes, but nude or metallic pumps would be high on my list. The sweet sunshine is gone and full-on FIERCE is in for Gail’s latest in-ring look. This reminds me of the leather bodysuit gear she used a few years ago that slayed our world, except this time, it’s done in a knit and the plunge front is filled with racy fishnet mesh. Daaayyyuuuuum. Girlfriend knows how to kill it! Her coordinating net OTK’s -from Agaci store – ensure that the killage is complete from head to toe. Smoky eyes and a pale lip give her outfit center stage. The volume in her hair is just as gorgeous the second time around. I’ll brb – I have to run get a winch to haul my jaw off the ground. |
