Wrestlemania 34 featured the first - and hopefully inaugural – Battle Royal for the Lady Superstars and there was a LOT of ring gear flying around the squared circle…and out of it! Consequently, we decided to dedicate an entire post to :) breaking it down, analyzing it and raving over it. Are you stoked yet? We are! First, a clarification: although Nia is part of our collage here, she was not part of the Battle Royal; she won the Raw Women’s Championship later in the evening, defeating Alexa Bliss. So why is she here? Basically, we had this awesome snap of her gear to show off, so show it off we did! :)

The ladies of WWE brought their fashion game to the Superstars For Hope event, giving us some fabulous formal looks for this charity night, which benefits the boys and Girls Clubs of America this year.
Dana Warrior looks fantastic every time I see her and she rocked it again here, wearing a highlighter yellow gown done in notoriously challenging charmeuse satin. Naturally, I’m wild over the color of this dress :), but Im also super-impressed with the fit. Charmeuse can be unforgiving but we see no evidence of it here. It fits Dana flawlessly and we get to concentrate on the effect of the movement and the beautiful sheen. She added some warmth to the look by completing it with metallic gold sandals. Her long, loose hairstyle kept the ensemble from feeling excessively formal and her smoky eye and pale rose lip looked gorgeous! Renee chose a scarlet mini dress covered in massive paillettes that reminds me of something Paco Rabanne would do (The piece is from House of Harlow 1960). I love how the black-on-red represents a unique take on the classic sequin dress. This piece is so much fun! Renee completed it with block-heeled ankle strap pumps. Her red lip is the perfect way to carry the color upward. This whole look is fab, especially with her short, platinum hair – it really makes the red pop! Carmella’s choice was equally stellar: a teal sequined gown by Stello that wrapped into a ruffle at her hip. This gown has me in ecstasies! The color is heavenly and the daring lines of that bold ruffle give the piece distinction and a futuristic quality that’s crave-worthy! Carmella added glittering, silvery statement earrings that accented the gown’s cool shimmer (I loved the snaps where she flipped all of her hair over one shoulder so we could really see them!) and completed the look with platform ankle strap sandals. This is a glorious choice of dress. It’s fabulous here, and could easily have worked for the Hall Of Fame as well. So, about forty years after the Rumble, WWE managed to release photoshoot-style snaps of the ladies in their ring gear, under the guise of celebrating International Women’s Day. Ok, Big Dub, whatever. It’s a gear ‘shoot and I’m good with that. No need to try to convince me its anything else. So, now about forty years after they released it, I’m reviewing it…under the guise of rounding up the Royal Rumble :). I like that these snaps give you a close and clear look at each of the ladies’ in-ring looks and it allows me to comment on a few of the gals I couldn’t acquire good pics of the first time around.
Aaaaand Becky isn’t in her gear, but this actually looks like it could have been. Its a taste of her chill-gal-meets-medieval-punk stylings that we saw early in 2017. The hints of metal give this look a nice touch of flash and the rust and black tones work beautifully with her hair. While I would have found this a little lowkey for a major event like the Rumble, I could get behind her wearing this for a tv event. We got a very mixed bag of snaps from Axxess Day 3 - everything from full body shots to partial torsos. The latter naturally make it somewhat difficult to review per se, but being the fashion lover I am, I try to at least make a comment or two :).
Charlotte went for a classic combination of red and black, pairing a halter cropped top with stunning red wide-leg pants. She gets huge props for trying out the wide leg style and I really love how she makes it work. The key to the trend is defining the waist one way or another (which allows the pants to work their long, leggy magic). Charlotte's choice of the crop top accomplishes this perfectly. This shade of red is glorious - intense and attention getting. By doing it as the larger, bolder piece in her look , Charlotte gave it extra significance and made the whole outfit stand out. Leave it to Alicia to slay the life out of an Axxess outift! I LOVE this look - her burgundy suede overall dress (yes - a dress with an overall top. This one is the Jameson Leather Overall Dress x For Love & Lemons via Mulaner. A few also available in black at lexandlynne.com) is super fun in and of itself, but with studs? Fierce, baby! So fierce! But Her Foxiness doesn't stop there. She adds trendiness to uniqueness and fierceness by layering an off-shoulder tank underneath it for a completely incredible casual look. This is how you make laidback be totally NOT boring! A short collar pendant necklace and a low bun complete this amazing look. Nia went for a black monochrome outfit, which is solid throughout. She does an excellent job mixing textures for visual interest by topping a knit tee and black leggings with a leather-panelled knit waterfall jacket. I haven't seen enough of her fashion choices to know if all black is something she gravitates to often. If that's her preference and what she enjoys, that rocks! But I do get sad when I think that a number of curvier ladies stay with black because they've been told 18 million times over that it's slimming. The way an outfit looks on the body is much more about cut, fabric and visual geometry than color. So, curvy chicks, if you love color , this is my personal plea to you: don't shy away from it! Have some fun with your palette :) Summer kept things light with a blush tank (or tank dress) with tonal striping. A pretty ivory lace choker accented the look. One thing that I love very much about this piece is that it definitely seems to not be a coord set :). Also, the softness of the combination is gorgeous for hot weather -light neutrals always have a dewy fresh quality. The Wrestlemania Golf Tournament always turns up some interesting fashion. It can be a bit tricky to have functional athletic gear that's still cute too :). Dana goes for ultra trendy sage green with her tee and pairs it with wild mixed-print leggings. I like the way her tee coordinates with the dusty green tones in the marble patterning. Mickie earns some props by bringing color into her look as well. I can't say I'd immediately reach for these plum knee socks with their cobalt stripes, but I love the way they add a big punch of color to her look - as well as coordinating quite nicely with her playful polka dot polo (I get points every time I use alliteration :)). Set against the look's major hue of bright white, the color really works fabulously. Also, how cute is Mickie with glasses? So cute, right?! I wish she had put her hair in a ponytail and really showed them off! Naturally, Alicia slays her golf tourney look - pretty sure she does this by habit now :). Her checked pants are whimsical and so so fun! She pairs them with a classic black tee and then tops it all with a luxe fur vest - how often you see one of those on the golf course?! The texture is fantastic, but the surprise of the inclusion of such a piece is even more so. Oh, and she's not done: Foxy finishes the outfit with a black fedora embellished with a massive burgundy peony. That piece is completely aaaaaaaahmazing! This whole look is fabulous...and totally Foxy - relaxed, unusual, bold, creative and pulled together. Girlfriend is slaying that golf course like a catwalk! This killer causal look would be equally at home in a coffeehouse, shopping, a girl squad lunch,..so many places! Cathy gives Foxy a lil' style competition with her look - she pairs a black v-neck tee and a caramel leather skirt with oh-so-trendy pleats. I'm guessing she finished her outfit with the black sneakers each of the other ladies were sporting as well, which works perfectly in my book, picking up on the athleisure trend, as well as being functional for actual athletics. Like Foxy's ensemble, Cathy's look would be quite fab off the course as well. Nicely done, ladies!
Charlotte wasn’t the only one who broke out some new gear for Hell In A Cell. Sasha debuted a variation on her trademark ringwear silhouette which paired camo with red. Camo can be hard to coordinate with, as it’s traditional tones are quite dusty, yet the pattern is busy. The red adds a big spark to the muted colors and gets full marks form me for being a unique combo. I like the subtle metallic flash of the silver piping, although I wonder if bronze might have helped to unite the red and the camo a little better. Overall, I think the pairing works quite well – it’s different and attractive, doesn’t fall victim to being wither too complex or too bland. Nice choice, Sash!
Dana hit a huuuuge high note with this look; it’s easily my favorite ring gear look from her ever! The halter shape looks aaaaaafreakingmazing on her, the scrollwork is really beautiful and adds an artistic flourish to the gear. The sheer inset, crossed with crystal-embellished straps adds just the right touch of au courant sexiness, while the additional sprinklings of sparklers on the black background ramp up the glam factor. The strappy side-slits on her pants echo botht the design of her top and it’s sultry flavor, while the chevron-to-chevron design of her top and pants-waistband works precisely how it’s intended to. Lastly, she ditched the cropped legging hemline and went for full-length pants, which lengthened the line of the gear and made for a smooth transition to her boots, elongating her legs. So much “yes!” on that! Synopsis: this gear to totally FLAWLESS. Awesome job! Post HIAC, Charlotte was playing with texture in this black monochrome look where she paired a leather-look top with a moto jacket, structured denim and luxe suede. The mix of smooth and lush brings a nice dose of visual interest to an ensemble that’s simple in terms of its color story. I wouldn’t have minded seeing her add a little pop via a bright lip, or drama with a darker one, but this soft pink one works and her side French braids are so pretty! Lana's NYC style swung from downtown girl to uptown chic when she dressed for this Reading Celebration. She exchanged her denim and sneakers for this sleek, cutout pantsuit in a sophisticated shade of navy and completed the polished look with strappy sandals. I love the way the black and navy works together, as well as the way her pretty blonde messy braids keep the look casual and down-to-earth. If I were going to split hairs, I think I'd advocate a piece bold gold statement jewelry somehwere...but who needs to split hairs all the time? ;)
Jojo put together a super-cool outfit for the same Reading Celebration, pairing a simple black tee with oversized houndstooth pants in a lovely combo of ivory and almond. I love the way the unusual scale of the houndstooth takes it from classic to graphic and give the outfit it's pop! She topped it all with a cropped black zip jacket - another piece I'm mad for. Every girl needs a casual, fierce jacket like this to pair with...oh, EVERYthing. Jojo finished the look with black ankle booties. I think I would have leaned toward pointy toe leather pumps here, but I like the way the booties make the outfit feel more laidback. Stephanie hopped on the white trend when she visited a New York city-area children's hospital in this simple white sheath. This is the kind of classic look we see often from Stephanie and here, as in many cases, it's just right. A simple, polished statement is classy, professional and stylish. I'd wager she paired this look with black sandals. I could also see adding a scarf to this outfit- it would maintain the same refined feel, while bringing in a touch of color. I tend to gravitate toward that idea when visiting hospitals as they can sometimes feel quite drab to those who are healing. A bit of brightness in an outfit can bring a happy spark. Dana's contribution to the SummerSlam festivities was a visit to a Be A Star rally, where she wore this ribbed sand-colored tunic over black leggings. Although I'd sort of have loved if this was a maxi dress instead of a tunic, this is definitely one of my favorite looks from Dana. I love the chic color combination and the trendy pieces. Her statement necklace brought just the right spike of glamour, along with those fabulous Rockstud pumps (you can always get me with a great pair of shoes! ;)). Her straight, side-parted hair is flawless. This is such a great styling from Dana; it doesn't try too hard and it fits her fashion sense - she owns the look, not the other way around. Loving it! I've made mention - Honorable Mention to be exact :) - of Alexa's super cool gear previously (see our 2016 Ring Gear Awards for details). Her SummerSlam outfit is one more in the line-up of gear that makes us eeee! Black plus something seems to be her current theme and this time around, the "something" turned out to be silver, a ttly fierce match-up for black. that goes double when it's emblazoned with tiny crystals. Oh, and let's not forget the studs at the hems, straps and waists. Basically, Alexa's look is a treasure trove of all things good in gear embellishment. Add to that metal gloves and glitter in her hair and we're just...SLAY US, girl #KneelingInWait. Naomi is next up, attending a Special Olympics basketball game in blue and white plaid leggings with a denim bustier top and a denim vest layer over all. I'm kind of borderline about each element individually, but they work well together and Nay-nay gets props for playing with proportion by layering the longer vest over a high-waisted style of pant. I'm also a fan of how she paired this casual look with boots; they fit the laidback vibe. They're my fave part of the look...along with her neon lime hair color - that's HOT! |
