We saw Lana working the short hair with this street look and I like the way the sharp, edgy cut acts as a counterpoint to the easy movement of her long cardi. She rocked the rainbow trend with a cropped top that made for a fun proportion-play when paired with her high-waisted jeans. Even though there are a number of 80’s vibes in this look –including her white pointed booties -, it feels like a very modern moment. While sweater-ensembles can often feel very laidback, the bootie silhouette and her hair combine to give this one polish and trendy attitude. She amped that vibe up with her next outfit, a sporty striped knit sheath dress, paired with white sneakers. A red lip provided the exclamation point for this look. This styling is so easy to just throw on an yet, it looks completely pulled together. So, basically your perfect summer outfit. Toss a bomber or military jacket over your shoulders and wear now.
Laurel (aka Chelsea Green) was looking fierce and fearless in this crimson snake-print workout set. Her dark hair complements the mood of these piece perfectly and the high pony is super-cute! Anyone else getting Rep-era Taylor Swift vibes? I can def see a character like that working for her – a little psycho, a little rebel, a little fashion queen. Yep, yep.

Barbie was looking cool and fierce in this off-shoulder cropped top! She paired it with leather leggings for a nice textural contrast that upped the fierce quotient significantly. White pointed boots provide a sharp contrast and complete the look with a punch. It’s a perfect example of Barbie’s trademark sexy-chic style!
I am wild over Cathy’s stunning choice for the Kids’ Choice awards – this coral dress is just gorgeous! I love the glorious color, the unique shape of the strapless neckline (the higher sides and low, slow scoop), the beautiful origami-like folds and the asymmetric hemline. Perhaps my favorite aspect of the piece is the substantial faille fabric (silk perhaps?), which gives the piece drama and presence. Everything about this is stunning. I wish she had done something a touch more intricate with her hair: a messy side braid or braided headband. I like the casualness of the long and loose style, but a little extra polish would have sealed the deal. Her nude strappy sandals keep the look light for spring, which was an excellent choice. I’d have loved to see that idea repeated with her bag. Overalls can be tricky to style in a non-farming vibe, but Brie rocks them here by layering a gray thermal underneath this unique pair. The denim piece eschews the classic square front and goes with a deep v instead which gives them a casual sophistication that works fabulously with the textured under-layer. Brie enhances the silhouette by leaving several buttons of the thermal undone, echoing the overall’s neckline. She reiterates the casually chic vibe by adding a massive silver statement necklace with handmade feel that’s perfect blend of bold, stylish and laidback. Suede mules or leather ankle booties would be my pick to round out this ensemble. I can’t resist the buoyant spirit of this spring look from Alicia, which pairs a black tulle skirt with a multi-glittered star-embellished tank. The dark main hue prevents the look from feeling too youthful or silly; instead, it comes off quirky and fun! With the shot’s forest backdrop and her free-spirited pose, Foxy reminds me of a modern sprite, frolicking about in her woodland home. This kind of expressive risk-taking is something I absolutely adore about her style! From there, she swings into 70’s summer style, pairing cut-off jean shorts first with a graphic tank and leather vest and then with a caramel patched and fur-trimmed one. In each case, she add interest to the mix with a colorful printed silk scarf and layers of accessories: multiple pendant necklaces, oversize sunnies, a statement ring. Her reading of the genre feels both authentic and modern at the same time – a real fashion feat! She follows the current trend loosely, but her personal sense of artistic expression predominates and here, as elsewhere, it keeps me endlessly fascinated and appreciative. I particularly love her layering of accessories, as that aspect of the look could easily translate to other genres, from boho, to minimalist to being the twist in a classic look.
Even though this snap was from the spring, it works pretty perfectly for right now, since we’re in the seasonal transition again. Barbie paired a cropped, striped sweater with cropped boyfriend jeans. Despite its superficial simplicity, the proportion play between the slim top and slouchy jeans gives this look a subtle complexity. I’m also loving the Hilfiger-esque vibes. Ankle strap sandals completed the ensemble as we went from winter spring. Right now, I’d complete it with ankle boots :). Barbie showcased mysterious, sensual vibes with this sheer-meets-geometric-lace confection she wore for a March event. She has a talent for pulling off the most daring looks and she slays this piece, looking both beautiful and edgy. A sleek up-do featuring a braided headband adds subtle interest, while giving the dress center stage. Simple black sandals round out the styling. How about these gold-sequin embellished jeans from Fashion Nova? Anyone would be tough to miss with all that glitter! :) With their slim fit and high shine, these have such a so-right now 80’s feel (*resists urge to sing “Stop! Hammer time!”*). Barbie smartly pairs them with the simplest of white tanks, which tempers their big, bold statement. Nude sandals follow suit. As the weather cools, the tank could be easily swapped over to a cream cable sweater to mimic the soft, bright color scheme, or an equally plain black turtleneck for a darker, luxe vibe. Barbie channels the 80’s again with this hot-pink and black bikini that proudly proclaims her “Barbie” status. I love that she embraces that! I also love how cool and fun this look is, with the color combo and the high side-ties. It walks the perfect line between throwback and of-the-moment. Lace-up sandal-booties complete the look with a welcome shot of fierceness.
Wrestlemania 34 featured the first - and hopefully inaugural – Battle Royal for the Lady Superstars and there was a LOT of ring gear flying around the squared circle…and out of it! Consequently, we decided to dedicate an entire post to :) breaking it down, analyzing it and raving over it. Are you stoked yet? We are! First, a clarification: although Nia is part of our collage here, she was not part of the Battle Royal; she won the Raw Women’s Championship later in the evening, defeating Alexa Bliss. So why is she here? Basically, we had this awesome snap of her gear to show off, so show it off we did! :)
The ladies of WWE brought their fashion game to the Superstars For Hope event, giving us some fabulous formal looks for this charity night, which benefits the boys and Girls Clubs of America this year.
Dana Warrior looks fantastic every time I see her and she rocked it again here, wearing a highlighter yellow gown done in notoriously challenging charmeuse satin. Naturally, I’m wild over the color of this dress :), but Im also super-impressed with the fit. Charmeuse can be unforgiving but we see no evidence of it here. It fits Dana flawlessly and we get to concentrate on the effect of the movement and the beautiful sheen. She added some warmth to the look by completing it with metallic gold sandals. Her long, loose hairstyle kept the ensemble from feeling excessively formal and her smoky eye and pale rose lip looked gorgeous! Renee chose a scarlet mini dress covered in massive paillettes that reminds me of something Paco Rabanne would do (The piece is from House of Harlow 1960). I love how the black-on-red represents a unique take on the classic sequin dress. This piece is so much fun! Renee completed it with block-heeled ankle strap pumps. Her red lip is the perfect way to carry the color upward. This whole look is fab, especially with her short, platinum hair – it really makes the red pop! Carmella’s choice was equally stellar: a teal sequined gown by Stello that wrapped into a ruffle at her hip. This gown has me in ecstasies! The color is heavenly and the daring lines of that bold ruffle give the piece distinction and a futuristic quality that’s crave-worthy! Carmella added glittering, silvery statement earrings that accented the gown’s cool shimmer (I loved the snaps where she flipped all of her hair over one shoulder so we could really see them!) and completed the look with platform ankle strap sandals. This is a glorious choice of dress. It’s fabulous here, and could easily have worked for the Hall Of Fame as well. Mid-February found Nikki in this stunning Ronnie Kobo dress, which is perfectly simple, except for its daring cutout back! I love the way the drama of this piece is concentrated around that single detail! Nikki enhanced the effect by wearing a station pendant necklace set to the back; it’s an incredible and perfect choice that looks fabulous and works flawlessly. It also reminds me of the way Coco Chanel wore her pearls dripping down her back in one of her most famous portraits, which does nothing to dissuade me from adoring Nikki’s styling. She added red statement earrings that bring out the colors in the necklace, as well as a black Louis Vuitton bag. We don’t get to see her shoes, but I’m guessing pointy pumps in black or red :). She’s repping Birdiebee in her next look, with the most vintage of snaps. Posed in front of a red theater curtain, she wears a white brassiere and high-waisted brief from the line, topped with a two-tone faux fur jacket. I love the backstage-chanteuse connotation and nostalgic vibe of this shot – it’s gorgeous!
If that snap from Nikki isn’t enough glamour to slay your life, how about this one from Noelle? She’s enjoying a slice of pizza while looking thoroughly fabulous in a ballgown featuring an embellished bustier-type top and a black-and-white striped skirt. She’s topped the look with a cropped faux fur jacket in black and added a statement bracelet to complete the ensemble. Her messy bun is straight up gorge – she needs to wear her hair like this more often! I’m also totally here for her dark cranberry lip, which adds a very modern moodiness to this chic ensemble. I love this shot and I will be adding “eat pizza in a ballgown” to my Must Do In This Lifetime list because of it :). |
