Yes, I am reviewing October fashion. I know, I know.
It was only a matter of time until Barbie explored the latex trend! She dabbled in the fabric with this LBD from House of CB for an October event. The simplicity of this dress is a perfect choice – we don’t see the kind of envelope-pushing cuts Barbie often reaches for. Here, the sensuality all comes from the fabric and, with a daring material like this, it’s exactly the right way to go. Black ankle strap heels complete the look, along with an eye-catching make-up choice: a super-pale nude lip that nearly matches Barbie’s skin tone. While it makes me stop and take notice, I think I would have preferred something a touch warmer – a dusty cinnabar or quartz. Next up is a flowing romper from Planet Blue. The color pairing of camel and black and the looser cut of this piece combine to give it a much more chic and sophisticated feel than your standard version. Barbie adds a shot of fierce with her suede OTK boots and oversized sunnies and look comes together with the kind of unstudied, tantalizing style that is her trademark. From there, she swung into the relaxed modernity of a denim on denim pairing, utilizing J Brand denim. A House of CB bodysuit in olive provided the underlayer, while suede peeptoe OTKs from Pretty Little Thing gave the look some edge. I like the mix of soft neutrals in this outfit. I’d love an embellished bag here to tie everything together! While it’s not really an “outfit” per se, I couldn’t resist sharing this snap from Barbie which featured this show-stopping statement necklace from For The Stars Fashion House, a custom creator of one-of-a-kind designs. With layers of gold chains and crystals, this piece is ahhhhMAYzing! Barbie got the full effect out of it by pairing it with nude bikini bottoms – doesn’t she look like a divine siren, rising up out of the sea?! -, but I’d be interested to see it tried atop a minimalist LBD. She got her grunge on with this combo of a cropped boxy sweatshirt and white denim. I’m not generally a fan of shorts cut to reveal the pockets, as it tends to look messy, but here, it fits the bored-punk theme so well that I’m breaking my rule :). Barbie completed the look with a black and white plaid shirt knotted at her waist on true 90’s style. I love the way it pulls the whole look together!

I love a lot about this look from Mickie! I love that it feels like her, channeling her glam side. I love that it reminds me of something LayCool would wear. I love the irony of Mickie rocking a LayCool look – she’s a long way from Piggy James, babes! The crystal belt gives this ensemble the Western vibe we often see Mickie dabble in, but the pinstriped vest throws in a slightly masculine and very polished curveball that give the pairing a kind of throwback cool. Her pin-straight hair was a perfect choice, bringing sleekness and modernity to the look. She completed it with OTKs in suede – hard to go wrong with that extra shot of fierce!
I’m also digging this look from Natalya. It’s the kind of classicism we’d expect from her in terms of this gorgeous LBD, but that sweetheart neckline? Bring me a fan -that’s hot! Her beauty look is perfection as well. Her shimmery eyes and mauve lip feel uncontrived and look stunning! Nattie’s big glam tv looks are amazing, but I also enjoy seeing her do softer stylings, like this one that seem like something she would wear when she’s not working, just being her gorgeous self. LBD’s were having a moment for her, as she wore another in a midi length during her tour of China. The minimalist aesthetic rules, as she accents it with black pointy pumps, a Louis Vuitton bag, oversize sunnies and nothing else. It’s edited, subtle and oh so chic! Although, I almost missed it because I was totally focusing on what has to e the cutest dragon I have ever seen. That yellow fuzzball is totes adorable and I want one! Yes, I realize it’s someone in a costume. I’m not interested in the someone, but the costume? I want to stick that in a corner of my room and hug it for about a hundred years. I love the way Emma’s fashion began to incorporate more chic elements after her brief foray into being Emmalina! We see evidence of it here, as she paried a cold shoulder cropped top with a pencil skirt for a polished and professional look at a Be A Star rally in Melbourne. Her lace-up booties completed the modern, sensual vibe of the look. This outfit is uncomplicated, but well-chosen and effective.
Lana had her starlet on with this gingham dress from Lioness Fashionwhich showcased both ruffled sleeves and an off-the-shoulder silhouette. This piece is unique in that it’s incredibly glamorous, but not especially fancy. She accented the blue and white check with red ankle strap heels and a scalding red lip. Her high bun is a perfect choice, giving refinement to the look and showing off her statement earrings. She carried a Louis Vuitton tote for a sophisticated, classic finish. It’s too bad we didn’t get good lighting or clarity in the photo of her next look, because it’s a fun one! It looks like Lana topped wide-leg pants with a cropped top and a leather moto jacket. A gorgeous braid added casual beauty to the ensemble. With causal and sporty looks coming in, we’ve seen a lot of looks that feel kind of careless and bland pass as fashion – the kind of thing you’d wear around your house on a Saturday morning but which doesn’t have any real stylish zing to it. This look rocks my world because it embraces a laidback attitude without sacrificing fashionality and stylish intention. (Aside: this look could 100% be recreated with wide-leg track pants and sneakers). She kept the same vibe, but from quite a different direction with her next outfit, a camo jumpsuit. I’m not often a fan of camo, but Lana is selling me on it here with her well-chosen accessories! I love the way she’s styled this piece, rolling it to just below her knee and adding peeptoe mid-calf boots – so fierce! (The peeptoe could be swapped for a closed toe with no issues, too). I’m also on board for the curve-enhancing addition of the wide waist belt. I applaud how she coordinated it with her bag, as well. For myself, I might have leaned toward a black belt and bag, with a touch of hardware for a little extra attitude. Next up fromher is a choker-neck LBD with a super-high side slit. This look is a combo of minimalist elements: simple dress, simple bag, simple heels, with one trendy detail (the choker neckline). It’s an excellent example of how very simple can be very right! I love that Lana added a little extra flair with her half updo. She could have just left her hair long and loose and it would have worked, but this hairstyle adds a more polished finish which is both appealing and very pretty! She gave us a take on all-denim, next, pairing a tied denim shirt with destroyed, high-waisted skinny jeans. The laidback, Americana vibe of this look is fab and, again, I love the breezy gorgeousness of her half up-do. I don’t say this often, but…I actually would have preferred less formal footwear here. The metallic gold sandals are long way in formality from the destroyed denim and it feels like a bit of a reach to combine them. Her black mid-calf boots from the camo look would have rocked my world. Alternatively, using non-destroyed denim and keeping the gold sandals would have done the trick by elevating the outfit slightly and bringing it a little closer in formality-level to her shoes. Brie and Nikki attended the Teen Choice Awards in mid-August sporting similar, but not the same, maxi slip dresses. I always love when they do this kind of look that coordinates, but also lets each of them reveal their individuality. Nikki’s nude dress is from Alice and Olivia. She added a wide dark choker and completed the look with pale nude heels. Despite the leg-lengthening effect of the nude, I think I might have preferred black strappy heels here to tie in with her necklace. Brie’s dress and black platform ankle strap heels are from Planet Blue. I love the steel gray shade of this piece! It has the sophistication of black without being black and it feels more unique. I also love the way she combined a black choker with a gold pendant for a layered jewelry look. It adds interest to the minimalist dress and a welcome hint of shine. The twins’ next event was at the Curve Expo, promoting BirdeeBee. Nikki paired a black tee with white split-leg pants. This is the 100% right away to do the split leg! By stopping at mid-calf, the split is intriguing without being ridiculous and it’s appropriate for a promotional event such as this. She finished the look with the Planet Blue sandals worn by Brie to the Kids’ Choice Awards. I often find the center-parted hairstyle harsh, but I really love the way it looks here on Nikki – sleek and fierce! Brie chose a black, wide-leg jumpsuit for the event. It’s not ground-breaking, but it is polished and professional. She wisely added a dose of drama with her studded sandals and the whole look is quietly chic.
I don’t usually go wild over sunglasses, but these metallic-tipped cat-eye shades from Fendi that Nikki is wearing are just too cool not to call out! Add a red lip, red nails and red wine…what else does a fashionable girl need? :) Summer was channeling her inner Carmella in this Insta-snap with buddy Stella Kae. She paired a leopard print dress from Show Me Your Mumu with black combat boots. This whole look has an untamed, derriere-kicking attitude to it which is super fun! I’m a huge fan of her leather newsboy cap as well – it just ladles on extra attitude! She’s also selling me on that lip purse – something I would never dream of actually owning , but I love the kick of red it adds to this look. So, when are these two ladies starting a fashion blog? Maria’s experimentations with fashion continued throughout the month. Her barely-captured Smackdown outfit layered a graffiti-covered bomber jacket over what looks to be an assemblage-type mini dress with appliqué an sequins. Black ankle booties completed the risky look. I’ve learned to never be surprised at where Maria takes her fashion – she’s never afraid to “go there” and while this look is busy and messy, it makes an interesting direction for the love-filled, urban-warrior character she’s developing, so I give her points for the experimentation. I could have skipped the daring burgundy lip with all that was going on below it, but it toughen up the styling even more. From there, she paired a ruffled mini skirt from Express with a sunglasses-wearing-skull-print tank from Zara and clear sandals from Aldo (all id’s by fashionofhedivas.tumblr.com). This look is just as risky as the first, but it very nearly works. There’s a long jump from skulls to ruffles and I wish she had tied the outfit together by going with combat boots instead of the clear sandals, which are super-modern. It’s fine, though – Maria keeps me intrigued and thinking about fashion, so I’m always up for seeing what she does next!
Maryse’s look was more edited, but I love the moto styling of this gray zip-front dress! It’s like a biker-jacket done as a little gray dress! It’s streamlined and packs an attitude, despite its classic silhouette. She finished it with simple pumps, but combat boots, or studded, heeled ankle booties would look fab with this also! Her SummerSlam-week vist to New York city found her pairing a lace bodysuit with latex pants in a look that melded various approaches to seduction -from sweetness to S & M. She topped the outfit with a sleeveless trench. I love these pieces individually, but I find this look to be a bit scattered in effect, although the unifying effect of the black helps it tremendously. I have a similar feeling about her next offering, which pairs the floral Delaina top from Alice and Olivia with the glittering lace confection of the Almira skirt from the same brand. I love the gorgeous floral of the top and the skirt is crave-worthy! Even so, and despite the gold of the skirt being echoed in matte tones in the floral, the look feels a touch disjointed. Maryse added a wide black waist, which perfectly enhances her curves – and finished the look with simple black Nudist sandals from Stuart Weitzman. I’d have loved to see tie the outfit together with burgundy or blush heels instead. Charlotte gave us a full back view of her black sequin cape during her time in Shenzhen, China. I love when she gives us still like this – it really lets me appreciate all the detail in her gear designs and there is a lot of it! Like the rest of the fashion world, I’m obsessed with flowers at the moment, so the embroidered ones on the back of this cape have me drooling! They’re so gorgeous and the color-scheme is crave-worthy, especially set against the black shimmer, which highlight the mix of green, blue and lime flawlessly. Where can I get a duster like this, pretty please? (Ahem…looking at you, WWE Shop!).
Emma’s time off yielded a fair number of fun looks. Here, we seeing her staying true to her love of colorful prints in this royal blue maxi dress. The fact that the print is confined to certain areas of the piece, instead of being all-over, helps it to feel more polished and not overwhelming. She happens to be barefoot in this shot, but I especially like that this breezy dress would lend itself perfectly to flat sandals during the summer months, as well as to ankle booties in the fall. A number of divas have become devotes of Agaci Store in recent months. Gail is the latest to jump on board, as she wears this golden yellow set, pairing wide-leg pants with a matching lace blouse. The combination of flowing pants like these with a slim top is always incredibly chic. On top of that, I adore Gail in intense colors and I adore yellow, so this look is pretty much a lovefest for me from stem to stern :). I also need to call out her hairstyle here – the side part, the amayyzzzzing volume: it’s absolutely stunning! Simple gold hoops add a hint of flash to this look. We don’t see her shoes, but nude or metallic pumps would be high on my list. The sweet sunshine is gone and full-on FIERCE is in for Gail’s latest in-ring look. This reminds me of the leather bodysuit gear she used a few years ago that slayed our world, except this time, it’s done in a knit and the plunge front is filled with racy fishnet mesh. Daaayyyuuuuum. Girlfriend knows how to kill it! Her coordinating net OTK’s -from Agaci store – ensure that the killage is complete from head to toe. Smoky eyes and a pale lip give her outfit center stage. The volume in her hair is just as gorgeous the second time around. I’ll brb – I have to run get a winch to haul my jaw off the ground. Brandi spent the end of summer showcasing a number of great looks on her blog, Being Brandi Rhodes. Among them was this spot on-trend off-the-shoulder LBD with split sleeves. I love how the split creates a modern take on the bell sleeve in this piece! I’m also a huge fan of the way Brandi added a spark to the look with a multi-colored statement necklace – it makes such a fab twist on black monochrome and enlivens the look. A black tote and peep-toe wedge mules round out the outfit. Next, we get to see her casual side as she pairs a knot-detailed knit tunic in a dusty terra-cotta shade with distressed gray denim. The detail on this tunic is super fun and gives the whole outfit a big punch. Brandi adds even more playfulness with her fur-pom-pom-topped sneakers! I love the additional texture, as well as the lighthearted vibe. She finishes the look with a pair of bangles and a printed bag from Louis Vuitton. I find this choice of bag so interesting because I wouldn’t generally think of pairing brown with gray and muted coral tones. If you look closely though, the bag has mixed tones in the leather: gold-beige and burgundy, in addition to the brand’s classic coffee brown. The redder tone ties the bag into the look nicely and I’m really intrigued by the way the color play works in a subtle and sophisticated way. Brandi’s next outfit is a red maxi dress, sprinkled with white stars. It’s a classic summer silhouette, with the spaghetti straps and v-neckline, done in an of-the-moment print. It feels quite fresh and carefree and I’m digging the Americana vibes. I also ADORE this bag she’s carrying. In my head, I call it her “birdcage bag” because it reminds me of a vintage birdcage, but it’s actually one of Cult Gaia’s Ark bags. Brandi’s been a huge fan of it all summer and I’m 100% on board. It’s functional, distinctive and versatile and the light, airy design is perfect for summertime!
Brie took NYC by storm in this gorgeous Self-Portrait dress – don’t you just love the frothy lace and flowing sleeves? All that sweetness is tempered by the black chevron stripes; the structured black solidity grounds the look flawlessly. Brie played that up by completing the outfit with black strappy platform sandals (these appear to be a variant of the Parrow x Jimmy Choo, but I can’t confirm that at this time). She chose another Self-Portrait dress for her next day in New York, this time one with a cold-shoulder detail and ruffles on the sleeves. The simpler material lends a more architectural vibe to this piece, as compared to the lace, but I love it’s dramatic, high-fashion aesthetic, which is enhanced by the ivory and black color scheme. Brie again finishes the look with strappy sandals – the Lang by Jimmy Choo. This time, she chose blush instead of black. I like the warmth of the dusty pink, but I also kind of miss the punchy exclamation point of the black. |
