Spring brought us a look at Katarina’s style for her return to Impact. This simple, sexy biker-chick look takes me back the accessible, straightforward attitude of her days as Katie Lea Burchill in WWE. The leather vest paired with black skinny denim and knee-high boots appears to be very much in Katarina’s comfort zone. I love how she threw in a sporty touch with her baseball cap; it’s a great way to update this look! We saw her push the envelope in a lot of fun ways as Winter, exploring gothic fashion. I’d love to see her use that same creativity as she evolves her street style.
Gail was looking as gorgeous as ever as she spent time with husband Robert Irvine. The magnificent plum hue makes this dress an immediate standout, and the cutaway at the bust only heightens the effect. I absolutely love this shade on Gail! Although she chose it for spring, it would be equally at home now, paired with other jewel tones – teal or gold spring to mind! Lana was out and about in April wearing a fierce combination of a black crop top and red latex pencil skirt. I love the way the red and latex take this simple pairing and kick it into overdrive! The latex makes a major statement and Lana carries it off flawlessly. If shining plastic seems a little of your wheelhouse (with you!), try a less bold textural contrast: suede, velvet, corduroy, or a floral print. Pro tip: the ctop isn’t crucial to making this work – any slim fitting top will do nicely. Lana added a gold pendant and completed the look with black ankle strap sandals that have my 100% approval. She literally shone at the ACM Awards in a metallic gold gown by Anya Leisnick! It definitely did not follow the legs or décolleté rule, as it combined an on-trend thigh-high slit with a daring plunge neckline. This could easily get over-the-top, but Lana wisely kept the rest of the styling simple – I love love her stud earrings and tiny pendant! – and that, along with the single, cohesive fabric, allows this look to work. Her dark eyed+flushed cheek make-up look is one of my faves; that classic natural-kicked-up-a-notch vibe always looks amazing! Lana reprised the silhouette in a white midi dress, paired with strappy gold sandals and her shorter hair. The slightly less extreme neckline is more appropriate for day wear and brings a fresh sophistication to this rendition. I love how her black nails add punch to this much more pared-down look.

I’m going to do something a little different this year: instead of releasing the Hall Of Fame Review in one fell swoop, I’m going to keep adding a new group to the post each day. This will let me get the post up sooner ( I reeeeaaaly don’t want to be doing the HoF in June again!) and lets me devote time to each review and not feel like I’m rushing to get it all done so I can get the post up.
Every year, this is probably the most difficult review I do. There are always so many killer looks that I’m splitting hairs and weighing miniscule differences to determine who lands where on the count-up. The only choice that was easy this year was the top spot. I knew that placing immediately after going through all the looks the first time. Who earned that nod? Well, stick with me :). We kick things off with the ladies who I loved, save for one something or other. Wrestlemania 34 featured the first - and hopefully inaugural – Battle Royal for the Lady Superstars and there was a LOT of ring gear flying around the squared circle…and out of it! Consequently, we decided to dedicate an entire post to :) breaking it down, analyzing it and raving over it. Are you stoked yet? We are! First, a clarification: although Nia is part of our collage here, she was not part of the Battle Royal; she won the Raw Women’s Championship later in the evening, defeating Alexa Bliss. So why is she here? Basically, we had this awesome snap of her gear to show off, so show it off we did! :)
WM 34 has come and gone, and we've got so much to review! This years show featured 4 matches, 3 on the main card and 1 on the kick off show, that featured the female superstars. Two championships were defended, history was made, and one of the most anticipated debuts happened on the grandest stage of them all. The ring work was incredible, and the fashion wasn't left behind.
Woops – I’ve been so focused on keeping up and catching up that I nearly forgot about Pt. II of the Rumble gear! Fixing that now :).
Maria Menounos went for full-on athleisure in this sporty jumpsuit. Zipped up and paired with sneakers, it could easily have felt underwhelming, but she intelligently spiced it up with a gold bodysuit below and unexpected metallic peeptoe booties. The shoes, in particular, shifted the vibe of this look toward Fiercness and I approve! Statement earrings cemented that direction. I’m on board for the Gothic leanings of Nia’s gear: the shield-like red lace looks powerful and imposing set against the black leather, but still retains beauty, preventing the gear from looking too stark and brawn-heavy. She previously did iterations of this look where the upper edge of the colored front-piece was extended farther to each side, creating a visual empire waist. That look is excellent for Nia and I wish she would explore it further. While the sections of black lace break up the leather nicely, they also reduce the cohesiveness of the piece. A simple sheer fabric could have a similar, but simpler, effect. The concepts she has for her look are fantastic and super-fun; just a few small tweaks to the execution could really put them in a class by themselves. The Bella’s triumphant reunion was more about the feels than the gear, but it delivered so well on the feels that I can overlook the absence of anything novel on the attire front. Both ladies slayed in red. Nikki reprised her most recent era of sporty gear, with a short-sleeve cropped tee accented with lace-up detailing and paired with color block shorts. Red knee socks and black+red sneakers rounded out the look. Brie went for red latex in a one-piece silhouette, embellished with slashes and a plaid waistband that recalled her grunge-tinged Brie-mode looks. The sisters rarely fail to deliver and these looks are both solid, competent and visually impactful – the work of women who know exactly what they’re about. Carmella’s gear looks like gray marble print from a distance, but on closer inspection it is revealed to be a graffiti print. I’m totally in for either print; they both look fab! And I’m really impressed by the way that the look works so incredibly well from both vantage points. Many times, something can look amazing close-up but lose impact from further back, or vice versa, but this look covers it all! The orange piping was an awesome choice and works brilliantly, bringing the shot of color that makes this gear pop. Surprisingly, I can even get behind the faux high waistband created by her fishnet hosiery showing above her shorts. You gotta be fab to sell me on that kind of a look! :) The Divas were on full slayage mode, as usual, for the promo photoshoot for the newest season of Total Divas! This year’s theme was a modern mix of black and white, with touches of silver. Alexa kicked things off in a sporty coord set that paired a zip-front vest with slashed high waist leggings (from Ultracor, id by fashionofthedivas.tumblr.com). The look got kicked into high gear with the addition of peeptoe ankle booties (though I confess I wouldn’t have minded seeing a really hot pair of sneakers here, either [ok, who are you, Writer Person and what have you done with Brie?]).Touches of gold via a wide bangle and hoop earrings serve to further elevate the styling. In addition to the streamlined, sexy athleticism it projects, this look is especially fun because it’s outside the chill, punk-leaning aesthetic we tend to see Blissy reach for. I love seeing experimentation and she totally rocks this look! Don’t you just adore her confident smirk? :)
First, I apologize for the extreme tardiness of this review...and I take back every griping thing I ever said about Joey Styles. Then again, he gets paid to get the pics up and I don't earn zip from this labor of love I fit in around life, animals and a real job. So, actually, I don't take back anything I said about him after all :). Second, I'm laughing at myself as I'm posting this review. You would never believe how many times I've re-done the collages because my placements keep changing as I analyze and weight the looks. This is HARD, babes! Every year, so many ladies come out here and slay and somehow I have to distill it all into some kind of order. It's cray! And it's also fun. And I'm usually hella proud of the list when I finally get done, probably because I fight so hard to make it accurate and justify each placing. As always, I feel the need to mention that I madly adore each of these divas and root for all of them to rock the ravishing red lane of fame. I love it every time they do! That being said...
