How much like a fairytale does Maryse look in this ethereal gown? Donned for her baby shower, it features a white backdrop with a delicate floral lace overlay in soft blush. I’m not used to this much sweetness in Maryse’s style, but it looks stunning and feels like an authentic facet of her style personality. I’d love to see her go to this place once in awhile now that her baby girl has been born – it would be such a fun change-up from the sleek, sexy sophisticate we usually see. She didn’t forsake that style, though, as we in her next look, which paired a heathered gray tee with a thoroughly fabulous studded denim jacket. Add a coordinating pair of distressed jeans and some combat boots to this and you’re good to go!
We got a quick update on Eve’s style when she attended Maryse’s baby shower. She wore a laidback black monochrome pairing of a black v-neck tee and jeans, topped with the welcome textural variation of a black motorcycle jacket. The wide silhouette of the v on her tee also gives the look a boost by virtue of its uniqueness. This look reminds me of the easy she described her comfort with during her Diva Couture feature (#tbt here to this sadly short-lived foray into the Lady Superstars’ fashion preferences, a really fun idea that I wish the Big Dub had given a better run). I find it very intriguing how Eve’s neutral, uncomplicated personal style differed from the bright hues and greater drama she tended to employ for her in-ring and tv wardrobe.

I’m going to do something a little different this year: instead of releasing the Hall Of Fame Review in one fell swoop, I’m going to keep adding a new group to the post each day. This will let me get the post up sooner ( I reeeeaaaly don’t want to be doing the HoF in June again!) and lets me devote time to each review and not feel like I’m rushing to get it all done so I can get the post up.
Every year, this is probably the most difficult review I do. There are always so many killer looks that I’m splitting hairs and weighing miniscule differences to determine who lands where on the count-up. The only choice that was easy this year was the top spot. I knew that placing immediately after going through all the looks the first time. Who earned that nod? Well, stick with me :). We kick things off with the ladies who I loved, save for one something or other. Mid-February found Nikki in this stunning Ronnie Kobo dress, which is perfectly simple, except for its daring cutout back! I love the way the drama of this piece is concentrated around that single detail! Nikki enhanced the effect by wearing a station pendant necklace set to the back; it’s an incredible and perfect choice that looks fabulous and works flawlessly. It also reminds me of the way Coco Chanel wore her pearls dripping down her back in one of her most famous portraits, which does nothing to dissuade me from adoring Nikki’s styling. She added red statement earrings that bring out the colors in the necklace, as well as a black Louis Vuitton bag. We don’t get to see her shoes, but I’m guessing pointy pumps in black or red :). She’s repping Birdiebee in her next look, with the most vintage of snaps. Posed in front of a red theater curtain, she wears a white brassiere and high-waisted brief from the line, topped with a two-tone faux fur jacket. I love the backstage-chanteuse connotation and nostalgic vibe of this shot – it’s gorgeous!
If that snap from Nikki isn’t enough glamour to slay your life, how about this one from Noelle? She’s enjoying a slice of pizza while looking thoroughly fabulous in a ballgown featuring an embellished bustier-type top and a black-and-white striped skirt. She’s topped the look with a cropped faux fur jacket in black and added a statement bracelet to complete the ensemble. Her messy bun is straight up gorge – she needs to wear her hair like this more often! I’m also totally here for her dark cranberry lip, which adds a very modern moodiness to this chic ensemble. I love this shot and I will be adding “eat pizza in a ballgown” to my Must Do In This Lifetime list because of it :). Natalya looked amazingly chic as she participated in King 5 News’ New Day Northwest Hot Topics show. She paired a stunning LBD with leather OTK boots for a simple, but impactful ensemble. It’s the detaisl that give this look presence: the notch collar, the cap sleeves, the lace edging – these all combine to make this classic LBD interesting and unique. I love her choice to go with the textural contrast of leather for her boots instead of the more expected suede. The smooth leather plays beautifully against the knit fabric of the dress. The whole look is trademark Natalya and I adore it! She noted on her Instagram that she got to meet shoe designer Steve Madden that same day. How awesome is that? I hope she got a sneak peak at his new spring offerings! :) Next, she paired the Delaina top from Alice and Oivia (which we previously saw Maryse wear) with a black maxi skirt. Although it’s a more expected look, I’m enjoying the subtlety of Natalya’s pairing; it lets the beautiful floral print have the bulk of the attention. Her leather OTKs again completed the look.
I can’t resist reviewing a couple of Nikki’s promo looks for her DWTS appearance. I mean, it’s not every day we get to look at a Gothic Romance style gown from a fashion perspective! It would take a very fancy occasion or a who-cares-its-awesome-I’m-wearing-it attitude to do a piece like this for real life, but just look at it! The crystal-emblazoned bodice, the glamorously gathered and ruched skirt, the rich cabernet color – this is one gorgeous piece of fashion! Who could resist the opportunity to feel like the heroine of a vintage novel, should the opportunity arise –even if it’s just for day? Hmm….Halloween, anyone? ;) Nikki naturally brought the full quotient of glamour to it by adding matching satin gloves and a statement crystal choker. My only wish is that she had gone with a more formal hairstyle – perhaps a messy up-do – to suit the fancy vibes of the fashion. Also, I need to point out the coolness of the sword as an accessory. How often to consider whether your weaponry matches your outfit? So much glam, so much opulence, so much fun! In a very different, but equally enjoyable genre is her Parisian look, a teaser for the Argentine Tango. I’m in heaven with the classic vibes of this look. The red and navy combo is an unbeatably chic pairing, especially with the hallmark French vibe of her striped top. Nikki played up the Parisian feel by knotting her red silk scarf at her neck and adding a beret. Red ankle strap flats (omg! Nikki in flats?! Has gravity stopped working?) complete the look. Despite being a promo concept, this outfit would translate easily and wonderfully to a street look. I love a lot about this look from Mickie! I love that it feels like her, channeling her glam side. I love that it reminds me of something LayCool would wear. I love the irony of Mickie rocking a LayCool look – she’s a long way from Piggy James, babes! The crystal belt gives this ensemble the Western vibe we often see Mickie dabble in, but the pinstriped vest throws in a slightly masculine and very polished curveball that give the pairing a kind of throwback cool. Her pin-straight hair was a perfect choice, bringing sleekness and modernity to the look. She completed it with OTKs in suede – hard to go wrong with that extra shot of fierce!
I’m also digging this look from Natalya. It’s the kind of classicism we’d expect from her in terms of this gorgeous LBD, but that sweetheart neckline? Bring me a fan -that’s hot! Her beauty look is perfection as well. Her shimmery eyes and mauve lip feel uncontrived and look stunning! Nattie’s big glam tv looks are amazing, but I also enjoy seeing her do softer stylings, like this one that seem like something she would wear when she’s not working, just being her gorgeous self. LBD’s were having a moment for her, as she wore another in a midi length during her tour of China. The minimalist aesthetic rules, as she accents it with black pointy pumps, a Louis Vuitton bag, oversize sunnies and nothing else. It’s edited, subtle and oh so chic! Although, I almost missed it because I was totally focusing on what has to e the cutest dragon I have ever seen. That yellow fuzzball is totes adorable and I want one! Yes, I realize it’s someone in a costume. I’m not interested in the someone, but the costume? I want to stick that in a corner of my room and hug it for about a hundred years. I’ve been working super hard on a massive new Melange post. Coming this week for ya, loves! XO
Maria was cool and casual in her black and red graphic tee and leggings. I love how she put a rocker-cool spin on this look with her leather vest and, most of all, those super hot ankle boots! A little hardware always gets my attention ;). For her summer tv appearance, she ditched casual for glam, showing off this silver sequined dress with a tulip front. The cutesy vibe of her lipstick-kiss pumps wouldn’t have been my first choice as a pairing from a fashion standpoint, but they’re a perfect way to convey her character, so I’m giving them the ok here. They definitely add a whimsical touch to this fancy piece, which makes the look stand out from the ordinary. She doubled down on that theme with her next look, a pairing of black kabooty shorts with a sequined Betty Boop tee and lipstick-kiss leather jacket in blush. The whole ensemble is so over-the-top and almost cartoonish that only Maria could pull this off successfully. Her massive, fearless personality carries this look: it doesn’t wear her, she wears it. And she channels it into a faux serious sexy lovefest. I’m completely in awe of how she makes something so wrong seem exactly right. And she earns bonus points for the on-trend fishnets. We saw Maryse wear this BCBG cape dress alone with nude pointy pumps and layered over a sheer piece with Rockstud pumps, but here she lighten the look up by completing it with Nudist ankle strap sandals. They have a barely-there quality (hence the name ;)) which really highlights the sleek softness of this dress. I’m also 100% in for her self-wrapped pony, which looks amazing on her and is rapidly becoming one of my favorite hairstyles. I also want to express my delight for Maryse and Miz and their forthcoming bundle of joy. Congrats to them! Lana exuded causal urban cool in this simple combo of a cropped gray knit cami and blue denim. The soft-knit-meets-smooth-woven is a classic and appealing. While I would probably think of silver first as a jewelry combination with this light graphite shade, Lana warms things up by using gold instead. She uses simple, delicate pieces that add a hint of shine and pull the look together in a subtle way. This look could be completed as easily with gray sandal-booties as with metallic gold pointy pumps.
Maryse broke out her fabulous Louboutin Gypsandals again, this time to pair with a black midi dress. The LBD has a bevy of straps at the back which create an intriguing detail that has the added benefit of not competing with the focal point of her look: those incredible shoes! Her mid-height pony keeps the look polished. Her look for the Extreme Rules photoshoot showcased the opposite side of her style: a mod, rocker compliation of futuristic latex and knit leggings paired with an ultra-cool sheer+leather-striped moto jacket. The black monochrome look has plenty of variety for the eye, while still being cohesive and offers a indubitably tough vibe. Maryse layered a graphic tee underneath and then piled on plenty of glam via a chain waterfall necklace and a crystal statement belt. We’ve seen a number of variations of this black, crystal and sheer mélange from many of the divas, but it’s a tribute to Maryse’s fashion sense that I’m still on board for the street-glam vibe of this look. From there, she moves to this gray midi dress from J Lux Label. I’m enjoying the departure this piece represents for Maryse – the belt and double-breasted detailing give it a suiting vibe that we don’t often see her explore. It still has plenty of sultriness though, due to the deep-v neckline and thigh-high slit. She gets an extra shot of fierce into the look with her ankle cuff heels (better pic of those beauties below). |
