First, I apologize for the extreme tardiness of this review...and I take back every griping thing I ever said about Joey Styles. Then again, he gets paid to get the pics up and I don't earn zip from this labor of love I fit in around life, animals and a real job. So, actually, I don't take back anything I said about him after all :). Second, I'm laughing at myself as I'm posting this review. You would never believe how many times I've re-done the collages because my placements keep changing as I analyze and weight the looks. This is HARD, babes! Every year, so many ladies come out here and slay and somehow I have to distill it all into some kind of order. It's cray! And it's also fun. And I'm usually hella proud of the list when I finally get done, probably because I fight so hard to make it accurate and justify each placing. As always, I feel the need to mention that I madly adore each of these divas and root for all of them to rock the ravishing red lane of fame. I love it every time they do! That being said...

Emma explored some casual looks before returning to fierceness during her Emmalina era. She and Renee did a twinsies look, pairing distressed blue denim with an Elton John baseball tee. Both ladies completed the look with boots. While I love the classic color combo and the laidback vibe, both of these feel just a bit bland to me. I'd have loved to see a spicy detail - fiercer boots, a half-tucked shirt and a statement belt...just a touch of something. Emma does essentially that in her next outfit, pairing a "love" tee with distressed denim and lace-up booties. I love the extra punch the shoe choice adds! Peyton Royce (at right) stayed simple and minimal with a cropped white tank and skinny denim. Boots finish off her unexciting look. Billie Kay (at left) got more creative with a tied white shirt topping worn denim. She went for strappy sandals as an exclamation point, along with a slim metal collar. Her look is casual, but polished and interesting, primarily due to her unique choice of top and just-right combo of uncomplicated but trendy pieces.
Emma was back to the bikinis in this leaf-print halter two-piece from Show Me Your Mumu. The scale of this print is excellent for her - not too massive and overwhelming, but still bold. The peach-cobalt-mint-emerald color combo is super pretty and fun. The verdant setting really makes it pop, too! Among my favorite shots from the Emmalina era is this next one: a wedgewood blue v-neck bodysuit, paired with the same lace-up booties Emma rocked during her night out with Billie and Peyton. She gets huge props for her dark, smoldering make-up that makes this gorgeous, bright summer scene come alive with fierce, sensual energy. Denim shorts could be added to this look for casual styling, while a sheer maxi skirt would work as a fashion-forward alternative, depending on the event. If said event was such that a sheer-over-bodysuit approach would be frowned upon, a pleated mini skirt would be super cute and bring movement and volume to this sleek bodycon piece. Gah...so much fashion, fashion everywhere! It's prom season ...ok, late prom season...but I really wanted to get some inspiration up for any and all of you who are stuck...or those of you like me who just love seeing fancy looks and dreaming about when you can wear things like this :). So if this inspires you for today, tomorrow, next weekend or light years into the future, it's all good with me :) . Enjoy!
A number of Divas came out to Wrestlecon this year, with the result that we got to see some fantastic fashion! Barbie was fierce and trendy in her black monochrome look, which paired a lace bodysuit from Gooseberry Intimates with black skinny jeans (x J Brand) and simple but sexy ankle strap sandals. A slim gold choker added just a hint of shine to her look. My favorite part, though? Her hot pink fold-over clutch from YSL! I love the way that shock of color enlivens this all-black outfit. Noelle also wore black, choosing a plain, short-sleeved bodycon LBD. Her sneakers gave the piece a fun grunge/90's twist, while also being comfortable for a day-long affair like Wrestlecon. The informal feel of this dress, due to the rib knit and minimalist silhouette, lends itself perfectly to this kind of laidback combination. Like Barbie, Michelle went the bodysuit route. Her pick was an olive-beige version with super high-cut thighs, which showed above her lower waisted jeans, creating the effect of a cut-out. It also incorporated a lace-up detail at the sides. This look isn't my favorite of Michelle's- it's a tad blander than her usual laidback street-glam style; I'm missing a studded belt or a pile of crystal bangles. We don't get to see her shoes choice (sad face), but based on what I know of Michelle, I'd place good money on OTKs or fierce ankle booties. If you feel like you got left short of your glam fix, Maria's look should fix that for you. Her all-over sequined ivory gown was nothin' but glam! The deep-v silhouette brought plenty of sexiness too. Her long, loose curls look amazing! She chose to keep the outfit monochrome by finishing it with ivory platform heels. I feel like you have to be careful with platforms right now because they're a little of fashion's radar and they can feel somewhat passé, depending on how you pair them. This bold, but simple dress takes a lot of its vibe from the shoes, so I'd rather have seen Maria go with a pointy single-soled pump here, whether in ivory or nude. On a complete 180 spin from Maria's fancy styling is Nikki's dramatic, sporty look from the day after Wrestlecon. She paired black track pants with side stripes in her trademark white and red with a sheer tank that showed her brassiere. While I wouldn't suggest recreating this combo in non-Diva life, Nikki rocks the h**l out of it. Her red backwards baseball cap adds a bit more color and attitude and her wide choker punctuates the styling with tough, fearless trendiness.
We are going blonde on diva-fierce! No hair dye required ;) - just a roundup of fabulous style from blonde after blonde. We did manage to sneak in a brunette and a redhead too :)
Noelle ...edit: woops I already covered this look a couple posts back. Guess this is what happens when I'm exhausted and don't clean up files.:p I said almost the same thing last time too...at least I'm consistent :) #GraspingAtStraws Speaking of Charlotte, she debuted a new color variant of her gear: steel gray with orange piping. While I think the blue-tinged shades suit her particularly well, I really enjoy this unusual combination of shades. Orange is fairly rare in the land of diva color choices and pairing it with cool steel gray - which really sets off the vibrancy of the orange trim - is still more unique. I nearly always dole out props for the unexpected, and Char definitely earns herself some here! Lana showed off her casual side as she wore this olive green t-shirt dress to a pre-Clash Of Champions signing event for the new WWE Encyclopedia. She gave this look a slightly boho vibe by doing her hair in a pair of side braids. An oh-so-trendy choker completed the look nicely. I can easily imagine black or caramel ankle booties being the footwear of choice for this look. Alexa caught my eye with this super cute outfit - a graphic tee (reading "Dear Karma, I have a list of people you missed") paired with a scallop-hemmed A-line skirt. She topped the whole thing with a cropped leather jacket. I'm ttly on board for her addition of a wide waist belt for a hint of metallic flash; it brings in just the pop that the outfit needed. Black tights and mid-calf leather boots rounded off the ensemble. She reinforced the sugar-coated punk vibe with a high ponytail - a look I love! So, burgundy OTKs are definitely a thing! We saw them on Mandy, we've seen them on several prominent fashion bloggers and now, we're seeing them on Maryse, which seals the deal. When Maryse signs on, it's officially a trend. She let hers be the statement portion of a classic LBD. A cropped black military jacket added a touch of warmth...and fierceness! The simplicity - with a dash of attitude- of this look is very appealing. I would absolutely wear this outfit! Naturally, she also needed a pair of shades - the better to dodge the paparazzi, my dear! ;) The end of September found the ladies of wrestling and beyond wearing a number of gorgeous dresses, with a few casual looks thrown in for good measure. In the former category is this wrap slip dress of Barbie's. The wrap style - made famous in the 70's by Diane von Furstenberg - highlights all her curves, an effect which is enhanced by the charmeuse fabric. Barbie added a metallic glimmer to the eggshell shade of the dress with her Rockstud sandals and a bold gold choker. If you asked me to split hairs, I think I might say I'd have preferred a slimmer style with a subtler profile, which would have kept the look a bit more cohesive.
Brie gave us her take on the dark-florals trend as she attended the Emmy in this beautifully patterned piece. In addition to the beautiful print, the dress boasts a stunning high-low hemline, which looks graceful and feminine. Brie paired it with ivory sandals, a color and silhouette which added lightness to the darkly romantic piece. I'm also loving the soft curls in her shorter hair - they make this style look so gorgeous on her! Cathy commented lightheartedly about wearing white in this picture, suggesting that it was allowd after Labor Day since the dress has long sleeves. I'm not sure that quite qualifies as justification for obeying the old guideline, which may have originated for practicality purposes, or as a distinction between vacation seasons and the rest of the year. It is noteworthy that the prohibition applied solely to pure white, like Cathy's dress. It did not include ivory and vanilla shades; hence the rise of the term "winter white". Also, the classic white shirt has been a year-round fashion staple for decades, so you have plenty of options for skirting the whole issue and still following the etiquette, if you so choose. Or do it Cathy's way and say "to heck with tradition" ;). Whew. Having gotten all that out of the way, I love this dress! The mix of lace and sheer is lovely - a modern twist on a vintage vibe. She keeps the whole look light by pairing it with nude sandals, but you could just as easily finish it with black pumps for a stronger -and equally chic! - contrast. That would probably be the route I would choose, especially for this time of year, as the black and white is four-season classic and feels more sophisticated than summery. The again, I would probably try this dress in ivory instead of white (in case you're sitting there pondering "but what would Brie do?" ;) Doing a complete 180 from Cathy's ladylike look, we find this black monochrome outfit from Becky. It's premise is simple: peplum top, leggings, flat knee boots, but it comes together solidly. It's stylish and looks fantastic on her. Score one for Becky and laidback-cool! September saw a whole range of great fashion looks sail across our consciousness - everything from fancy sequins to chill fringe.
Fringe was the main attraction in this outfit of Noelle's an it completely rocks! Imagine all the movement it creates at this super-long length! Way fun, right? I'm not generally a fan of tie-dye, but the bold, straightforward striped pattern of this piece is really eye-catching and pretty, especially in this combination of cobalt and white. Cut-off denim shorts provided the bottom half of her cool-as-a-cucumber look, while black retro sneakers finished it off. Even though the pairing is quite basic, her stand-out top give this look serious punch and it looks fab! Noelle channels Charlotte in her next outfit, a mockneck crop top paired with a pencil skirt and topped with a biker jacket. It's a simple and trendy match-up that works just as well for her as it does for the Raw champ. Char would finish this with pumps or sandals, but I'm betting Noelle put her own spin on the footwear...sneakers, perhaps? ;) Michelle's daughter decided to play fashion photographer and the blonde beauty complied, striking a pose for us all to admire. This look definitely showcases Michelle's pre -or -post-Laycool style: the All-American girl showed her love for camo, but the glamorous Michi McFlawless? Not so much. Michelle shorted the midi-lengthe piece DIY-style via a knot at the hemline and ramped up the military style with lace-up boots. A knotted white sweatshirt at her waist gave the look a grunge twist, while a long gold pendant provided the only hint of shine. She also played with a concept that becoming a major thing lately: elevating this causal dress with her hairstyle, an intricate braid. She's been favoring this kind of style lately and it works wonderfully with this look. Eva worked the same idea with this look, but paired her self-wrapped top knot with a distressed denim instead of a dress. The fancier hair works just as well with pants! I love her decision to do this slinky bodysuit in olive - the color looks amazing on her! And her choker - in addition to being bang on-trend - works symbiotically with her hair style to make this look come off more polished than your standard slim-top-and-skinny-jeans pairing. Her high top sneaker finish things off with a casual vibe. Barbie gave us another sterling example of her flair for laidback fierceness as she paired this high-necked sleeveless halter top with gray denim shorts. The coup de grace of this ensemble, though, is her OTK boots. They really put the exclamation point on the combo. She adds an extra shot of attitude with her chain-handled bag. From fierceness, we head straight into boho: Renee paired this Free People dress with OTK boots, showing why the super-high style has become as fashionista-staple: they literally go with EVERYTHING. And they swing from genre to genre without missing a bit. I love the edge they add to this delicate dress. I also love Renee's addition of a pork-pie hat; it gives a playful twist to the look that reinforces the free-spirited vibe. |
