We have a couple of addenda to Impact’s Halloween ‘shoots ( I know, I know...I’m a full holiday behind *hangs head in shame*). First up is McKenzie as a lovely and quite glamorous mermaid – a theme that seems to be a perfect choice for her. Her outfit is classic and flawless, from the seashell bra to the aptly named mermaid skirt of her costume. I really love the color combinations in this set – they create an ombré effect starting with metallic azure, shifting into bright lime and then into shimmering mint. It aptly reflects the sea theme but also looks quite stunning. Many mermaids are content to allow the seashells to be their only baubles, by McKenzie gives us a flashier, more luxe interpretation of the look, adding a sparkling crystal choker and glittering statement cuff, which definitely up the wow factor. Her eyeshadow echoes the colors of her outfit, as well as it’s sheen, enhancing her natural beauty. She nails two standard poses, setting up my only regret regarding this ‘shoot: that we didn’t get a couple more snaps in it.
Taya’s Viking-themed “set” unfortunately suffers from the same paucity of shots, but what’s there is solid. She dons an ivory bodysuit with a metallic front panel, which gives a nice illusion of armor and adds a heavy dose of fur: gloves, epaulets, even a sort of bustle, which I’m sure there is much tougher, more technical, and far more Viking-esque name for :). Fur also trims her horned metallic cap. Fishnets stockings add a subtle dose of sex appeal to the look, while the red streaks in her hair bring in a welcome shot of color. We sadly never get to see her footwear choice, but I’d put good money down on fur-lined boots – what else would a Nordic warrior face battle in? Her pose is an appealing one and presented with confidence. On my wishlist: I would have loved to see her carrying a giant shield or sword…I’d even settle for an ice pick. Perhaps those were in the snaps that didn’t get released. Ooo..and maybe she’s off to do battle with the one keeping them prisoner. If so, I hope she wins! ;)

The Impact (formerly TNA, now GFW) Knockouts are back in a BIG way! They have their first full photoshoot in aaaaaages and it includes most of the roster. Even better, the snaps are seriously awesome! The ladies each portray a force of nature, in keeping with their new promotion. Earth, wind, water and fire are all represented and quite fabulously at that!
Allie took on the force of water in a beach-setting collection of snaps. She paired a white faux-wrap cami with lace shorts, which are noteworthy for the gorgeous scalloped edges. While I'm a little surprised that she didn't reach for blue tones, I love the softness of these shots and the way she explores classic pin-up poses as she rolls about in the sand. The backdrop takes a bit of artistic license with its wispy waves; if you're looking for ultra-realism, this might throw you for awhile, as it did me. It's not my favorite facet of the 'shoot, but when I adjusted my perspective to looking at it as an artistic assemblage, rather than a photograph, it's dealable. It does add a hiccough to a very solid set of snaps that are not only the sultriest we’ve seen from Allie, but also some of the prettiest, as well as an indication of her appreciable fashion talent. As with her street fashion, Laurel's photoshoot pops off the page; it's immediately engaging, impactful and hot as heck! She donned a black, strappy monokini for her interpretation of water's force. The piece is 100% fierce in and of itself and Laurel unquestionably owns the look. Posing with poise and confidence, she rocks my word hard by playing with her hair and glancing over her shoulder , smashing the open-mouth facial in the process and making it instantly relevant again. Her wet hair looks as though it is catching the spray from the waterfall backdrop, which is fittingly symbolic of both danger and beauty. Everything – background, fashion , poses – comes together brilliantly in this set, making it one of the standout collections of the ‘shoot. Brava. It's been too long since we've gotten to enjoy Gail's prowess in a photoshoot and her skill and experience shines through here, as she embodies the force of wind - what else but a gale force for Gail? I'm thrilled with her interpretation - it's creative and darkly beautiful, expressing the theme in an intriguing and aesthetically stunning way. Outside of a strappy bikini bottom and strappy heels, the fashion consists primarily of fringe-like strands of black ribbon that extend the full length of her body and sway in the breeze, creating the sense of movement and drama that makes these snaps so captivating. Her long, flowing curls reinforce the idea. The peekaboo effect of the blowing fabric brings in a seductive tension that adds intensity to the snaps, while Gail's flawless poses heighten the effect. I especially love the one of her playing with her hair, eye half-closed, as if savoring her power! Hot on the heels of a pair of KOs group shots, we get a massive collection of snaps of nearly every Knockout, with one pic apiece..except Jade, who wrangled two ;).
Allie kicked things off with this sweet shot, in the same look we saw her in when she accompanied Maria about her business back in September. This time, she's accessorized the black peplum top+pencil skirt look with a pretty flowered statement necklace instead of pearls. I'm wild over this color - it makes me think of summer! And this necklace would spark a casual turtleneck and jean just as well as it does this pairing. I wonder if she echoed it with peach heels? ;) Next up is Sienna. This is the first we've gotten to see of her in photo and I'm not quite sure what to make of this leather and lace melange of a look. It kind of gives me goth-hot-mess vibes - especially with the addition of the feather boa-collar, but I'm happy to wait and see what else she has to offer. Maybe it will make her style intentions clearer. I love the white block streak in her hair -the look is distinctive and super cool! I'm also loving her brandy lip shade! And speaking of Brandi :) (nice segue, huh? :)), she gives us a peek at her ring gear, done in spectacular white, with a shimmering snake appliqué. For anyone who wondered why I chose the basilisk for her in our Fierce Beasts feature, this was my inspiration. I'm curious as to why she chose this unique symbol and what it means to her. Maybe she'll blog about it someday and tell us! This shot is simply fabulous - Brandi's pose, the classic juxtaposition of black and white. I love everything about it , right down to her gorgeous half up-do. I would happily take a whole 'shoot of these. And then we come to Rosemary, who is very unique! She reminds me of a throwback to characters like WWE's Ariel and Katarina Waters' Winter persona for Impact. Her look is vampire-grunge and seems to have a lot of theatricality involved. It makes it a challenge to apply as street fashion (but I'll see what I can do ;)), but it's still wicked fun to enjoy. The red and black combo does its job flawlessly and the boots+dress pairing is an interesting combo. The modern dress with the almost-Victorian boots feels a little offbeat, but if you re-imagine this concept through the lens of McQueen, it's easy to see how it could work. Then again, this could totally go early-Hole too, so we'll see where she takes it. Should be a wild ride! One amazing thing about fashion: it’s always there for you. It never lets you down. No matter what’s going on in your life, you can escape to fashion. It can be your solace when times are tough, your way to celebrate when they’re good and your personal form of expression and comfort every day in between. And, we’ve got a special treat today! After a big drought of Knockouts’ fashion, we’ve got a boatload of it to review! So, settle in and enjoy :-)
When Gail was inducted into the Knockouts’ Hall Of Fame, Christy and Taryn were on hand to congratulate her. Gail looked aaaamazing in her coral gown with its daring front slit. I love this color on her, as well as the chic simplicity of this piece. The color and hint of sex appeal bring just enough drama to the look, which she completed with gorgeous metallic gold strappy sandals. Everything about this look is spot on. The Bellas have been tearing it up with photoshoots lately! They've given us BTS snaps from the latest, one done for an un-named mag and one for for Pacific San Diego in support of the soon-to-debut Total Bellas series. For the first, Brie looks ultra chic in a black ruffled halter top, paired with an asymmetrical hemlined midi skirt. The look finishes with a simple pair of strappy sandals - a perfect foil to the varied and complex lines of the skirt and top. I love the modern-femme vibe of this look! Nikki wears a classic tea length sheath in an entrancing shade of mallard blue that matches Brie's skirt. Nikki's look is completed by black platform peeptoe pumps. The simplicity of Nikki's outfit contrasts nicely with Brie's, but the two are tied together by the color, which looks fantastic in the shot, where the two walk away from a helicopter, making me think of them as two very seductive spies ;). The Pacific San Diego 'shoot's first look involves two navy lace dresses. Nikki's McQ lace mini gets a modern twist from the exposed zipper, while Brie's Chloe shift is accented with lace at the edges, giving it a wonderful, soft elegance. Her look is completed by white strappy heels from Giuseppe Zanotti, while Nikki's finishes with pointy-toe platform pumps (the St. Laurent Janis). It's fun to see the super-trendy pointy toe pump done as a platform, instead of the more common single sole! We also get a peek at Brie's next combo- a flowy, feminine white blouse paired with black crochet shorts (both from Maje) . Those two pieces are as classic as it gets - and have a wonderful combination of textures, but Brie also throws a couple of cool spins into the styling via her black fedora, massive statement ring and...black pointy toe ankle booties (from Valentino). I always love when the ladies try the unexpected and this pairing has a fab modern-boho-quirky vibe. Nikki's next ensemble is a pale gray dress coat that she tosses over a black blouse from Maje and black leather shorts. As with Brie's look, the textural pairing is fantastic - flowy silk with smooth, structured leather and cozy wool (props to 'shoot stylist Kristi Brooks <3). We got just a hint of Look 3 from both ladies. Nikki's is a black slipdress with floral print added at the skirt for a femme-meets-fatale vibe. Minimal strappy sandals (The Ted Baker Rynne) again complete this pairing. Brie's outfit includes a white lace camisole from Maje, paired with Ted Baker Ruthee floral shorts and topped with a gorgeous lilac cape - that color is so amazing! We only seem to see it in bits and whispers in fashion (remember Mila Kunis' heavenly Elie Saab dress at the 2011 Oscars? *heart eyes*), but I go head-over-stilettos for it every time! I'm a massive fan of how Brie's daring plum suede ankle booties bring out the luscious fruitiness of the color. Sounds like I'm describing a fine wine. How fitting ;)...and also ...wine. What an excellent idea! If you're swooning over those boots, they're the Ridley from Rebecca Minkoff.
Nikki's next outfit is a monochromatic coord set from A.L.C. with a subtle pattern and fringe at the hem of the top. Those two details, along with the lovely color, make this set incredibly attractive. Nikki spikes it with a matching wide-brimmed hat and suede pointy-toe pumps (the Saviy from Ted Baker). These choices, along with the hue, texture and movement of the piece help monochrome be far from bland! Brie's set by Sandro is done in a stylized floral with a modern-retro vibe. I love the fitted-but-forgiving cut. I'm also a fan of the magnificent mix of reds, oxblood and cerulean - so luxe! But my favorite aspect of the look is her choice to pair it with fierce strappy suede heels (by Dior, the Petale) in plum. It's a flawless example of mixing, without matching. The reds, spiked with blue, create a purple-ish cast, so even though it's only alluded to in the print, the plum shade coordinates gloriously. It's a sophisticated and brilliant use of color! Check out the interview HERE for all the pics and info! In the spirit of the Olympics, we have our own gold, silver and bronze to award J. Ours goes to the ladies’ who rocked our lives every time they appeared on our screen, the ones who slayed all day (and all night!) in their fabulous, glorious, so-good–they-couldn’t-help-but-get-us in-ring ensembles. Welcome to the return of Diva-Fierce.com’s Ring Gear Awards!
We’re kicking things off with the Knockouts. It’s taken some concerted efforts to get hold of KO’s pics this year, as things have been getting switched up in the company, but we’re pleased to say we’ve managed it. (Shoutout to all the ladies who have posted IG pics - thank you!) And we have some amazing looks to acknowledge and show mad respect to! And drool over…there’s definitely some drooling happening here. Whose looks made our jaws drop? There's a new face on FashionHap :). It belongs to Asuka, the current NXT Women's Champion. Having already earned rep in the ring as a stellar worker, the Japanese superstar is now heading toward earning a style rep as well. She wore this embellished black dress during the WWE's tour of Japan earlier this month. I love how the mix of metallic takes this dress out the realm of the classic LBD into something more vibrant and interesting. She finished it with chunky tan sandals which echo the gold tones of her dress. I could see strappy black sandals or pumps working here as well.
From a newbie to an icon: Maryse combined a bunch of familiar elements (black bodysuit, lace tights, patterned OTKs (by Isabelle Marant) and sleeveless trench), but took them to new heights via a single piece of stop-the-world-in-its-tracks jewelry. There's a better look at this piece coming in future FashionHaps, but it is a crystal bedecked bodychain and was created by DeMode Jewelry, a brand new company headed by a young Serbian designer with an amazing vision. I'm not even sure how Maryse got this piece, because the collection can not yet be shopped online. I guess when you're Maryse, you just attract things like this. Another day, another piece of crave-worthy, unavailable-to-the-public fashion. Hum-ho, NBD. ;) Maryse had the slayage in full force this month. From that ring outfit, she glided into a simple, sophisticated LBD (little blush dress ;) ), paired with Louboutin Cataclou studded espadrilles. The metallic sheen and confident attitude of the heels add just right dash of toughness to this spare, minimalist dress. Next up is a capri romper done in navy and white color blocking that takes the idea of athleisure off the street and on to the couture runways. Maryse elevated the look to something from a Gaga-video-meets-Vogue-shoot by completing it with transparent cap-toe booties. Oh. My. This is literally scaling hot and haute at the same time. I may not be able to go on after this. ... *regroups* Ok and then this happened: Natalya. In. BALMAIN. *keels over*. There will be no future FashionHaps because Brie can not officially form words anymore. ...J/K. But ssly, I'm having trouble keeping it together. Please, please tell me this is from a future shoot?! Please! I will beg, if need be. There's this and the Maryse and amazing Renee-snippets. I'm a masochist, really...'cuz I will prob not survive reviewing such a shoot, but go on, ladies..slay me. I'm in. :) Just...Balmain. efifjdiuoyglqipojhoiuogtgn. That bodysuit (and note, there was some debate as to whether Nat should go with black or white. Imagine..two versions of this. Or maybe be safe..and don't.) And this. JACKET. #WantIt. Cropped leather? Oversized grommets? Yaaaaaaaassss. More, please. |
