Lana absolutely SLAAAYS her Team Russia set, in which she pairs a DIY-halter soccer shirt with denim shorts. I think it’s her hair style that really takes these snaps into high gear – this 80’s-esque voluminous side part looks divine in her, both sensual and fierce! Her palest peach lip shade is the perfect accompaniment, giving a glacial sharpness to her look that gives high drama to her look. Since its Lana, there must be a bit of shine (a girl after my own heart :) <3), so she’s added a slim braided belt and a pair of slim chains at her neck. Her black choker coordinates with her strappy sandal-booties which, although I would have preferred if she had chosen one shade or the other of fishnet sock, there is no denying are incroyable. She shows restraint in her poses, not pushing them too hard, and the result is spectacular: a sexy, mysterious vibe with an athletic undertone that, in aggregate, has a massive visual impact akin to being on the receiving end of a goal kick.

WWE created one of their lately quite rare photoshoot opportunities for the Lady Superstars concurrent with the 1000th episode of Smackdown. The theme? Smackdown tees. Novel? Not so much. Slayable? Abso. The pull toward blandness is understandable, though: add a pair of pants and ta-da: you’re done. It’s so simple…maybe a little too simple for anyone who considers these activities not as art or expression but as a not especially interesting aspect of the game. Consequently, I can’t help but give a few more XO's to the ladies who put in extra effort to switch things up.
Billie Kay and Peyton each tossed a t-shirt over their ring gear, with Billie going for blue and Peyton for black. Their saving grace is their pose, one of their interesting and unique two-for stances. Billie also scores and extra point for her bright red lip that gives her look a bit of pop. I’m not sure how Charlotte managed to turn her tee into a cutout mockneck piece, but whatever forces she used, I’m down for them. She threw an on-trend sporty spin into her look by adding striped track pants. Her pose drips attitude and I’m here for that. Though not groundbreaking, the snap is 100% solid. Becky and Zelina chose the same leather leggings and were saved from the dread fashion sin of wearing the same look by Zelina opting to make her top a cropped silhouette. Her look works well and her pose is competent . I would have loved to see her chose a punchier lip shade to add a real exclamation point to the outfit. Beckys’s super simple tee needed the impact of the leather leggings to save it from yawnsville. Irl, the success of this look would come down to shoe choice. We don’t get the chance to see Becky’s choice, so I’m just going to imagine she went with some fab pair of boots or sneakers. I won’t dare go so far as wishing for blue suede pointy pumps ;). I’m wild over her hair and make-up here – these nude and peach shades are flawless for her and the soft volume in her hair is crave-worthy! WWE recently released a photo gallery showcasing some of the most dominant duos in sports entertainment. Naturally, they included my favorite pair: LayCool, and coincidentally also one of my favorites snaps of the devious ladies (I had nothing to do with this, I swear!). This fabulous wordy white tank paired with black shorts is from one of their series of Famous & Flawless ‘shoots. We just don’t get moments like this nowadays *nostalgic sigh*. I love what the ladies are doing now, but I miss the fashion-high of those days. Can’t lie. The ‘shoot was so well put together, with fantastic style (crystal-covered belts added a shot of glam to this chill look) and gorgeous, fierce poses. Even against the simple black backdrop, this set had such a powerful effect! Mickie is an established queen of the ring these days, but back when she debuted, she was best known as Trish Stratus’ biggest fan, eventually earning her place as Trish’s tag partner. With the significant skills of both ladies, they became a serious force in the Divas’ division in no time! Trish’s girl-next-door vibes perfectly matched Mickie’s Americana-hottie looks, making for sexy, effervescent photoshoots and in-ring moments.
Emma explored some casual looks before returning to fierceness during her Emmalina era. She and Renee did a twinsies look, pairing distressed blue denim with an Elton John baseball tee. Both ladies completed the look with boots. While I love the classic color combo and the laidback vibe, both of these feel just a bit bland to me. I'd have loved to see a spicy detail - fiercer boots, a half-tucked shirt and a statement belt...just a touch of something. Emma does essentially that in her next outfit, pairing a "love" tee with distressed denim and lace-up booties. I love the extra punch the shoe choice adds! Peyton Royce (at right) stayed simple and minimal with a cropped white tank and skinny denim. Boots finish off her unexciting look. Billie Kay (at left) got more creative with a tied white shirt topping worn denim. She went for strappy sandals as an exclamation point, along with a slim metal collar. Her look is casual, but polished and interesting, primarily due to her unique choice of top and just-right combo of uncomplicated but trendy pieces.
Emma was back to the bikinis in this leaf-print halter two-piece from Show Me Your Mumu. The scale of this print is excellent for her - not too massive and overwhelming, but still bold. The peach-cobalt-mint-emerald color combo is super pretty and fun. The verdant setting really makes it pop, too! Among my favorite shots from the Emmalina era is this next one: a wedgewood blue v-neck bodysuit, paired with the same lace-up booties Emma rocked during her night out with Billie and Peyton. She gets huge props for her dark, smoldering make-up that makes this gorgeous, bright summer scene come alive with fierce, sensual energy. Denim shorts could be added to this look for casual styling, while a sheer maxi skirt would work as a fashion-forward alternative, depending on the event. If said event was such that a sheer-over-bodysuit approach would be frowned upon, a pleated mini skirt would be super cute and bring movement and volume to this sleek bodycon piece. May was a sweet month for WWE fashion! Among other notable events, we saw Natalya give the hot and trendy choker a try, paired with this zip-front top. It Chokers work fabulously with lower necklines, like this deep-v. Nattie accented it with hoop earrings for a touch of shine.
I'm always on the lookout for new divas (oopps...superstars!) who bring a sense of fashion to the ring. This gear from Peyton Royce caught my eye, due both to the design and the unusual color combination. Mint with plum is a unique pairing and I love the way the two cool tones complement each other. The mint gets a wonderful zing from the fruity purple shade - it looks good enough to eat! :) The cross-body piece is also a fun choice of design. It's practical, but not common. The textural accents add dimension and sprinkle the extra color throughout the look, while the sheer insets add another layer of intrigue. This is quite an intricate gear set for a lady who isn't yet on the main roster, making me think Peyton is definitely one to keep an eye on as far as fashion goes! Stephanie took her turn at the menswear-esque suiting look, pairing a powerful blazer with leather skinny pants. Like Renee's ivory WrestleMania suit, this jacket creates an instant impression. Note, though, how much higher the stance is on Steph's jacket, creating an empire waist. The similar long cut with the different higher stance keep Steph's look a touch boxier, but equally strong and confident. Pairing it with leather brings even more edge, but that is softened just enough by her white shirt and half up-do. Her pendant enhances the v-neckline of her blouse and helps balance the look. This pairing is much riskier than many that we've seen on Steph. I love seeing her step outside her comfort zone with her fashion and the boldness of this outfit works really well, in addition to suiting her on-camera persona. This gear from Charlotte reprises the design of WrestleMania gear, but switches the colors. Instead of blue accented with silver, it's a study in black, with the blue retained as just an accent color. The design is still attractive and the center floral stars are just mesmerizing, but I find the black a tad dull after the glorious blue as a main shade. I wonder if a stronger accent color, or something more surprising - like a holograph material- wouldn't have worked a little better for a darker statement look. Eva Marie attended the Bellami Hair red carpet event along with Maryse. Eva glowed in a sequined suit. Going cami-free works for a formal night event and I love the way her polished, slick ponytail added a more refined vibe to her look. She added a spark of color with red, suede ankle straps sandals - love those shoes! And the extra color is a nice way to throw a twist into this look, which could easily have been an expected black monochrome ensemble. |
