The fashion photoshoot is mostly no longer a thing among the Lady Superstars (and I will fight that til time’s end! :)), but there were just enough themed ‘shoots for us to scrounge up some fabulous ones for this year’s Silver Snap Awards (phew :)). What did we love at Diva-Fierce? (And, all-importantly, ..why did we love said ‘shoots): Charlotte- Talkin’Body Well, obvi, amirite? It’s not everyday we get this risqué a ‘shoot from the Lady Superstars (def not Divas ;)..except in Brie’s head). And that’s not a bad thing, but this was truly a well-done take on this type of shoot. There’s no denying it was scalding hot. But Charlotte and the ‘shoot designers/photographer did an excellent job in in keeping these snaps in art-territory, with a heavy dose of the sport influence. The concept worked wonderfully well, with Charlotte’s stances and expressions earning a lot of the credit for bringing a power and intensity to these pics that kept them far more serious than sensual. Stripped-down athleticism is a stop-you-in-your-tracks kind of combo, so how could we help including it in our best photoshoots of the year? Lana - Kickin’ It From nude power to clothed sensuality: Lana’s Kickin’ It ‘shoot leaped off the screen for its masterful blend of fashion (athleisure-influenced sporty tank + denim, finished with a killer pair of strappy booties = slayage. The fab choker and on-trend slim chains were just gravy), lighting and scorching poses. Girlfriend always could bring the drama with her facials and stances and this set is full, solid evidence that her talents have not gotten rusty. Any time you pair fantastic style with killer poses in an editorial-quality set of snaps, I’m in so I am 110% here for this ‘shoot! Bayley & Sasha -Hug That Boss It’s dang near next to impossible to make a cray basic gear ‘shoot with a drab gray backdrop pop. It doesn’t get any more humdrum than this…except when Bayley and Sasha get involved! Their coordinating, brightly patterned gear was just right set against the minimalist gray cloth. Their personality-driven, super-creative poses took this set to the next level. I’ve never seen exuberance come across so well. This set made me smile with every shot. With all the gear sets we’ve seen and all the duo and squad sets we’ve seen, we’ve never seen one like this. And that takes some serious chops. Alexa – New York Bliss I guess that since we’re getting mainly gear ‘shoots, it shouldn’t be surprising that our top ‘shoots of the year contains another one. Alexa’s contribution stood out due to her excellent use of setting and scenery: roaming about the streets of New York was a fitting place to find Ms. Bliss. She had the good instinct to wear her amazing Wrestlemania gear that I adored form the get-go. The neutral colors kept things from getting too busy, while the sparkle and studs prevented her from blending in. As with Bayley and Sasha, Blissy added big oomph to her set through her poses: playing on police barriers, exiting the subway, striking a pose on the city’s landscaped rocks made for novel shots and freshness – kicked up with a dash of attitude and cool gear is an attention-getting combination around here! Now it's your turn! Which photoshoot rocked your world the most? Help us pick The One very best set of the year: Like the Lady Superstars, there has been only a scant offering of photoshoots form the Knockouts this year as Impact has worked through its growing pains. However, they gave us a bit of a flurry of activity toward the end of the year – just enough for a triad of year-end-award-worthy picks: Tessa – New York Heat I was totally won over by the authenticity in the vibe of this ‘shoot from Tessa – it felt precisely like something a chill downtown girl would wear when she’s out with her girls and they’re having some fun with their Instagrams…but she still might have to explain the pics to Grandma over family dinner. It’s not over-polished, creating a raw vibe that works really well, especially with the fire escape adding a dash of daring and an experimental feel. Tess comes off as the kind of chick you’d def want to hang with on the weekend! Her style is solid and those killer boots cement the fashion side of the deal. They’re fierce, while still seeming accessible. She gets bonus points for the switch to a sporty outfit within the ‘shoot and the corresponding hair style change. Rebel - Anything But Basic There’s an art to making a simple, stripped-down ‘shoot pop and Rebel made this one come vibrantly alive via her high-drama poses. While her minimalist black tee and cut-off jeans were about as tried-and-true as it gets, they served as the perfect setting for her sexy, sassy stances. Who doesn’t love the bombshell next door? She also gets Fierce points for the on-trend pinkie ring – I love that detail! Reb worked these snaps for sure and the result was stellar! Yves St. Laurent once said “What is important in a dress is the woman wearing it”. Clearly, the same is true for jeans and a tank ;). Scarlett – New York Heat ScarDeaux’s take on the NY Heat ‘shoot left me mindblown – it just had EVERYthing! Her fashion choices were superb (I’m still dreaming about those boots!); cute, quirky cool-girl stylings get me hard every time. Her poses slayed, exuding cheeky confidence in spades, while nailing a Vogue-worthy vibe. Nothing staid or bland here! And then, of course, if you managed to drag your eyes off her, there was that gorge yellow backdrop. It’s basically perfection via image and I’m cheering.
