WWE has released a gallery of never-before-seen (or “basically reeeeaaally similar but not exactly what you’ve seen before”) shots of Nikki. They’ve definitely dug back into the archives and given us some oldies, which is really fun, because we can how her style has evolved. But, equally special, is that they’ve given us a number of BTS snaps, so we get to see Nikki posing for a ‘shoot, lacing her sneakers and enjoying her title belt. She’s amazing about sharing her day-to-day life, but the prep that goes on before and around matches still mostly keeps under the radar. The gallery provides an enjoyable look at a side of her we don’t get to see enough of, as well as giving us a closer peek at all that fab, sporty gear she perpetually thrills us with! Black leather lined with red, cobalt blue gear accessorized with a studded baseball cap, a tee topped with a varsity bomber: it's all here to be savored! Brie: One thing this gallery highlights is Nikki’s willingness to take risks with her poses. We see various shots of her whipping her hair, pouting for the camera or whipping her hair over shoulder, as she does in this Bella 02 gear shot. Since gear ‘shoots are often so simple, it takes a special effort to make them come alive and be compelling. Nikki’s fearless experimentation accomplishes that and it’s one reason her photoshoots are so amazing! Of course, her stellar fashion sense doesn’t hurt either ;). This sporty black and white look was a fabulous new direction-change from the glamour and, later, the grunge, we’d seen from the Twins. The timing of the switch was impeccable: it was right on-trend with what was happening in fashion and it felt fresh and fun! The gallery also includes a pair of snaps from my very favorite gear of the era, a red mesh lace-up top overlaying a red brassiere paired with leather shorts. Even the yellow and black gear can’t top it (although it comes in a veeeeery close second) and, for me, that IS saying something! :) I remember this black monochrome outfit photoshoot coming out to rave reviews. There’s something about the straightforward styling that rocked the world. The cut-out top definitely cranks up the seduction, while the leather panel of the mini skirt toughens the look up significantly. Nikki completed the look with knee-high leather boots, but I could 100% see her finishing this off with her spiked Louboutin spiked Pigalle heels. While she added sass with flushed pink at this ‘shoots debut, today I bet we’d see Nikki go for a bold, red lip! We’ve seen her grow so much in her style during her years with WWE. This pink cami and white bandage skirt snap is from pre-2011 and while the skirt feels totally Nikki-esque, I can’t see her pairing it with that top these days. The cami is cute but it feels a little sloppy, due to the thin-ness of the material, and that makes the whole look come off a tad awkward. The massive white bangle also doesn’t have Nikki’s current level of polish. I do love seeing her in pink again, though! I’m so used to her red, white and black theme that it’s surprising and hence, enjoyable :). Nikki finished this look with floral pumps. The roots of Nikki’s style are definitely here, but it’s an amazing reminder of how much her fashion choices have matured. Right now, her risk-taking, modern chic exudes sophistication and sultriness that this just can’t match. Witness the much later shot that follows: sheer front panel, vintage-come-modern peplum, scalding red color – this is powerful, fearless fashion done with ringing command of style.
