I was very, very late to the Sea of Shoes party – it was one of the first style blogs on the scene, started by Jane Aldridge in 2007. I have only become a devotee recently, but I’m so glad I did! Jane is a fascinating content creator because she adores fashion, but doesn’t follow trends. The blog was originally created to document her love of vintage pieces and that premise holds true today, as she includes many vintage finds in her blogs. Amplifying that is her very creative, very versatile, very much from-the-heart fashion sense. She creates pairings no one else would and flows easily through a massive range of genres, from sweetly femme to menswear, eye-watering colors and prints to minimalism, modernity to Victoriana. Reading her blog is like taking a journey through style philosophies and you never know where it will lead. Ultimately, though, she always brings a fascinating perspective to the table, something that makes you see fashion for a different angle. And that is delightful!

I've been loving Annabelle Fleur's blog, Viva Luxury since the day I found it! Annabelle has a wonderfully chic sense of style, even when she's doing laidback looks. She always manages to inject a sense of sumptuousness and sophistication into her styling. It can be as simple as adding velvet sandals to a denim look, or pairing satin sneakers with shorts. Her style is fabulous - a blend of vintage femininity with a modern edge. There's a consistent glamour , but it's subtle and inviting. She often mixes casual and fancy pieces, which I adore! There's plenty of inspiration here for how to wear dressier items in the daytime. The photos on the blog are beautifully done, capturing a moody softness which brings a restful vibe, as if you are entering the house of a close friend for a quiet escape and good conversation. That last is particularly evoked by my favorite thing about Annabelle: she's one of the few blog writers who, instead of just relying on her pictures and a throwaway blurb, really writes about her fashion thoughts and choices and gives insights as to why she picked certain pieces or styled an outfit a certain way. I love seeing how others think about fashion, so it's one of the things that immediately drew me in to Viva Luxury. In addition to style, she intermixes posts about travel and beauty, with the same accessible thoughtfulness. Her blog is definitely one to add to your list of stylish online place to visit!
As you might conclude from the name, Pink Peonies does indeed present a myriad of outfits that utilize pink. Rach also works in a number of neutrals, though, as well as some other classic shades so it's not like pink overload :). It is, however, a perfect guide to building a wardrobe around a neutral palette, spiked with a signature shade. So, if that's a fashion philosophy that attracts you, Pink Peonies is sure to give you some inspiration. In addition to some beautiful, feminine and classic looks, Rach has a genius for putting together casual pieces that have just the right touches of distinction and style consequence to make them borrow-worthy. They're masterfully balanced proportionally and incorporate enough basic pieces that you don't need access to the Vogue closet to translate them with your own wardrobe. She intersperses inspiration-board style posts, as well as collected picks for fashion elements that are striking her fancy each season. She discusses beauty, accessories and home decor as well - pretty much anything she loves! :) And, if you find yourself in love with her personal style, you can check out her own fashion line, which is available online via the "Shop" link on the site. So, definitely make sure you while away some hours at Pink Peonies on your fashion explorations!
After a bit of a lengthy hiatus, one of my favorite bloggers is BACK! And I'm so excited to be able to yabber to you about her site. As you probably know, I have a passionate relationship with shoes. Many shoes. All kinds and varieties of fabulous shoes. Ashley, who created ShoeRazzi, is either my kin or my spirit animal in that respect. Her blog is entirely devoted to SHOES. :) So, basically: happiness in a website. She ID's shoes celebs are wearing (and you can search by celeb to focus on your faves), reviews collections (literally scroll through dreamy descriptions and picks of hundreds of crave-worthy shoes) and - my very favorite feature!- creates "Shoes She Should Have Worn" posts, where she picks new finishers for celebs whose choices leave us hungering for just a bit more. It's a fantastic place to see where shoe style is headed (and therefore fashion in general, as well), to get a sense of what the stars are loving lately or to just indulge yourself in salivating over quantities of glorious pieces of footwear. If you have even the slightest spark of interest in shoe game, ShoeRazzi needs to be on your periodic hit list! Cheers :)
There are bunches of reasons to make sure you take a gander at extrapetite.com. First and foremost, if you are the small-of-stature-but-large-of-heart type, Jean fills her blog with reviews, tips and commentary on styling, brands and fits for petite sizes. She is a must-read if you need some inspiration for what works on someone less-than-tall and some notes on what doesn't. Second, there's her classic, chic style - which is why I'm a devotee of her blog. This Boston native is unfailingly proper, but always with a unique twist. Seeing the way she makes classic feel fresh is a site highlight. Thirdly, her blogging style is a joy because she shares her thoughts on the pairings she's created and gives you some of her process, adjustments and considerations. Don't you just LOVE to know how someone thinks about their fashion? Yaaaaaaaas. Lastly, she sprinkles her lookbook with tips-posts that include super-easy (like "so-easy-Brie-can-do-it-with-her-time-challenged-life") high buns that stay in place, DIY mini-alterations and make-up tutorials. It makes her blog a fun and worthwhile read, whether you're petite or not. PS if she reminds you a bit of Wendy at Wendy's Lookbook, well..that would be because they're bff's ;). So, head on over and enjoy!
This is a new find of mine, but deffffffinitely one you have to check out periodically. If you have a senior in your life who rocks your fashion world, this site will probably make you think of them :). If you're ever worried about what you can wear at what age, the ladies and gents of Advanced Style will show you how to be fearless! It's a complete and total jazz to scroll through pics of those who have dried off a bit behind the ears. They are a fabulous reminder that style knows no age. It defies time, wrinkles and wheelchairs. It's a gift you can keep and enjoy forever. Every time I visit the site, I'm delighted by the boldness and personality that comes bursting through these snaps. I think it's a result of being immersed in style long enough to be fully acquainted with what it can offer, to be able to see past trends and choose only what is the most perfect expression of themselves and their artistic senses. I've realized that there are many styles elders can pull off that youths simply can't. Where youth would look silly, age looks audacious! The style here often encompasses a lot of color, which is insanely fun, as well as a lot of drama and moments of pure, classic sophistication. In many cases, the fashionistas and dapper fellows pass on little nuggets of wisdom as well. So, go visit...and prepare to be enchanted! Sometimes, inspiration isn't an idea for what you will wear tomorrow, but an idea for what you will be able to wear in thirty or forty years! <3
I'm a huge fan of singer-songwriters....and, being a fashion-lover, when singer-songwriters also happen to have killer style, well, it makes my little bees' knees weak :). Consequently, Taylor Swift is a favorite...like massive, cray-cray, can't live without her favorite..of mine and nobody, I mean NOBODY, covers Taylor's style like Sarah at tayswiftstyle.com. She id's items, provides links when available, adds Get-The-Look options, does fun surveys and - best of all in my book - provides little insights and comments on Taylor's look that reveal Sarah's own, sterling fashion sense. If you're a fan of style, Taylor or both...or Harry Styles even..(j/k :)), this blog is a MUST READ.
*all quotes and pics above are from Sarah/TaySwiftStyle. I've mentioned previously that I love to check out independent fashion bloggers for inspiration. I've mentioned the Fabulous Muses (check out the Read More for add'l info), but today, I'm going to introduce you to another of my faves: Wendy at Wendy's Lookbook. Her style is polished, feminine with a splash of attitude and always on point. She mixes textures like a boss. It's so much fun to see what she puts together! And also, I inevitably get some great thoughts on fashion to inspire my look :). I mentioned her magnificent Jewel Tones post recently, which inspired my purple dress inspiration board. Since then, she's been rocking great holiday season styles day in and day out, so head on over and check out her blog!
