I was so head-over-heels with Renee's overalls look that I just had to do an Inspiration Board moment for it! I've jettisoned her white tank and gone with two spring-weather-appropriate re-imaginings. The first is polished and fierce, utilizing a crisp white button-down as the background piece. Pair this one with your fiercest black sandals, cutout or lace-up booties or studded pointy-toe pumps. If you gravitate toward something a bit more casual, go for the second iteration, with a turtleneck underneath and black ankle booties - suede works, as does leather. If you're feeling like trying out a sChOOLgirl look, swap the booties for oxfords (heeled or flat)...and a pair of glasses ;). As the weather warms up more, you could do this a la Renee, with a white tank, and pair it with chunky-heeled ankle strap sandals for a hip 70's nod. This look could even work for date night in the summer (really). I'd slip black bandeau underneath instead of the white tops. Finish with your sexiest heels...or a pair of combat boots ;). Overalls have been all over the street style blogs lately and are definitely having a moment, so don't be afraid to give this unique option a try. 'Cuz in the end, style reigns over all :)

I've gotta say...I really really love these overalls Renee has picked out! I love their uniqueness. I love their trendiness. I love how undeniably cool they are. I know how she's playing it in this pic and it's ttly cute. But ssly, these overalls are HOT. Can't you just see them with a mockneck, croptop or black bandeau underneath and FIERCE ankle booties or strappy sandals? Oh yepperses.
I'm not generally a huge, massive fan of prints, but I'm attracted to the simplicity of the one on this coord set Brie is wearing. The white flowers just loosely sprinkled around the black background look gracefully chic, and not at all overdone. The classic color scheme probably has something to do with it, too. But after a few seasons of print on top of print, and so many of them busy, graphic and/or oversized, this has a quality of restraint about it that feels liberating. Eden called this dress her homage to Madonna, referencing the white lacy lingerie dress of the latter's Like A Virgin video/1984 VMA performance. While the three pieces share the color of innocence, Eden's taste is, as usual, far classier and more chic than many other starlets. Her sheath is flirty and gorgeous with its lace insets, exhibiting a subtle coquettishness, rather than making an overtly racy and somewhat irreverent artistic statement. While Madonna's look worked magnificently as an integral element of her performances, Eden's choice is much more appropriate for the real world. Finishing the look with Eden-like peeptoe pumps or Madonna-esque pointy-toe heels works equally well. Shoes can be so diplomatic ;) Brie's been rocking some tangerine lately and sister Nikki got in on the act with this melon lace set. As with Brie, this sun-kissed shade looks ahhhmazing on her. The simple lines of the spaghetti straps and pencil skirt work flawlessly with the intricate and beautiful lace pattern. While I tend to prefer same-hued linings under lace, I really love how the nude lining works here. It's so similar enough to the melon shade that it doesn't make the stark and sometimes disconcerting contrast that light linings often can. Tnstead, it adds depth and richness to the surface color. Gold sandals would be my first thought to complete the look, with nude or cream-in-coffee heels being my second. Are you ready for warm weather, flowers and bumblebees yet? Once we get on the flip side of the holidays, Spring becomes my immediate goal. And nothing is Spring-ier than bright color! Brie demonstrated this is a summer-festival-ready outfit from the barrage of looks she graced us with earlier this month on Insta. She paired her flowy boho maxi with a scrunched white tank for a free-wheeling, joyous combo. What really makes this styling come alive is her intense tangerine lip shade - it carries the color upward and makes her look radiant! If you've got a flaming orange boho maxi in your closet, I'm all for you digging it out right now ;), but any strong color will do - lime, bright lemon, royal blue, cerise. Stripes are good, prints are fab, pleated is trendy. If you're headed to somewhere that tanks are frowned upon, swap in a classic white boyfriend tee instead, half-tucked or knotted. (PS ditching the tank also opens up the possibility of using a bright boho dress, instead of a skirt.) Also feel free to rock this look even if the sun hasn't quite found it's way to your home base. Go with a drape-y ivory sweater on top (layer a tank, a tee or an Icebreaker merino base piece underneath depending on what the temps warrant). Keep the slouchy wanderer vibe by belting it into a blouson shape. Choose leather or suede in a warm shade: caramel, tan, camel, chocolate. Punched designs, studs or Old-West details get bonus points ;). Finish the look with coordinating booties or boots. Then, borrow yourself a Volkswagen bus (painted-on flowers optional) and let those festival feels fly...even if you're only heading to SchoolFest! or 9to5Fest! or ScroungedUpPartTimeEarningsFest! :)....hmm.... don't quite have the same thrill, do they? Well, we can dream, dagnabit. And dream, we shall. Happy dreaming!
