The Wrestlemania Golf Tournament always turns up some interesting fashion. It can be a bit tricky to have functional athletic gear that's still cute too :). Dana goes for ultra trendy sage green with her tee and pairs it with wild mixed-print leggings. I like the way her tee coordinates with the dusty green tones in the marble patterning. Mickie earns some props by bringing color into her look as well. I can't say I'd immediately reach for these plum knee socks with their cobalt stripes, but I love the way they add a big punch of color to her look - as well as coordinating quite nicely with her playful polka dot polo (I get points every time I use alliteration :)). Set against the look's major hue of bright white, the color really works fabulously. Also, how cute is Mickie with glasses? So cute, right?! I wish she had put her hair in a ponytail and really showed them off! Naturally, Alicia slays her golf tourney look - pretty sure she does this by habit now :). Her checked pants are whimsical and so so fun! She pairs them with a classic black tee and then tops it all with a luxe fur vest - how often you see one of those on the golf course?! The texture is fantastic, but the surprise of the inclusion of such a piece is even more so. Oh, and she's not done: Foxy finishes the outfit with a black fedora embellished with a massive burgundy peony. That piece is completely aaaaaaaahmazing! This whole look is fabulous...and totally Foxy - relaxed, unusual, bold, creative and pulled together. Girlfriend is slaying that golf course like a catwalk! This killer causal look would be equally at home in a coffeehouse, shopping, a girl squad lunch,..so many places! Cathy gives Foxy a lil' style competition with her look - she pairs a black v-neck tee and a caramel leather skirt with oh-so-trendy pleats. I'm guessing she finished her outfit with the black sneakers each of the other ladies were sporting as well, which works perfectly in my book, picking up on the athleisure trend, as well as being functional for actual athletics. Like Foxy's ensemble, Cathy's look would be quite fab off the course as well. Nicely done, ladies!

Barbie was backstage at Raw in Las Vegas in February and looking fabulous! As an aside, I'm so impressed with how she speaks about her time in WWE - how grateful she is for the start and opportunities they gave her and how respectful of the company. It's really nice to hear and reflects well on all parties. I love her pairing of a simple black tee with black denim. She adds just the right pop to the look with beige suede OTKs, which break up all the black and add a sophisticated brightness to the styling. Her Hermes belt brings in a hint of flash, but in a subtle way. This is precisely the kind of look that makes me head-over-heels for Barbie's fashion! Alongside her, Sasha was sparkling in a sequined romper, paired with flat OTKs - her tv look for the night. It's a simple combination that works nicely and ha enough flash to suit her persona. I'm also loving Alicia's outfit, as she dips into her trendy-meets classic side. Her monochrome look includes a sheer-panelled top, on-trend wide leg pants and a chic blazer. Pointy toe pumps complete the look flawlessly, lengthening the leg line (not that Foxy needs that ;)) and adding a subtly powerful vibe. Although as different as can be from Barbie's look, Alicia's outfit is an equally magnificent example of the kind of style that makes me swoon!
Barbie took her style even more casual with this relaxed look from mid-February. She paired a white tee with cut-off blue denim shorts - so far, so classic! Instead of the ubiquitous bomber, she chose to top the look with an iconic safari jacket in dark olive. Caramel Timberland boots completed the look. I love how her choice of heeled boots gives this look a bit more panache and distinction than flats would have. Barbie's winter also included a meet-up with bff Maryse. "Blondes in black" seemed to be the theme of the night, with both ladies reaching for the iconic neutral. Barbie paired her scoop-neck top with leather slim pants and a mixed media bomber jacket - I've been waiting to see her hop on that trend and she rocks it with off-duty model aplomb. Minimalist strappy sandals and a racy lace-up choker brought attitude and sultriness to her look. Maryse also went the scoop-neck top + black denim route (I guess super-stylish divas think alike! :)). She topped her look with a trendy capelet in a fantastic duster length and finished it off with taupe boots, which - as with Barbie's earlier look - add a refreshing contrast to the black. This pairing really hinges on the swirly fabulosity of the capelet; it's a statement piece that needs little other embellishment to create a chic and confident casual vibe - basically, a streetwear variation of her current-trademark tv apparel. I'm not sure who turned off the color for January, but the lady Superstars were wearing a LOT of black. I think we could have officially called it the Color Of The Month! Fortunately, they gave a ton of great variations and unique personal style with it as well, which made it certain that black wasn't in the least boring!
Alicia Fox kicked off the black trend and I'm pretty sure that her sense of style doesn't even know what the word "boring" means..or that it even exists, actually. This look is totally AMAZING. It's a clasic Foxy funky, trendy, fierce cataclysm that pairs a v-neck top with leather shorts, which is simple enough. But she takes it to a whole new level with this high-low tuxedo jacket! The piece picks up on the flowy-topper trend and I loooove the way she pairs the long coat over a shorter underlayer. She gives it casual panache sheepskin-lined mid-calf flat boots, left open with the tongue rolled down in front. The styling is super hot and utterly fierce all at once. Foxy's style = #Goals. Maryse did her part in the blackout via the Tatiana dress ( by House of CB London, sadly sold out) LBD which got a fab twist from the studs at the shoulders and short sleeves. This is classic style, done in a classically Maryse-way: simple LBD, spiced up with tough, glittering studs for a rock-queen vibe. She keeps the look more polished than edgy by finishing it with her current favorite crossed ankle-strap pumps. I enjoy seeing her play up the sleeker side of the studwork. Charlotte is no stranger to black and this look found her exploring the color at its most minimal: black top, black leggings, black suede OTKs. It could all be a yawn, but it isn't - because she topped it all with an of-the-moment capelet that added just enough panache to give this look distinction. Sometimes, one choice is so incredibly significant! :) I also love the way she left her blonde hair long and loose, but with body - so soft and pretty! Stephanie gave this high-stance blazer another turn and this time, she really cranked the sizzle by pairing it with a sheer-inset top with a super-deep scoopneck. Wowza! You probably couldn't get away with this at your run-of-the-mill office, so we're fortunate that this is WWE and risky is encouraged! After that jaw-dropping moment, she takes things back to refinement by adding wide-leg pants and simple black sandals. She accessorized with crystal statement earring that I'm 100% on board for - even with the daring statement of her top, one little extra detail is perfect - it hits just the right note with its tough of shine. This was apparently as great month for hair, as well as for black - I'm loving Steph's polished ponytail! It's youthful, but confident and shows off those earrings swimmingly! Style with a classic bent always makes my fashion heart beat wildly, so it should be no surprise that this look from Alicia caught my attention! She paired a v-neck sleeveless top with a pencil skirt in an earthily opulent mahogany shade and spiked the whole look with a silk oblong scarf in a trendy dark floral print. It's a fabulous pairing that makes the most of textural contrasts and color harmonies. The first step to stealing..er...borrowing : ...this look is to swap the sleeveless top for a cool-weather-appropriate sweater. Stay with a v or scoopneck - that will be important later for highlighting the scarf. (If you need add'l warmth, consider a wool topcoat, blazer or refined bomber jacket). Next, pick your pencil skirt. You're looking for a fabric that's a bit tougher or more solid than diaphanous silk, so go with leather, like Foxy, or suede. Other equally workable alternatives include denim or classic wool (choose a coarser version, rather than a piece with a super-fine weave). Avoid fabrics like tulle and chiffon, which will tend to mute the scarf's floaty, delicate quality because of their similarity to it. Neutral or classic shades like black, burgundy, blush or navy make coordinating come easy. (PS Feel free to try this look with wide-leg pants if pencil skirts aren't on your agenda atm). Next on the agenda is the keystone: your silk scarf. Lean toward a print over a solid for visual interest. Do it Foxy's way with dark florals (or bright florals :)), or go with a modern, graphic print. Alternatively, give something whimsical like an animal print (I'm thinking actual cats, more than leopard - but the leopard will totally work if that's your jazz :)), or a sketch. The 70's vibe in this outfit comes from the scarf's positioning: Foxy used a side knot, which gives the scarf a similar look to a choker, but with a bit more presence. The classic positioning is to have one end drape in front of your body and one end in back, although if you use a very long oblong scarf, you could set the knot to the back of your neck and let both ends float down your back for an extremely chic look. Lastly: choose the shoes! Get fierce with pointy-toe ankle booties, enhance the 70's vibe with a chunky-heeled boot or keep it classic with a loafer or lace-up flat. I hope this inspires you to excavate a silk scarf from the depths of your dresser soon :)Happy (silky) styling!
In early January, WWE held its annual press conference to announce the location of the next Wrestlemania and it turns out that the 34th edition of the Granddaddy Of Them All will be in New Orleans! Laissez le bon temps rouler, lovelies :) It was good times as far as fashion at the conference, for sure! (And it was an especially good time por moi as the Undertakermade an appearance *marks out madly* ahem. Sorry. *smoothes hair and attempts to act like an adult again while continuing to do an inner happy dance* Did I mention I love the Taker? He's actually the guy who made me a wrestling fan, but that's a tale for another day). To fashion! Alicia Fox was devastatingly 70's-chic with her leather midi pencil skirt in a wonderful mahogany shade. She paired it with a lovely, drape-y ivory blouse and solidified the fabulousness of the outfit by knotting an oblong dark floral silk scarf at her neck. I'm head-over-heels for the simple sophistication of this look - Foxy just smashes it! On the make-up front, I can often find the dark lip trend harsh, but here, the choice carries the rich color upwards and ties this whole sterling outfit together. This is another amazing combination from Foxy Fierce!
Alexa Bliss's little black dress sports dotted-tulle embellishments that give a sweet-vintage vibe to the piece. It's a fitting choice for the girly-tough style sensibilities we've seen so far from Blissy. Although I might have reached for something more professional than playful, Alexa carries this well - she has an adorable vivacity to her that makes this look work. She finished it with simple black pumps and a dose of her trademark sparkle via a crystal statement necklace. She also wins Fierce points for her sweet and pretty pinned half up-do. Maryse reprised the La Perla suit we raved over previously. Unlike that occasion, though, she chose soft blush shades for her make-up palette this time around and I love the effect! It's soft and has a natural-but-better glow that's completely stunning on her! Charlotte's choice was a sheer-inset LBD that added a subtle dose of sexy to a classic dress. Char's instincts for these type of events are generally spot on and such is the case here. My only caveat with this dress is that the fit seems just a touch off. Fortunately, however, its not particularly distracting from this classy-meets-flirty look. Charlotte adds in a fun twist by completing the styling with glittered pointy toe pumps in a surprising and welcome addition of glamour. Like Maryse, Stephanie re-uses a sheath for us: this beautiful robins-egg blue dress first caught our attention during Wrestlemania week this year and again during SummerSlam, when she dressed it down with a blazer. She's done the same here, adding a touch of cool-weather polish. Suede peeptoe booties finish off the look and I like the additional texture, as well as the way the black grounds the light, bright blue. One of the WWE's first forays into doing photoshoots with a single theme, but multiple divas involved was the Diva Day Off series. The galleries gave us an insight into what the lady superstars do when they're not in the ring, or preparing for it and, rather than a lot of high fashion, we got to see a much more chill side of the gals, with lingerie, casual looks and workout gear. The series gave us peeks at Eva Marie doodling, Paige doing her nails and Charlotte shopping. Thanks to Kim's excavations, we have a pair of DDO collages to remember and get all nostalgic about: Rosa's and Alicia's. Rosa's day off was a hybrid of getting her sweat on, followed by some sexy lounging about and reading for a bit of R & R. Sounded like a fantastic day off then...and still does now! The standout part of the 'shoot for me was the stunning coral shade of her knit bodycon dress. Not only was the color gorgeous in its own right, it looked incredible on Rosa, creating a soft flush that highlighted her beauty perfectly. The sherbet shades of this section of her snaps were sweet and inviting, popping off the white sheets that served as the main backdrop and creating a peaceful, summer vibe. It was a very different look for a Rosa 'shoot - definitely unlike anything we'd seen previously from her and the whole thing came together in the most stunning way!
Like Rosa's 'shoot, Foxy's snaps showcased a side of her we hadn't seen previously: it marked the first time she made her artistic side a focal point in a photoshoot. I loved all the bright colors and crazy patterns in this set, especially with the super-simple ivory walls as the canvas for them. The plain background highlighted all the shades and prints, without ever making them seem too busy or distracting to the eye. That gave the joyous, funky vibe of the set cohesiveness and weight. Foxy paired a simple gray cropped tank with rainbow paint-splatter shorts which echoed the artistic theme of the snaps, as well as being mad fun! She added an effervescent pair of striped wedge peeptoe heels, which brought in an additional layer of color - and pattern! - which was further enhanced by the printed pillows. Foxy also broke out her glasses for us, throwing a lightheartedly studious spin into the snaps. The set succeeded fabulously, really letting Foxy's quirky, creative side shine. And then, there was the gallery that focused on the Divas' anatomy. No, not that way. This was an actual look at the muscle groups required to make a superstar. The focus ranged from Nikki's glutes to Foxy's hamstrings, Carmella and Sasha's abs to Becky's shoulders. (I would also have called out Beck's biceps and triceps! Seriously, have you seen this gal flex?! #Goals). One of the main benefits of these types of collections is that we get great snaps of the ladies' outfits, allowing us to appreciate details, harmonies or contrasts we might not have seen before. Becky's gear is so simple that it doesn't leave much room for that. Her non-standard poses help to allay that, though! Sasha gives us the cool stare I was hoping for previously and I like the way it works. If I were nitpicking (if :)), I might request that it have just a shade more attitude. This is cool and calm. But what about cool and challenging? I hope to see that from her sometime soon :) Alicia's snaps give us a close-up look at her incredible gear. It's a confection of straps, sequins, studs and sheer, all integrated with enough restraint and artistic sensibilities to give us a jaw-dropping ring ensemble. Foxy makes continual slight variations to the execution and every one of them has rocked hard. She's done a number of fine gear ensembles throughout the year, but this silhouette is unquestionably the top of the bunch. This cherry red shade looks spectacular on her and she gets additional props for the subtle make-up that enhances the look without competing with her outfit. Her hamstrings are what WWE is calling attention to here and it's no surprise that her gorgeous, long legs are a major weapon in her offense. Her leaping pose shows them off, as well as providing us with an absolutely killer action shot! If abs are your goal in life, you could do worse than to take Carmella's as inspiration. The Staten Island seductress has a crave-worthy set which her mesh sports bra and low-waisted athletic pants show off perfectly. While I admit her abs def make my #Goals list, so does her cascade of honey curls...ogh SOOO gorge!! We've seen plenty of variations of Nikki's sporty gear and we've seen her nail these poses many a time. It's a credit to her and her abilities that there is still novelty to be discovered, especially in the rarer looking-sideways stance. Her complete vision of a fearless athlete representing #TeamNikki is clear now, all the way through the reliance on just three colors, as a sports team would. As simple as it is, it retains a freshness due to its trendiness and distinctiveness form what any other lady is doing and it keeps a formidable-meets-sexy aesthetic that resonates deeply with both Nikki's personality and all of us fans. The gallery highlights her glutes as an asset (no pun intended) and basically...well, yeah :) Who wouldn't want a caboose like Bella 2.0's? She's a curvy dream goddess come to life. *admiring sigh*
