The Lady Superstars took a varied approach to International Media Day, with style ranging from casual fierce to semi-formal. Nikki falls into the first category with this combination of a sequined navy bomber and leather pull-on shorts. I love the way she used the jacket as a top and zipped it to just the right height to show enough..but not too much. Also, I nearly always love me some sequins - especially when contrasted with less formal elements as Nikki does here. Suede OTKs finish off the styling. A much as I love OTKs, I can't help thinking that, viewed via this angle, I'd like to see how playing up the sporty vibe with sneakers instead would have worked out. Becky's look is straightforward: classic white tee, paired with black skinny jeans.. She adds a nice - an unexpected- dash of polish with a black suiting blazer and I love that she chose to go in that direction, instead of the more common classic leather jacket. Black high-top sneakers round off her look. Emma and Charlotte went a bit more formal with their outfits. Emma wore a jaw-dropping black dress embellished with grommet details that made a sexy, peekaboo pattern. I love the way this piece combines a daring, grungy attitude with a classic silhouette...and looks wicked cool in the bargain! This fantastic choice of Emma's is definitely a highlight for me. I wish we'd gotten to see her shoes, but I'm voting for black lace-up sandals. I'm a huge fan of Charlotte's look as well. This black romper melded trendy and feminine. The material is polished, but still flows so that it kisses her curves, which is a flawless look for her. The lace details at the shoulders break up the black and add subtle, but important visual interest. Charlotte completed the look with nude pointy toe pumps. No surprises on that choice, as they have been a fave of hers the last few months, but they complete this look in just the right way - with polish and fierceness!

The Royal Rumble set a high fashion standard, but the gals maintained it at the Elimination Chamber.
First, there was Becky’s continuing foray into gear with a hint of a femme twist. This set offers an iconic color story of black and beige, with a simple tank topping her frayed denim shorts. What brings distinction to the look is the broad band of gorgeous black lace that drapes across her torso. It’s so delicate that, at first glance, it almost seemed ragged to me, as if it was echoing the hem of her shorts. Even though it’s not, the similarity in texture unites the look, while still providing a beautiful and delicate contrast to the rugged grommetted leather at her knees. There’s a kind of broken-in, ragged romanticism to this look that I’m really enjoying: it’s stunning yet unforgiving, gorgeous, yet grounded. What a unique and intriguing statement from Becky and a wonderful show of growth and experimentation! Both Summer and Sasha worked with blue and orange as a combo in the past and I loved it. Equally well do I love the pairing of purple and orange, as worn by Nikki. The bright cantaloupe shade is warm and inviting and nearly glows with intensity. It looks amazing against her skin! The deep grape adds a flush of cool solidity to all that vibrancy and the effect is gorgeous! While I love her red, black and white variations, seeing her break into some new color combinations – especially such unique and yummy ones as this! – is incredibly fun! Alexa went for the classic color combo of red and blue with her gear. She added a nice little twist, though, by accenting the pairing with gold, which adds warmth and luxuriousness. I’ve been a fan of this design of her gear pretty much since it debuted and I’m still totally on board. The only thing I could do wthout is the cartoon appliquee at the front. Come on, girl – you’re not Bayley. There’s a way to bring in this kind of accent, but, set against a mature, fierce ring outfit like this, it just looks silly. It takes a really special vision and execution to use a lot of pattern and color and have it be cohesive. Naomi absolutely smashes the concept here! For starters, her romper silhouette is bang on trend. For seconders, her scrolled, mod print has the complex beauty of a Pucci piece, but done in light-up-the-world neons that give it a youthful energy and vitality that looks super hot! Lime, turquoise, lavender and cerulean make for a current and stunning color story, while the matching leg covers carry the look all the way to her feet, creating unity and impact. The layered chevrons are a flawless addition, creating a slight, but solid diversion from the print and working fabulously with her body shape to create a curvy hourglass. I love everything about this – as complex as it is, it’s put together perfectly, so it’s not busy or overwhelming, just powerful, mesmerizing and straight up AMZAZING! Mickie’s gear has been a wonderful mingling of ‘new and then’ :), pairing a halter top accented with a suitably Southwest-esque symbol and her always-favored flared-leg pants. Touches of colored stones accent the edges of both top and bottom. She’s done several color stories with this design, but I especially like the icy simplicity of this metallic silver, spiked with hints of emerald. If you’re needing a bikini fix here in the middle of the cold and snow, the ladies of WWE have been happy to oblige! Emma was smoldering in this strappy white number with its chevron front. The poolside setting did nothing but enhance the pristine beauty of her pose. Her dark nail brought a touch of edge to the shot which added a nice balance to the overall softness of the styling. This glamorous new Emma is totally gorge!
Mandy took a different approach to her equally summer-y shot. Her sun-kissed-beach setting was brightened by this neon bikini in a stunning shade of orange, popped with lime trim. I love bright colors for bikinis; this is exactly the kind of color combo I’d gravitate to. Consequently, I love it on Mandy. We’ve seen on Summer what an amazing color orange is for blondes and Mandy reinforces the conclusion. With her sunnies and sexy stance, she nails “beach babe”! On a more muted note was Lana’s warm sage choice. While the top is fairly standard, there seems to be a fun sheer detail at her hips, which adds an intriguing touch to a set that otherwise is unusual only for its color. I love how Lana went with bronzy, earth tones for her make-up palette; they complement the shade of her suit so well! Her hair is beautiful here as well – long and loose, with hints of salt-born waves, and pulled back just enough to stay out of her eyes when the wind blows. It’s beach flawless! The background of this snap – a retreating cavern that adds wonderful depth – is a highlight as well! She switches from intense, styled sexy to casual, breezy girl-next-door beauty with this make-up free snap. There, she paired a striped string top with simple navy bottoms. The look is breezy, classic and the shot feels laidback and “in the moment”. It’s an about face from her previous shot, but Lana looks just as stunning! Are you ready for a fashion blast? I can not even believe that I have so much catching up to do; would you think that there could be stuff from October I haven’t reviewed yet?! Omg. And we have all the exciting year end things this month too, lovelies. So, hang on to your stilettos because my plan is a giant, whirlwind catch-up which means tooonnnnnnnnsssss of fashion coming your way.
We’ll start it with Gail, who looks fierce and fab in this pretty pink dress, toughened up with a leather moto jacket. She gives it a trendy and casual touch with a scarf twisted at her neck and then ramps up the fierce quotient with mid-calf peeptoe booties. I love how Gail balanced the sweet, feminine of pink with strong, mature accessories. This combo feels confident and polished. She goes from strength to strength, as her next offering is this emerald green gown, chosen for this year’s SkyBall, an American Airlines fundraiser for military families at which her husband was cooking. This piece is a magnificent choice: the lattice-work details make is current and sexy, the sheer insets keep it classy and the color takes it over the top into an absolute smash! It’s an amazing shade on Gail and I hope we see her try more of it soon! Everything about this styling is flawless, including her sideswept hair. It’s so much fun seeing her completely nail a red carpet look! Pink was front and center a lot in October, as Lana reached for some during her trial of plaid. This is an unusual and vibrant variation of the classic and often mellow-colored pattern and it was a surprise to me to see it on Lana. It seems to be a sign of her more laidback tv aesthetic, also suggested by her long and loose hair style. I’m on board with the hair for sure; the jury’s still out on the plaid ;) Mandy made us look twice with this Instagram shot, which paired a sporty cropped v-neck tee, bedecked with black graphic accents, with a leather mini skirt. OTK boots completed the ensemble. There’s a lot that great about this look: the classic color combo, the athletic-meets-fierce vibe, the play on knit vs. smooth texture. Between the deep v and the super-short skirt, though, Mandy’s pushing the sexy on all fronts. It’s a bit too much for my taste; I’d tend toward choosing one or the other, as it’s very easy to get into trashtastic territory when you’re skimming so close to that line. With a knee-length skirt (and shorter boots) or a higher neck cropped top, this look would be more balanced. As ubiquitous as chokers are getting at the moment, I like Mandy’s use of it here; it helps to harmonize the look. How about this killer shot from Emma? She has been tearing it up lately during her time off for an injury, so stick around for a bunch more amazing snaps from her. In the meantime, I am loving this square-studded long-sleeved crop top paired with boy shorts –this is about as sexy as workout wear gets!! Give me studs I promise you, I will get waaaay more serious about gym time! ;) Emma’s pose is slayage overdrive. Her hair is on point. The black-on-black color palette, echoed by her dark nails, has a bring-it-on attitude that’s just flawless (and motivating!) for weights, cardio or what have you. The amazing pic is one of the first teasers of Emma’s makeover into Emmalina, an athletic vixen with a very old-school diva vibe – a blend of sex and athleticism. If this is typical of the style of girlfriend’s new persona, Emmalina’s fashion is going to eclipse Emma’s in no time. One fabulous thing about WrestleMania is that we get GEAR...so, all of us gearheads can sleep happy for a few days :). There was a lot more floating around Wm than the couple we got to see in the photoshoot WWE released, so let's break all that down, shall we?
Alicia Fox's gear is awesome. Hands down. It's one of the simpler sets in terms of color, as she went with a black monochrome look. But that minimalist choice is a flawless choice to set against this complex, creative and mad cool design! It's a leather brassiere-style halter, but with multiple straps radiating down and outward, some flowing into bold shoulder pieces that create the effect of a cap sleeve. She added some fierce intrigue to this via a mesh underlayer that plays peekaboo beneath the brassiere and then turns into leather-trimmed sleeves. Wowza; this top is super HAWT! Leather shorts and knee boots, paired with leather knee pads) complete the look. The grunge-meets-Bad-Blood vibe is killer and I like the restraint Foxy showed in her choices. The one slight thing I might have liked would be a tiny bit of embellishment (I'm thinking a sprinkling of hardware), considering the importance of WrestleMania as an event. Overall, though, this gear is slammin'! I've been a fan of Paige's bustier+ shorts combo for a long time and she has rocked some jaw-dropping gear at WM. This year, though, felt kind of "meh". I'm not often a huge fan of camo and this gear did little to encourage me to reverse that opinion. The stud accents should have given it a big kick, but they get somewhat lost in the camo pattern (closer pic below). I think they might actually have stood out better against solid black fabric. I wouldn't mind seeing an upgrade to the fishnets/knee socks/army boots too. They don't improve this look, which is a shame, because the right combo could and should. Oh well. Some gears slay and some gears just lay and we just gotta roll with it. Still love ya, Paige! Eva's crossed halter and shorts combo is essentially her trademark gear. The cool thing about this is the red-over-nude lace she chose as a fabric. It looks fab and it's cray sexy, as is her wont. It's a wonderful canvas for a gear. Since this is Wrestlemania, though, it's a perfect time to surprise and delight us with some kind of tweak or twist or curveball. I wish she had made an additional attempt to make this ensemble a bit more special. The same could be said for Brie, although it's more understandable in her case, since this was her final match. There's a practicality to looking good, without expending an insane amount of effort on something you won't wear for years...or ever again. And Brie did rock some serious fabulosity with her make-up. She and her teams went all out there; I couldn't resist including a close-up. How crave-worthy and glam is that eyeshadow?! I respect Brie's choice here; it was a smart play, even though we could possibly wish her last gear was something mesmerizing. This is a hallmark example of Bella style...and that's just how I want to remember Brie. First, let me register my displeasure that Natalya didn't get a set here. With that gear, it's a shame not to have the chance to get a closer look at it. However, WWE did give us the opportunity to appreciate the gear of a number of the divas, which is welcome because it's often a challenge to do more than get a quick overview in the excitement of the big event. It's super cool to get the chance to really savor the amazing gear that accompanies the splendor and hoopla that is Wrestlemania.
For example, Lana's gear begins with a classic piece: the trench, which she gives a futuristic vibe to, via the holographic graphite-and-purple fabric. It then gets an infusion of glam through the addition of sequin-encrusted epaulets. But the amazingness doesn't stop there! The piece then receives the royal treatment: a train fit for a queen. The piece made a massive impact during her entrance, and with good reason! From there, she disrobed into a smoky purple bodysuit, which melded a sequined brassiere with jaw-dropping crystal-embellished floral embroidery. This piece isn't merely glam and functional, with 'sexy' incorporated tangentially; it breaks new ground with its boudoir feel, emphasizing the sultriness over anything else. It's practical too, but that feels like an afterthought. This entire outfit is a showstopper! She finishes it with edgy-classic leather OTKs, a killer high ponytail and lavender lips - a risky shade that often looks a bit odd, but which works here brilliantly, echoing the color of her gear, while still being credible and beautiful, as opposed to shocking or comical. Clearly, Lana knows how to utterly OWN the fashion side of the ring. And her poses? Well...Maryse, you have some competition. Alright Fashion Fanciers...grab yourself a long, tall, hot cup of your favorite joe and strap in. We're going to analyze, adore and dissect to within an inch of it's glittering life the red carpet fashion that made us say "ooo", "aahhh" , "ooohh" and "djfefoacpokrpgknxsal". My usual disclaimer applies: hairs have been split. Miniscule fashion choices have carried immense weight due to the need to determine placings. Understand: I root my keister off for each of these girls to slay every time out. I want it to happen. I crave it. Further, I believe, I know all of them can. It's just a question of who does it when. So, who did it last Saturday night? The 2016 Hall Of Fame Fashion Review is awaiting the sound of the starter's gun. Let the counting commence!
The Ever So Fine Eva Marie: Our favorite redhead for sure has the kind of body that can rock a gown like this! And I give her huge props for wearing a white dress that doesn't look like a wedding gown. Nextly, cutouts are amazing! They can look so modern, sexy and fierce. But I also think they require some restraint, especially for a formal event. A Maxim 'shoot is one thing; this is the Hall Of Fame. This dress seems to push the risqué a bit too far for the classiest event of WWE's year. The formal up-do was a bright spot, helping to balance that, and the crystal statement necklace was a highlight as well. Set against a subtler statement, they would have made this look a winner. Emma: I love the way this gown shifted colors in the light from amethyst to wine red. There's a lot of flash and drama combined here, between the large sequins and sheer insets; it's a bit busy and comes off more brazen than intrepid. The effortless, flowing hairstyle was an excellent choice, helping to counteract all the shine. The small gold clutch functions similarly and works well. Paige: This black gown is a triumph of minimalism, depending on the deep-v front for it's visual impact. The only strike against it is that it is the same one she wore at the Oscars and, in a contest this close (as the HoF count-up *always* is!), that carries weight. Her choker is a trendy and fabulous choice. I do wish she had added a gemstone ( I'm imagining a statement-size garnet) to it; the simplicity of the dress would have benefitted from such an elevation. But these are split hairs. Her one unforgiveable choice was the flat thong sandals. Oh, Paige. You mock me :'(. As always, the could-have-beens are heart and gut-wrenching. Would a pair of studded, strappy heels (I'd even take chunky heels) really have been so impossible? Sasha: This black woven gown was a very appropriate choice for the event - chic and modern. I love her silver crystal clutch - it's clean and glamorous and brings a bit of needed flash to the black dress. Props also for the crystal bracelet. Anyone who knows me knows I love a good statement necklace so it will doubtless surprise you that I think I actually would have preferred something a bit more refined here - a slim, but sparkly or strong silver lariat comes to mind - to elevate without overdramatizing. This is a nice job for a red carpet firstie; I expect great things from Sasha as she continues to hone and evolve her style. |
