The Lady Superstars (Divas ;)…sorry, but we are diva-fierce, ya know!...were definitely on their fashion game this year! It was tough to pick three…so tough, in fact, that it was necessary to name an Honorable Mention. Having gone through the excruciating process of narrowing it down to three (ok, four :)) top contenders, it was even harder to figure out the placement. But, it has been done. The fait is accompli. So, without further stress or ado, behold: Honorable Mention: Alexa Alexa hasn't really made her full impact on the main roster yet, but she's sure made an impact on us with her fashion! Unlike many of the ladies, who find a signature silhouette and stick with it for an era or so, Alexa shifts from look to look: square neck, halter with lace inset, strappy crop top. What makes that philosophy especially exciting is that she handles all of them with competence! She goes pop-sporty with her pink tiger-claw-marked gear and nails it, gets sexy glam with her purple lace attire (sprinkled with crystals! <3) and slays and then transitions to modern rocker with her strappy studded gear (in fab colors from Bella-inspired red-and-black to magical orange with black and silver) and leaves us in awe. I'm thoroughly impressed that a lady who is so new has such a solid command of what looks amazing...and I'm totally fired up to see where she takes us next! #3: Alicia Fox Foxy has long had a flair for crave-worthy gear and this year is no exception. She actually created two signature looks, metamorphosizing her pared-down, clean-lined triangle-top+boy-shorts Team Bella style into and even fiercer variation. I loved the simple power of her gear during her "third Bella" run: the sheer insets, the hints of crystal, the minimal but bold color palette, the subtle "F" motif: it all worked brilliantly! Her black patent-look set with it's border of clear, glittering crystal was a highlight look, uniting darkness, edge and glam under one very Foxy banner! Just when I thought I was in heaven, she took things up yet another notch, turning the triangle top into a sheer-sleeved mockneck cropped top, slashed to allow transparent fabric or skin to show through. The layers create wonderful dimension and the mix of fabrics - the juxtaposition of wispy sheer with textured leather (sometimes with a bit of shine for good measure) - worked flawlessly. I loved the unusual taupe and copper color combo and the athletic toughness of the black open-weave mesh version she wore at Wrestlemania, but the look truly came into it's own with the red variation. This design is not onlt completely functional in-ring, but also gorgeous, modern and completely unique. Brava! #2: Charlotte Charlotte's initial forays into her gear were more than enough to get on her radar. She experimented with a variety of styles in NXT and came up to the main roster with a glam-meets-romantic confection of brightly colored laced, liberally sprinkled with crystals. The rich colors and glitter made her stand out, whether she chose a simple halter top or her later variation, which added extra (and super-sexy!) straps in a 'V' formation. Her lavender gear was the first indication that she wouldn't be afraid to try out colors the other ladies tended to shy away from. She continued that with the debuted of her re-vamped silhouette at Wrestlemania: a cerulean set, which combined a bustier top and shorts - both with a dovetailing chevron design - accented with black piping and a Swarovski-warehouse's-worth of clear crystals. That alone would have been enough to get this shine-loving fashionista's heart racing, but Charlotte didn't stop there; she completed the look with a pair of showstopping crystal flowers, set front and center. They immediately brought to mind to the glamorous floral accents which took over the spring runways. A silver-lined and bedazzled cape accompanied the ensemble. If her first looks were attention-getting, this one stopped us in our tracks. This was a ring outfit truly fit for a women's champion and the Queen of the Lady Superstars! She subsequently debuted red-and-gold and aqua-and-amethyst versions of the style with equal success. Charlotte's designs echo her famous father's flamboyance, but with touches of unexpected beauty and artistry. Adding surprise and elegance to color and sparkle is a sure way into our stylish hearts! Kudos, Charlotte! #1: Natalya
After several years of top+pants or shorts silhouettes, Natalya moved into using The Bodysuit..and a fashion star was restored to her rightful place in the style heavens. These variations were Not. Just. Any Old Bodysuit. They combined ultra-modern, mad sexy sheer insets in funky, eclectic shapes, ranging from block to diamonds to swirls. Working within her favorite pink, black and white palette, she proceeded to slay our world with stunning variation after stunning variation: scalding, trucker-esque flames, delicate bedazzled scrolls, rockstar-worthy lattices (set over sheer panels in a leather bodice, lined with crystals...oh my!), metallic pink stripes swirling upwards around leg-revealing transparent sections (and completed by a pink crystal push-up bra! asydftvyfeybrefsbdhflgtm. ...!!!). Chic and opulent elbow-length arm-covers added one more shot of fierceness (it's amazing, when I stop to think about it, that we all survived witnessing these looks :)) Picking a favorite is nearly impossible. ...Nearly;). I can't help having a special place in my heart for her pinnacle piece from Wrestlemania. Natalya noted the Versace inspiration (see below) behind the design on her Instagram (if you want to incapacitate me completely, by all means keep doing your own glamorous take on sexy, luxe couturiers' style! ;)) That gear incorporated not only seductive, sheer sections in daring patterns, but criss-crossing cage-like straps emblazoned with double rows of jewels AND (not done yet!) finished off with a pair of silver medallions. It was a creation par excellence which, frankly, I'm still not over. Nattie's gear this year has been tidal wave after tidal wave of couture-drenched fabulosity...all of it so amazing you forget the fact that she needs to, can and does actually wrestle in it as well. These ensembles are nothing short of brilliant; simply, they are wearable euphoria. Given that, how could Nattie be anything other than the golden girl in this year's Ring Gear Awards? Congratulations, Natalya! * Huge massive congrats and praise as well to everyone who did the cutting, patterning, sewing and bedecking of all these looks! Thank you for you hard work and for sharing your talents with these ladies and, by extention, with us! Diva-Fierce.com salutes you!
