Spring brought us a look at Katarina’s style for her return to Impact. This simple, sexy biker-chick look takes me back the accessible, straightforward attitude of her days as Katie Lea Burchill in WWE. The leather vest paired with black skinny denim and knee-high boots appears to be very much in Katarina’s comfort zone. I love how she threw in a sporty touch with her baseball cap; it’s a great way to update this look! We saw her push the envelope in a lot of fun ways as Winter, exploring gothic fashion. I’d love to see her use that same creativity as she evolves her street style. Gail was looking as gorgeous as ever as she spent time with husband Robert Irvine. The magnificent plum hue makes this dress an immediate standout, and the cutaway at the bust only heightens the effect. I absolutely love this shade on Gail! Although she chose it for spring, it would be equally at home now, paired with other jewel tones – teal or gold spring to mind! Lana was out and about in April wearing a fierce combination of a black crop top and red latex pencil skirt. I love the way the red and latex take this simple pairing and kick it into overdrive! The latex makes a major statement and Lana carries it off flawlessly. If shining plastic seems a little of your wheelhouse (with you!), try a less bold textural contrast: suede, velvet, corduroy, or a floral print. Pro tip: the ctop isn’t crucial to making this work – any slim fitting top will do nicely. Lana added a gold pendant and completed the look with black ankle strap sandals that have my 100% approval. She literally shone at the ACM Awards in a metallic gold gown by Anya Leisnick! It definitely did not follow the legs or décolleté rule, as it combined an on-trend thigh-high slit with a daring plunge neckline. This could easily get over-the-top, but Lana wisely kept the rest of the styling simple – I love love her stud earrings and tiny pendant! – and that, along with the single, cohesive fabric, allows this look to work. Her dark eyed+flushed cheek make-up look is one of my faves; that classic natural-kicked-up-a-notch vibe always looks amazing! Lana reprised the silhouette in a white midi dress, paired with strappy gold sandals and her shorter hair. The slightly less extreme neckline is more appropriate for day wear and brings a fresh sophistication to this rendition. I love how her black nails add punch to this much more pared-down look. I’m head over heels for this spring look from Alicia! She combines a cutout bodysuit in palest pink with pale beige chinos (major Fierce points for those! Sometimes, the jeans need a vacay ;)) and simple white sneakers. The soft colors and straight-leg chinos feel classic and chic, while the clean-lined bodysuit is all about the modern. The juxtaposition is fresh and flawless. Her cute cap tops it all and adds a jaunty, artsy touch. I love this look from head to toe – this is how you make a casual outfit exude personality! Michelle was backstage in NOLA sporting a black plunge-front bodysuit paired with black skinny jeans for the kind of plain canvas that makes me dream of a today-version of her LayCool grunge-glam style. She eschewed the statement jewel of then for an eclectic collection of baubletry, ranging from hoop earrings and a pair of gold pendants to a woven metal bracelet and a white statement ring. Rather than the focused fierceness I was hoping for, this feels a bit scattered. The plunge front feels a tad over-the-top as well, but I’m giving her a pass because I think its accentuated by the camera angle. The next shot gives us an idea of what a softer touch would do, as she tops it all with a custom patched denim jacket that gives the outfit Le Thing that was missing by toning down the effect of the bodysuit and adding an interesting focal point. My only regret here is that we don’t get to see her shoes…I’m betting on (read: “obsessively daydreaming about”) fabulous ankle booties! Nia gives us a fantastic look in this spring snap, pairing a classic LBD with bold ankle-strap sandals. There’s something about this combo that is always just so right! I love the strong lines of her shoe choice: they anchor the look and create the bold statement that gives this look consequence. I also love the light-colored jacket she tossed on top: it’s a perfect pay on proportion that brings additional visual interest. Nicely done! It’s looking more and more like we’ll be able to enjoy some of Laurel’s work again, this time with WWE fairly soon. In the meantime, we can enjoy her summer fashion: this classic knit dress topped with a deim jacket and white sneakers gives me total 90’s nostalgia! This uncomplicated but fab warm-weather pairing transitions nicely to fall/winter with a quick swap of boots for sneaks and a wool coat for the denim jacket. And ya might as well add a flannel shirt too and get aallll of that 90’s vibe :). Laurel’s ring gear has always had a bold, clean look to it and this silver-and-black pairing follows that trend. The straightforward look draws a lot of inspiration from circa 2011 Bella Twins, but it works well despite that. I’m hoping the ‘E will be able to give Laurel the freedom (and budget! :)) to develop her well-chosen looks into something unique to her.
Spring found McKenzie trying out the jumpsuit trend. Girlfriend gave the denim piece a fierce twist by completing it with pointy toe lace-up ankle booties. Like, BAM. That’s way to crank up denim for night! Her next look paired ultra-flared printed pants with a cropped choker-neck top that featured a sheer inset. This might be one of the first McKenzie looks I’m kind of “meh” about. Even the pointy boots aren’t quite enough to bring the 70’s-inspired bottoms into modernity and the top consequently feels a bit mish-mashy. Oh well. It’s such a rare miss for her that I’m sure we can all take it in stride. Right? Am I right? *Runs off to burn all flared pants* …Just kidding. I’m fine :). She’s back on her game with her next outfit: a rib-knit dress from Agaci in a glorious royal blue. The floral booties were an amazing touch, adding color, surprise and a jolt of fun to this simple piece. Her braided hair-band is beyond gorgeous. And just like that, I’m reminded why Kenzie is one of my perpetual fashion faves! :)
