I can’t resist the buoyant spirit of this spring look from Alicia, which pairs a black tulle skirt with a multi-glittered star-embellished tank. The dark main hue prevents the look from feeling too youthful or silly; instead, it comes off quirky and fun! With the shot’s forest backdrop and her free-spirited pose, Foxy reminds me of a modern sprite, frolicking about in her woodland home. This kind of expressive risk-taking is something I absolutely adore about her style! From there, she swings into 70’s summer style, pairing cut-off jean shorts first with a graphic tank and leather vest and then with a caramel patched and fur-trimmed one. In each case, she add interest to the mix with a colorful printed silk scarf and layers of accessories: multiple pendant necklaces, oversize sunnies, a statement ring. Her reading of the genre feels both authentic and modern at the same time – a real fashion feat! She follows the current trend loosely, but her personal sense of artistic expression predominates and here, as elsewhere, it keeps me endlessly fascinated and appreciative. I particularly love her layering of accessories, as that aspect of the look could easily translate to other genres, from boho, to minimalist to being the twist in a classic look. Foxy gave us several snaps of this fantastic, futuristic mosaic dress in Instagram, just prior to Wrestlemania, leading me to wonder if this piece was her original choice for the Hall Of Fame. I loved the saturated color and sophisticated vibe of her green suit, but this dress would have been a showstopper as well! I would have loved to see where she took the styling of this: letting the dress stand out against simpler accessories, or a full-on push into the maximalist 80s with iridescent shoes and jewels…or somewhere uniquely Foxy-esque, which I can’t even conceive of but would doubtless have loved. Lana embraced the check trend this spring in a crisp navy and white blocked coord set that paired a cropped top with high-waisted pants. This look has a fabulous, spare and classic vibe that gets a shot of modernity both from the silhouette and the pairing with bright white accessories In the form of her strappy sandals and ring-handled tote. This is a perfect melding of trendiness and chic. She reached for the white sandals again in her next look, which paired a deep-scoop-necked white bodysuit with striped wide-leg pants. This look doesn’t have the same sleek polish as the former one, but the casual ease of her flowing pants is appealing. Lana was precisely right in her instinct to pair them with a slim-fitting top; the paperbag-waist is a tricky look, but she pulls it off nicely. I’m totally in for the sporty-Americana vibe of her next look, a color-blocked polo dress which she paired with black leather peeptoe sandal-booties. Light pink lips and flowy hair keep the look laidback and down-to-earth. It’s a cool, gorgeous summer ensemble which could transition easily into fall with a quick swap of pointy-toe ankle booties for the sandal booties…and a black moto jacket tossed over the top :). Cathy attended NY Fashion Week this spring and gave us a couple peeks at her looks for the events. First up was a boldy pinstriped blue jumpsuit, which she paired with bright white ankle booties that accentuated both the pinstripes and the on-trend feel of the look. I think I would have preferred a sleek ponytail here, instead of her long-and-loose locks, to enhance the polished vibe, but I love the powerful exclamation point of her bright cranberry lip! It adds just the right punch of color to this ensemble. Her next offering was a stunning floral-embellished sheath dress. The unique Mandarin collar makes the piece especially distinctive. I also love the spare application of the flowers; by not being an all-over treatment, it keeps the dress very light and not busy, allowing the beauty of the florals to stand out. Cathy brought out the color of the roses with eye-catching red boots, a bold choice the upped the impact of the look dramatically. A caramel leather shoulder bag completed the look. Post-NYFW, we saw her go dark in this belted pinstriped wrap dress, which she paired with suede OTK boots. The look has a strong, powerful vibe which is only slightly tempered by te luxe texture of the suede. With her oxblood lips and smoky eye, it’s a far cry from the cheerful femininity of her previous outfit, but she pulls it off with equal confidence and success. Next, she takes a foray into sequins: the all-over shine of this copper mini dress. She a pairs it with silver pointy-toe pumps and while my own bent would have been toward a matte finish for contrast, the unexpected silver tone serves as a welcome foil to the focus-grabbing copper.
Foxy gave us one more outfit with her beloved denim cut-offs: a much more modern usage of the piece which paired them with a worded tank and a white military jacket. I love the mix of super-casual pieces with the more formal, hardware-embellished jacket. The mix feels so easy and so cool at the same time! It’s tough to tell from the angle of the snap, but it looks like she may have finished the look with mid-calf boots, which I would love. Ankle booties or casual (read “non-sport”-type ) sneakers would work nicely as well.
