Even though this snap was from the spring, it works pretty perfectly for right now, since we’re in the seasonal transition again. Barbie paired a cropped, striped sweater with cropped boyfriend jeans. Despite its superficial simplicity, the proportion play between the slim top and slouchy jeans gives this look a subtle complexity. I’m also loving the Hilfiger-esque vibes. Ankle strap sandals completed the ensemble as we went from winter spring. Right now, I’d complete it with ankle boots :). Barbie showcased mysterious, sensual vibes with this sheer-meets-geometric-lace confection she wore for a March event. She has a talent for pulling off the most daring looks and she slays this piece, looking both beautiful and edgy. A sleek up-do featuring a braided headband adds subtle interest, while giving the dress center stage. Simple black sandals round out the styling. How about these gold-sequin embellished jeans from Fashion Nova? Anyone would be tough to miss with all that glitter! :) With their slim fit and high shine, these have such a so-right now 80’s feel (*resists urge to sing “Stop! Hammer time!”*). Barbie smartly pairs them with the simplest of white tanks, which tempers their big, bold statement. Nude sandals follow suit. As the weather cools, the tank could be easily swapped over to a cream cable sweater to mimic the soft, bright color scheme, or an equally plain black turtleneck for a darker, luxe vibe. Barbie channels the 80’s again with this hot-pink and black bikini that proudly proclaims her “Barbie” status. I love that she embraces that! I also love how cool and fun this look is, with the color combo and the high side-ties. It walks the perfect line between throwback and of-the-moment. Lace-up sandal-booties complete the look with a welcome shot of fierceness. Brandi let her wild side loose in this red latex set! The material alone makes this peplum top and pencil skirt combo quite intrepid, and the scalding scarlet shade just ups the ante. Fortunately the rest of the styling is simple, with no extra embellishment and the scoop neckline is feminine without being bawdy, which keeps the look more toward the chic side of styling. Brandi intelligently completes the look with minimalist black leather OTK’s; the change in texture – to the smoothness of the leather from the high sheen of the latex – is a welcome counterbalance that makes this daring look work well.
I have thoroughly enjoyed Brandi’s continual development of her gear. She never lets the look get staid! Here, she added a high neckline, rimmed with studs and chosen a magnificent deep violet hue that looks gorgeous. Her cranberry lip echoes the jewel tone theme without being too matchy. Since this was back in the spring, I can justify her candy pink nails. For right now, I’d have loved to see keep the autumnal hues going with an eggplant or dark magenta tone. Brie used her post-pregnancy time to explore the casual side of her style more fully. We see the fruits of that in this look, which pairs destroyed medium-wash denim with a drapey blush tank. I love her choice to add a quirky, femme-grunge twist to the look with her floral combat boots, although I prefer heeled footwear with cropped pants of any ilk. She echoed that free-spirited vibe with a black fedora. I love how the creativity in this look and the resulting interest it generates, despite being so casual. Stellar fashion doesn’t have to be ballgowns or haute couture! She takes on the on-trend shirt dress in a classic black and white vertical stripe for her next look and again, the vibe of casual ease translates well. While Brie completed the look with black boots, I’d have leaned toward something a bit lighter here: white mules or black espadrilles would have kept the laid-back theme while also bringing in a summer-ready touch. Cathy nailed transitional dressing with this striped knit dress paired with white ankle booties. The bright colors are super fun and lend an on-trend 80s vibe to the look, keeping this classic almost-LBD look from being at all bland. The white footwear again picks up on a huge current trend, while also lightening the styling and making it warm-weather appropriate. The white trend appears to be staying strong through the fall, so this look could be borrowed as is for right-now. A classic variation could swap the white ankle booties for black ones of a similar silhouette. Mid-calf combat styles would throw an edgy twist into the styling, while colored velvet (think deep blue!) would be a daring but buoyant autumn alternative.
