Oh my holy goalness Maryse! The serial slayage continues. If that phraseology seemed equivocal to you, let me spell it out: I LOVE this look. I could totally wear this. Turtleneck sweater, pencil skirt, cropped statement jacket. BOOM. Chic. Gorgeous. Maryse can pull off the most daring, glamorous, dramatic styles, but seeing her cross over to her sophisticated side definitely set my lil' heart a flutter in a special way. Happy Valentines Day, right? :) The elegant buttons and gathered shoulders on her military-inspired jacket give it panache and modernity, with timeless appeal. That is how you do a statement jacket, lovelies! And Maryse finishes the look with a stunning exclamation point: her crimson velvet OTKs. We can just take a moment here and soak up the flawlessness. And the flawlessness does not stop with Maryse! I've been loving this latest era in Natalya's gear so much! It's just amazing. She blends leather and latex and sheer insets and crystal patterns in such incredible and beautiful ways! My favorites are unquestionably the black and crystal ones: the simple color scheme creates a ton of impact and glamour! In this particular variation, I'm drawn to the delicacy of the crystal placement. Placed at the edges of the silver sequin piping like this, it creates the lovely, feminine effect of a picot ribbon - just way sparklier ;)...and I love me some sparkle! With the clean geometric shapes of the leather panels, this gear has a modern, architectural feel, so the dainty texture makes a fabulous contrast, creating a harmony of strength and intricacy, toughness and glamour that's just divine. Ogh, so fab! Carmella is back to her winsome ways with this combo. Blue is a new shade for her, but this deep cerulean is stunning and the mesh fabric has just the right vibe for her sporty-urban persona. The stripe on her leggings ties the blue to her bottoms, as well as incorporating a touch of her trademark leopard print. She finishes the look with an of-the-moment black bomber that functions perfectly and super cute sneakers. So, basically, another winning look from the Staten Island Seductress and I'm lovin' it!
And we get a trio of looks from Stephanie and they're all about the black! Her first was from her visit to The Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier, a grave set on a hill in Arlington National Cemetery which honors the missing and unidentified dead from each of the major wars since World War I. Her black dress is designed around a collar-like "necklace" at which the cutout top of the dress is gathered. The effect is simple, but interesting, giving presence to this sheath dress. Steph enhances that with her leather OTKs and open coat. The latter makes the look a bit more demure, but also lends an appealing causal air to the styling. She represents minimalism at its height with her next outfit: a boxy sweater pairing with leather leggings and boots that create the look of the boot/pants that Karlie Kloss experimented with two years ago. I prefer Stephanie's much more functional interpretation. She also gets serious props for her sweater: if you're going to do a boxy silhouette, length is critical and the high-hip height of Stephanie's is spot on. It creates a visual waist at just the right place and is the key that makes this look come together. That being said, if she had decided to add a long necklace to this look, I could have handled it :). Lastly, we find Steph playing with proportion again, this time pairing a suit jacket we first saw back in May with leggings and ankle boots. Like her previous outfit, it's the styling and length of her top that give this look most of its panache. The strong silhouette of her blazer makes it the focal point and the longer length enhances that. Also noteworthy is the high stance on this jacket. The stance of a jacket denotes the placement of the waist-creating button. A higher one, like this, acts like an empire (ahm-peer) styling, which is fantastic for Stephanie: it lets the blazer flow outward from there to create an hourglass shape. Her skinny pants are a stellar choice to keep this look current, especially when we see how she completes it: with her studded Bryn peeptoe booties from Michael Kors! They are the perfect shot of fierceness to bring edge and attitude to this combination. She echoed the gold metal of the studs with a delicate necklace that catches the light intriguingly and adds a hint more shine.
