Still got more Lana-fashion for ya! This Queen's a style machine! At Fastlane, she rocked a velvet double-breasted dress, which she paired with shimmering, futuristic OTK's. The double-breasted style can get overwhelming if it's paired with a lot of other elements, so I love this design's simplicity. The silver OTKs are edgy and probably wouldn't have been my first choice to pair with this dress, but I think Lana pulls it off. The coordinating choker helps and her audacity and confidence carry it through. That being said, I love those boots in an of themselves and would ADORE them in an editorial context. Their unflinching Space-Age beauty would be flawless in a galactic setting. She was back to red for this next look, a lovely cranberry bodycon dress. She get props for the mid length, as well as for pairing it with one of my favorite contrasting-genre toppers: a tough leather jacket. The red and black combo works as fabulously as it always does - #IconicForAReason. Next, she gives us two looks with this cold-shoulder choker-style top by Topshop. She makes it travel-ready in look #1 by pairing it with flared leggings and a fur duster. I really enjoy how Lana's style is rarely boring; even when she's being practical and comfortable, she still manages to inject panache and flair into her style. This statement duster really puts the exclamation point on this monochrome look. Outfit #2 pairs the tops with printed high-waisted pants from House of CB. I love the laidback -but thoroughly chic! - vibe of this look. The print is interesting but not busy and harmonizes nicely with the simple trendiness of her top. An oversize watch finishes the look with a hint of precisely (and perfectly) chosen sophistication. Mandy said she felt like a Spice Girl in these pants from Fashion Nova and while I recall the five girl-power driven ladies to have gravitated toward the wider and flared styles of the 90's, they would most definitely have appreciated the independent, true-to-self spirit of these cargo track pants. I love the way the sheen of the fabric makes it easy to elevate them to something beyond workout-wear. Mandy's cropped tank is sexy and appropriate, but it's her chunky-heeled ankle straps that direct the vibe of this look to something playful and modern - a kind of sporty, downtown cool that works really well for her. I love that this look explores the fashion more than highlighting her body; it makes a wonderful and intriguing insight into her actual sense of fashion and the thought process behind it, something which always fascinates me. Her next snap caught my attention for a few reasons. We've seen plenty of bikini shots from Mandy, but this one plays with color in a more intricate way then some of the others, with the purple background lighting brilliantly coordinating with the plum-toned sections of her bikini. I also like the unusual design of this swimsuit, with the chevron fabric detail attached above the basic side-tie bottom style; it looks super-cool! Mandy rocks the Hel-sinki out of this pose, giving the snap just that much more intensity. And my favorite part of the whole thing is her half up-do. With the poofed front, this style looks unbelievably gorgeous on her and she totally needs to wear her hair this way much more often!
In my Inspiration Board post, I mentioned how much I love Maria's interpretation of the track suit craze. She takes it out of the realm of sport with this boxy, feminine lace top. The contrast, both of texture and genre, give this look a fashion-blogger vibe that just slays me. So fab! The black keeps it cool and classic and her hair looks aaaaahhhmazing. I basically maje heart everything about this. Yeppers. If the tack pant look blended sport-chic and femme, this next look is about sport and glam! Maria paired a glittering sequined lips-logo tee with leggings and topped it with a suitably rock n' roll leather jacket. Sneakers provided the shift into the athletic side of the styling. She gets fierce points for picking up the hot pink shade of the logo with her ankle socks - so cute! And I love the way it carries the color all the way through the outfit :). Her last look is classic Maria: channeling grunge-glam with a brassy attitude, as she pairs skinny jeans with a color-block suede jacket. She layered a tone-on-tone leopard tank underneath - girlfriend always did love her cat prints :). Wedge booties finished the look with a splash of urban toughness, while her sequined newsboy cap - OMG do I LOVE that!! - provided a jaunty, fierce twist that shows Maria's inventive fashion philosophy. Even thought there are a number of elements here (leopard, sequin, suede, color-block, wedges), they all meld fabulously. It's a 101 course in uniqueness, personal style and the way the right elements can look amazing when they're selected with attention and a true enjoyment of style.
