Inspiration Board: Barbie - Silver Flash

Black with hints of silver has always been one of my favorite color stories.The metallic flash brings an icy, cool vibe to black, whether it's shaded to the rocker, glamorous or futuristic genres. Barbie's mod-thletic look gets a next-gen spin from the pieces' metallic lace-up cuff details and her mirrored silver pumps. If you're brave enough to go for the crop-top+leggings, this is a look that's easily re-created. Even a tied-high tee will work, albeit with an 80's-Madonna nod. Pick or DIY your cropped top, add your leggings and silver heels and bippidy-boppidy-poof: you've got the magic. The caveat is that, outside of a photoshoot and a few other sexy-meets-mod/fierce occasions, your options for places to wear this look just as it is are likely to be fairly limited. So, let's make it a tad more life-friendly, shall we? ;)  Swap the crop top for a tank/bandeau/tube top/corset and top it with a an open-weave poncho. The look will equal Barbie's for chic, but will have additional movement and depth due to the see-through effect of the weave. A black mesh pullover sweater would be an alternate option and would enhance the athletic feel. Or, keep the crop top and switch up the pants. Instead of leggings, go all Selena Gomez and do harem/jogger pants. (Hint: feel free to swap the heels for sneakers on this version, if that floats your ducks). Still not getting your fires...uh...firing? :) K. Keep the leggings and the heels. Drop the crop top and the poncho/sweater. Go for a tunic top instead. Note: the 90's-darling asymmetric hemline is wooing fashionable hearts everywhere right now, so def consider going that route! Finish with a shot of silver baubletry: a cuff bracelet (or two ;) or bold pendant necklace would do the trick. Like Barbie's look, the tunic over leggings (*can also be done with skinny jeans) is a mix of simple elements...spiked with just the right splash of cool metal.
