I love the way Becky elevated this simple tee and jeans pairing so easily and effectively by topping it with this intriguing floral bomber! Jackets are one of my favorite – and one of the simplest!- ways to turn an outfit from “something I just threw on” into style. This one has a quirky blend of femininity from the flowers and sportiness due to the stripes. It’s such a strong and fun statement that it immediately gives weight to the look and it touches on the crucial floral trend without being all fancy. It’s simple enough to re-create: boxy tee and slim blue denim (distressed works, un-distressed also works; pick your passion!)create the backdrop. Gray makes a versatile alternative to Becky’s choice of white and keeps the look lighter overall. I would def be on board for doing this with moodier dark tones as well: charcoal, navy, forest green, wine. If you’re shivering just looking at a t-shirt, try this with a sweatshirt (even a hoodie ;)) or an oversize thermal to maintain the super-chill vibe. Or, go with a cable sweater for a nod to the oh-so-trendy 80’s. The floral print has my deep love and appreciation at the moment, but the casual ease of this ensemble can take other directions: play on texture by choosing a quilted topper, enhance the sporty feel with a classic varsity-inspired piece or let your whimsy loose with an animal-embroidered jacket. Since it’s officially fall, finish the look with ankle booties: a chunky-heeled lace-up with a military/moto vibe gives this an edgy grunge twist (and acts as a counterweight to any sweet florals), while a classic jodphur (pron: jahd-per) boot evinces laidback refinement. Do it Becky’s way and ditch the baubles. But feel free to add a leather backpack or a chain-handled crossbody for carrying all your necessary flotsam and jetsam ;). Happy styling!
