With the weekend coming up, I thought it was time to explore a super cute, seriously casual style ;). With casual outfits, it's really important to get the right mix of elements - literally make or break! Do it right and you exude casual cool. Do it wrong and you end up with "meh" or even "bleh". Yikes. So, let's take a cue from Brie on how to do it right. She starts with a classic white tee. It's hard to find one these days that's not see-through (pet peeve of mine! I know a plethora of celebs do the sheer thing, but in "real life", it's just not classy, unless it's done in a very specific way), but girlfriend above proves it's possible ;). (Aside: a nude bra that's similar to your skin tone will hide more effectively than most other colors. A pale, heathered fabric is next best). As I am (as previously mentioned) a stain magnet, I might go for a more forgiving soft gray. I love Brie's sleeveless, short-V-neck style, but a cap sleeved or scoopnecked piece will work too. A curve-kissing full-length tee will be the most versatile, but you can tie it to shorten it to a cropped length, like Brie's. Pair it with distressed skinny denim for a city-girl vibe. Cropped is good, rolled will do ;). You want it at a height that shows a flash of ankle. Top the look with a wardrobe-staple denim jacket. Finish with pristine white sneakers. (Or, do a bright color instead for a fun, bold pop.)The whole look is a combo of non-flashy pieces, but the right cuts and silhouettes make it look like something you put together with stylish intent, as opposed to just grabbing whatever was on your floor. Not that I have ever done that. Ever. Nope. And that's all I'm saying *winning smile*. Simplicity also gets a little nudge in fashionable directions from accessories. Brie used a long chain and a pair of turquoise statement rings to give an organic flair to her look, in keeping with her boho spirit. Few stones convey the earth goddess feel as well as turquoise! But if blue isn't your thing, consider red jasper or a similar non-sparkly stone. Alternatively, layer a number of thin band rings on various fingers, knot a bandana at your wrist or add a statement belt with studs, a stamped/etched pattern or an interesting weave. Little details bring character to your look and let you slay with (apparently ;)) careless ease. Hope this inspires your style this weekend or sometime soon! XO
