Inspiration Board: Brooke, Brie, Renee - Earthy Denim

Divas doing denim are everywhere lately, it seems! While it's a classic fabric by now, denim goes through phases of what's hot and the blues are the current rage. A wide range of pieces are trending, including some really fun and unusual shapes, such as Renee's denim romper or Brooke's workman-like overalls. Brie's pantsuit is a killer silhouette as well, especially styled with her famous boho flair. You can also get the essence of the divas' looks with pieces that are already in your closet. I love the idea of recreating Brie's pantsuit by pairing a denim buttondown with bootcut jeans. Mix two different -but coordinating- denim blues, such a dark wash top and light wash bottoms. Carry the boho vibe with a tie belt in leather or suede. You can use a scarf as well: think bandana print or a frayed-edge solid in any earthy brown hue. Gladiator flats finish this look with casual cool. Alternatively, try embracing the 70's trend via denim by pairing a classic workshirt with wide leg flares. Again, choose two different washes to bring more visual interest. Finish the styling with structured shoes - think chunky-heeled sandals or platform ankle straps- and an earth-goddess-esque necklace (feathers, tassels, or a pile of dusty-hued beads). Or, you can do things Brooke's way and match your denim blush tones. I've imagined this done with an 80's flair, using skinny jeans and a denim tunic. Work the blush via your accents: rose gold earrings, a printed scarf or pale pink belt and soft pink pointy toes - flats or heels. On the flip side, neon pink was an 80's color du jour, so if you're into the brights, indulge in them! This look would work just was well with an intense color for shoes and/or scarf.
