The Over River and Through Woods 'shoot had a bunch of amazing looks, including this one from Lana. The je ne se quoi factor here comes from the interplay between busy-as-a-bee intarsia knit and a smooth, sleek pencil skirt in a cool neutral. Deep reds, ranging from barn red to mulberry, are really gorgeous paired with gray. The contrast between the burning red and the chilled, steely shades is really beautiful. This could also be done with a number of jewel tones, including amethyst, saffron, even pumpkin. So, if you have one of those wildly printed sweaters buried somewhere in your closet, dig it out! :) Another option would be to use a chunky knit sweater in a solid color and layer a printed tee under it. That's a perfect way to tweak this look for super-cold days where you don't want to be exposing a lot of skin to the elements...ya know - for those of us who have to leave our cozy cabin now and again for petty things like work, school and shopping...maybe even a date :). The pencil skirt shape really elevates this look. You could go with either a mini or a midi length, depending on your preference. Lana finished her look off with oh-so-on-the-trend-radar mules, but polished casual ankle boots - think chunky heel done in leather or suede - would work just as well. Hope this inspires you! XOs
