Inspiration Board: Maria - Plaid Season

I admit – I hold on to summer as long as I can, but once the weather switches over, I get on board for autumn staples quickly! I don’t tend to do a lot of plaid in summer, but since I’m nearly always cold, I LOVE my plaid flannels in the winter. They’re pieces I can’t wait to excavate and add back into my wardrobe mix!  Maria broke out some plaid in a super fun ‘shoot from her WWE days which can definitely serve as inspiration for an upcoming outfit. She paired pedal-pusher leggings with her red plaid top in a classic combination of red and black. She brings the fierce hard by completing the look with strappy pumps and a coordinating plaid newsboy cap. Autumn might be a touch cool for the pedal-pushers, depending on your location, but no prob: start this look with slim or straight denim or leggings instead. Top it with your favorite red (or red-included) plaid/flannel shirt. So far, so easy. Next, add a fun or quirky twist to the look. Wear a newsboy cap, like Maria, or a fedora, or add a cute cropped vest. Throw a scarf around your neck, try a statement belt or a bold necklace, such as a metal collar – smooth metal is stunning against the complexity of plaid. It’s all about whatever creates that perfect pop, the piece that puts the exclamation point on this casually stylish look. Complete the outfit with flat knee-high boots ( I especially love this pairing with leggings – it has an off-duty fashion-blogger feel), chunky-heeled ankle boots for laidback chic or pointy-toe pumps for a Maria-esque shot of fierceness.
