I love the way this super-cute flared skirt of Maria's has a very proper, schoolgirl-ish feel! This look can be soooo much fun to riff on, especially with the weather warming up - shorter skirts suddenly sound like a good idea again :). Pair this one Maria's way - with black (I'd go with a turtleneck or mockneck as my first choice) - or choose an equally life-is-just-a-classroom-ready white buttondown. The main variant to this look is your shoe pairing and there are plenty of options. Maria went with fierce and fabulous sandals to make this look cray glam - a kind of late 2000's version of Clueless's Cher. An equally appropriate styling would be classy t-straps for a polished, chic vibe. Then again, you could play the character to the hilt and go with updated loafer flats for a 60's British-prep look. Cool and careless black Converse shift this pairing into 90's grunge. You could even throw in a modern, trendy-minimalist spin and go with a peeptoe block-heeled sandal. So many options, right?! Shoes are just amazing, aren't they? Well, that... and the fact that the schoolgirl look is so classic that a ton of decades showcased a version of it both make this a style with a thousand faces. Keep the baubletry simple: a fun watch and stud earrings - pearls if you're classy, spikes if you're daring, color if you're playful, flowers if you're whimsical. Your homework: do the schoolgirl some time;) Happy fashioning!
