Apparently the only way WWE now knows how to do fun summer 'shoots is via galleries. Gone are the halcyon days of Summer Skin and similar extravaganzas. Summer delights are consigned to the Big Dub's version of #TBTs and bikini "shoots" culled from the ladies' own Instagrams. And then , there are the re-hashes. They've literally released the same pic of Barbie/Kelly three times. I love Barbie as much, or perhaps significantly more than, the next wrestling fan, but even I draw the line at getting the same snap in multiple recycled galleries. What especially annoys me about this is that, in addition to being a distinctive letdown to the fandom at large, it shortchanges the lady superstars. There are a few pics interspersed here that are new and they show talent ready and waiting to be utilized in full, focused spreads. These ladies have got the style, the look, and the camera savvy to impress us and send thrilling shivers through our fashion universe; what are ya waiting for, WWE?
This shot of Maryse gives us the chance to view her gold sequin statement coat close-up, as well as savor her pairing it with a sheet inset bodysuit and shorts. As much as I loooove the fierceness of the bodysuit alone, the shorts feel fresh to me and I'm thrilled by the op to enjoy the combo. I also adore the collar necklace! And, naturally Maryse rocks the pose. Carmella also gets a shot or two to show off her New York-influenced style. This gear is an instant hit in my book. It takes advantage of the high impact of the black and white trend, done in an athletic silhouette. The basic premise is straightforward and strong, but a few little touches make it uniquely Carmella's...and all of them have attitude! The leopard lining of her leather jacket, the unabashed "Fabulous" statement across her top and the band of bling all bring a streetwise confidence to her look. And she nails the pose! I would be head over stilettos for a full 'shoot from Renee with this outfit. She's tossed a super cool floral bomber jacket over leather skinny pants and likely a tee/tank of some kind. The way the florals soften the jock-ish vibe of the bomber is amazeballs. Ditto the way the print plays against the tough-chic feel of her leggings. I'm envisioning this look completed with black pointy toe pumps. And, I will not fail to spend a moment or three waxing lyrical over her hairstyle! This wrap-around braid is gorgeous and sooooo sophisticated! I've seen Alexa on NXT, but never really connected with her character until these shots (behold, the power of the photoshoot!). Her glamour girl self comes shining through and it feels really lighthearted and authentic. I'm kind of crazed over the crystals in her hair; love those so much! She amps up her black lace dress with a colored streak in her hair...and a crystal belt. Def yaaas on the hair. I might have gone for a low-set brooch instead of the belt, just to try to do something a little farther off the diving board, but I think this is a case of Alexa trying her wings to see what works. Her innate style sense is clearly solid and I can't wait to see where it leads her as it experimentation allows it to mature.
We get a preview of that with this gear. the pink and black combo is about as classic as divas colors can get, but the black scratch-streaks give it a very Alexafied twist, as does the peekaboo effect of the black fabric at her right shoulder. And then, she really spices things up with a crystal glove! Superstars using unusual and trendy pieces in fashion and taking risks always makes my fashionable heart flutter, especially when it slays hard...and this does! It brings a big-time wake-up to a basic gear snap. How excited are you about seeing more of Alexa now? We also get a look at Mandy's gear style. I've been waiting to be sold on her street style, but this gear is majorly impressive! Again, she works with the black and white trend, but the light-catching white takes center stage, accented with just a touch of black piping. The open latticework, done in gold sequins, is completely killer - it's a bold statement that's not only eyecatching as heck, but is enough of an edited to statement to be immediately appreciated. She gets extra points for the style tweak of the double-wide wristbands - not enough to be arm covers, but not dainty either. Absolutely everything about this gear is good! Charlotte seems to favor workout shoots; I'm not sure if that's her preference or simply a function of the opportunities available to her. She does a great job with them, though, picking athletic poses and saturated colors that make working out look like the hottest thing to be doing...pretty much anytime :) I especially like how her sneakers bring an extra spike of color to this look. Aaaaand I LOVE her hair. the whispy bangs style may not be super practical for working out, but it looks gorgeous! I also hope we get t see Char do a few more street clothes 'shoots/pics because her style sense is stellar, as amply evidenced by her Instagram.
