I now completely blame WWE for getting the Cranberries' Zombie stuck in my head. Literally can not stop the tune. It is -highly unfortunately- excruciatingly appropriate for the newest photo gallery, in which a variety of WWE Superstars take their turn at being undead...and rather bloody. One might suppose the undead would have outlived their need for blood, but perhaps I am pondering this whole concept too deeply...yes? ;) The Co. takes a number of it's most gorgeous stars and makes them look absolutely repulsive...witness nearly-faceless Bellas, a blood-spattered Maryse, with gaping holes in her thigh or one-legged Summer. The body-con dress ain't doin' nothin' to help that. Clearly, there are some things fashion can't improve. Being undead appears to be one of them, although I hope I never have to test that theory. While I do get occasional "We totally Photoshopped this!" vibes, I'm head-over-heartless for the backgrounds chosen. They are superb - lonely farms, train tracks to nowhere, disheveled mansions, destroyed bathrooms: all the places you would most expect and least hope to discover zombies wandering about (don't any of you guys ever sojourn in well-lit, bright, clean spaces...you know, like crowded atriums?). Alicia's expression is horrifyingly joyful and makes the whole picture come alive. Sasha looks like even more of a boss with two heads on a spike (note to Charlotte and Dana: beware! ( I was gonna say "heads up" but...). Crawling Natalya looks like the safest of the bunch to be within photobombing distance of, but even then I'm not sure I'd trust the situation. Exactly how fast can a super-fit superstar crawl? Becky's ghoulish expression denotes a real flair for the zombie state. She also does wonderfully well as a vampire (a one-off from WWE's new Monsters of the Mat gallery, which also contains a nice shot of Asuka doing a noir take on the Mona Lisa's smile). Magic and otherworldy characters definitely seem to work for Becks - I wonder if she has the powers of witchcraft to go with it? On Halloween, anything is possible! I think I'd stay away from challenging her to a match on Halloween. Maybe schedule something further down the calender ;). For tonight, skip the wrestling and just have a blast becoming whatever you decided to be! (And collecting candy. Candy is always good...even if you're undead :))
