It’s still hard for me to believe that diva-fierce has been around for five whole years! That’s like a lifetime in Cloud-world. It seems like yesterday to me that I was emailing my to-be-partner-in-crime, Alicia, with a “crazy idea”. I've alluded to our beginning, but I've never told the full story..until now! How did Diva-Fierce begin? Well,… *cue dreamy flashback music* Once upon a time, the website where I satiated my diva fashion jones switched ownership (on the way to it’s essential demise) and the fashion writer whose voice I truly revered left. Gahhhh…tragedy! I had become completely obsessed with her viewpoint and reviews and way of expressing her opinions and being without them felt like walking out the door without shoes...just wrong and something missing and being hobbled. I searched far and wide for a replacement and couldn’t find one. Finally, it occurred to me that maybe I could do it, maybe I could be the voice I needed. I resorted to writing reviews of my own. I’m not sure what inspired me, but one day, I posted one or two of them on a website Alicia worked for. In a wild plot twist :), she responded to me in the comments, asking if I’d like to write for the site. Yep, she actually hired me ;). We shared fashion review duties on that site happily for awhile, until “re-branding” became a thing. Suddenly, that was “What You Need To Do NOW”. The site owner hopped on that particular train and came up with a new concept for the site. I admired and supported the creativity and the dedication to staying fresh but, at the same time, I had trouble understanding how fashion would fit into the new approach. I talked to the owner about it and we had a nice dialogue. In the end, though, I just couldn’t see my stylish self fitting in anymore. I mentioned my concerns to Alicia and she concurred, hence my “hey, girl, I’ve got this crazy idea…what if…we did our own fashion-focused diva/KO web site?” email. Her response was “I’m in!” I toddled off and got us a domain name and...I would like to say that BANG…diva-fierce.com was born! But, actually we had another hiccough to weather (literally, as a hurricane interrupted our power and prevented the site from launching for almost week). We had planned to go live in August, but it didn't actually happen until September. And then, the real work/passion/creativity/deadlines began. The End. Or rather, the Beginning!
*The slideshow above is from our first anniversary, resurrected from the archives :). Fun fact: The "Let's rock this..." slide is a reference to the quote from Mean Girls. It's something Alicia and I used to say to each other in the early days of building the site. It encapsulated for us that feeling of being free to create something that would hold its own (or better ;)) what we had done before. Note: the pics in slides 13-14,16-19 and 29 are attributed to their respective creators at publicdomainpics.net.

Brie, I haven't seen this story of us yet! Thinking about us, and our amazing team and the little fashion empire we both created over the years makes me so happy! I wasn't in a good place for a while, but turning to you, Kim and D-F always brightened up my day so I am so I will always be so thankful for that. I'm so so happy to see that you are continuing to write and review and do what makes you happy. You'll always be Queen B to me! xoxo
