Sooo…apologies: I went to link this review to Lana’s newest NY Daily News gallery and realized that apparently, I never actually reviewed it. And that is completely weird because I literally remember writing it. Total strangeness! The upside for all of you is that ….ta-da…you get a major bikini ‘shoot in autumn. This should get you warmed right up! ;) She kicks things off with a bikini of palest aqua that is strikingly similar to one she wore while playing on a floatie in the NY Daily News set. While the NYD piece has an extra split band at the bust, this one is a faux-twist style with a pretty ruched detail at the center. Her bottoms are the simplest of bikini bottoms. The subtle detail and soft color create a peaceful, relaxing vibe that’s just right for “wasting” hours at poolside under a glaring sun, while the sweetheart-halter gives it a slightly retro vibe. Lana accentuates the carefree feel with long and loose blonde locks and adds delicate sheen with a collection of slim bangles. She can’t resist a touch of modern glamour, though, which she gives us via her mirror-finish silver t-strap platform sandals. They’re the closest thing to a spoken word in an outfit of whispers. The silver contrasts with the gold bracelets for a touch of current style philosophy and completes the look with a dose of panache. They’re the only nod to flashiness, however, as her poses –paused on the pool stairs or lounging at the water’s edge- reflect a more contemplative mood: she pauses on the pool stair From there, she moves to a flirty ruffle-embellished French top, paired with matching slit-sided bottoms. The print is a bold geometric exploration of triangles, done in metallic gold on a black background. It’s sassy and sultry and, in spite of her quiet finish with ivory wedge espadrilles, has a much more intense and energetic vibe than her tranquil blue look. A selection of black and gold bangles brings in additional texture. In keeping with the glamour of this bikini, Lana kicks up the drama of her poses, working the hands-in-hair, skyward glances and dropped-eyelash smiles that make this look thrilling and beautiful. The stunning vegetation-lined lake backdrop doesn’t hurt either :). It makes a lovely variation on the traditional beach. From there, it’s on to full-blown luxe with a shining metallic gold one-piece. If that can’t-miss-me fabric wasn’t enough, the maillot sports a plunging ‘v’ front that threatens to take center stage. This piece screams “sensual opulence” and Lana thoroughly embodies it, glaring at the camera and nailing challenging angles that accentuate the fast-life vibe of the piece. I wish this had been shot more in front of the stone walls, as the greenery and wooden picnic table feel a touch off-kilter behind all the flash, though Lana made a creditable attempt to tie in the organic vibe via a pair of wooden bangles. Her minimalist golden collar necklace seems the better suited as an accessory for this look. I can also find myself hankering after a more exciting pair of heels than her ivory espadrilles – if ever there were a bikini made to pair with strappy heels, this is it! Lana’s last swimsuit choice combines the Impressionistic feel of her first look with a stronger contrast: she pairs a blush metallic triangle top with stark black bottoms. I love the unusual fabric of her top; the shimmery pink is gorgeous! The contrasting bottom works nicely, with the solidity of the black anchoring the wispy, barely-there pink. It works especially well in the underwater shots where the movement of the water blurs the black, giving it the suggestion of a glimmer which echoes that of the top. Lana’s serene but sensual poses and facials perfectly create the concept of a girl very much aware of the moment and savoring a glorious day. The gold bangles from her first look provide the only accompaniment; she skips shoes entirely. As a bonus for the tardiness of this review, I’m including a few other bikini snaps from the Ravishing One: first up is a silver version of her gold plunge-front monokini which seems to be a look that didn’t make it the final four. That’s a pity because I love the silver just as much! She completed the look with diamond studs (I’d have loved a super-delicate pendant too!)/ Her blush make-up palette adds warmth to the chilled glamour of the look. Next up is a white and leopard bikini from AquaBlu Swimwear she wore aboard a unicorn floatie. I like the way the white accents tame the wild quality of the leopard. Lana added a straw fedora with a black ribbon for a little extra chic. From there, we move on to a white wrap-top bikini Lana wore in Cabo that reminds me of origami done on the body. It’s beautiful, unique and might actually be functional enough to stay in place – a quality I adore in bikinis! White chevron bottoms complete this pristine and sophisticated swimsuit. A high bun creates a more prim effect than Lana’s previous loose hairstyles and hearkens back to her Ice Queen days. It’s fun to see that character come out again! A cerise lace triangle top and coordinating bottoms, also worn in Cabo, completes our Lost Swim bonanza on a very sexy note. Who doesn’t love a bikini that can double as lingerie? And after all the pastels and metallic, this intense, spicy color makes a delightful change! Her classic, flawless stance s she pulls her hair into a ponytail is simultaneously tantalizing and feminine. It makes me ready for summer again, even though it’s barely left!
