Gail got to meet up with a number of her friends this spring and there was some serious fashion involved! Before we get to that, though, Eva was doing some fun fashion things, as well.
First, she's keeping her own NEM line trend-heavy with this pretty striped choker top. It melds both on-point stripes and the smoking hot, not-going-anywhere off-shoulder silhouette. I love the fresh, summery feel of the piece, which Eva enhanced by pairing it with beige denim. That color story always makes me think of sun-soaked beach promenades! In a related NEM note, the company has recently introduced active-wear! Primarily in black and white with futuristic sheer and satin-y contrasting panels, it has the same modern, confident vibe as the rest of the NEM line. So, def be sure you check that out :) Next, she received the opportunity to walk the runway for made-in-the-USA evening-wear brand Stello. The company launched its Sir Stello menswear line this spring and Eva modelled this black suit on the catwalk. Overall I really enjoy the way this piece was styled, with the wide leather corset belt (although I could have done without the dangling suspender straps) and the pants tucked in to Eva's lace-up booties. Even thought the clothes are masculine, the way they are accessorized and used highlights the feminine form and fluidity. The contrast feels surprising, without being tacky or aiming for shock value and I could 100% see this styling being used like off-runway. Gail met up with Christy and Brooke around Wrestlemania and the ladies three were looking fine! I need to just take a moment and rave over what an amazing job Brooke has done - her post-baby body is unbelievable! And this pretty ivory dress highlights every curve! I love her bold eyes and soft rose lip shade. And I reeeaaally wish I had gotten to see her shoes. Actually, that's true for all three ladies. Work on that for next time for me, huh, Lovelies? ;) j/k. I'm thrilled we got to see some fashion, any fashion, from them all actually. Christy paired a feminine and on-trend blush choker-cutout blouse with her usual dose of rocker edge via a metallic gold pencil skirt. I love how she always injects something unexpected and which feels very much "her" into a look! Gail looked classy and chic in a blakc satin dress with a gorgeous strapless silhouette and sweetheart neckline. A gold statement collar necklace ramped up her look. Is this #GirlSquadGoals or what?

Charlotte went through a run of all-black outfits in March. Her first has a great vibe, including enough trend to be mod, enough classic to be chic. She paired a slightly cropped cutout-choker style top with leggings and topped it all with a classic biker jacket. I love how she went for knee-high leather boots here. They're less fierce than OTK's, but more classic. Because they're flats, the to-the-knee style feels like something less styled and more practical, which actually gives the look tougher, more streetwise vibe than the OTKs would, which I find kind of cool. One of the tremendous attributes of classic styles is that they can shift between looks and genres with ease, which is what keeps them chic for decades and makes them good investments.
She uses the boots again for her next look, this time matched with black denim and an interesting black top with a sheer shoulder detail. Ordinarily, I'm a huge fan of cap sleeves, even a micro-mini version, like these. One reason for that is that they accentuate the shoulders, which is fab when you're creating a visual hourglass. There's a caveat, though: if you have a broad-shouldered body type (by which I don't mean having large shoulders, but having shoulders which tend to be naturally wider than your hips), you want to avoid accentuating them still more, without balancing the ratio at your hip in some way. A peplum would achieve that balance, as would an A-line skirt, side ties on a bikini (if you have this body type and fall in love with a halter bikini top, keep this in mind :)). A high-waisted wide-leg pant could also do the trick if the cut was right. Or, you could use an oversize sweater that takes the whole hip-shoulder relationship right out of the equation by playing on proportion differently, as Char has with her last black look of this set. For this interview with the NY Daily News, she chose an off-the-shoulder sweater - another style which accentuates the shoulders - but done in a drape-y, boyfriend-esque silhouette, instead of a bodycon shape. With this kind of proportion on top, skinny jeans are the perfect accompaniment, creating a casually fierce vibe that's enhanced by suede OTK boots. This is how it's done, babes! Charlotte then does an about-face from all the black and gives is this sweet, spring-y floral maxi dress, with a flowy shape that has the effect of an A-line. While this piece could easily be dressed up with colored heels, I love how she keeps it a bit more relaxed with rose-gold thing sandals. As with many of her looks, a statement watch is the only jewellry and its boldness provides a nice counterpoint to the delicacy of her dress. You can see the makings of her glorious Wrestlemania gear in this ice-blue cape from Fastlane. Charlotte's color choices for her gear have been stellar and this one keeps the trend going. It's pristine and cool, with a hint of magic about it that's grounded by the black feather and clasp details. I'm so awed by her ability to reconcile all these dramatic, glamorous elements (sequins, crystals, feathers) into something that comes off intricate and beautiful, rather than gaudy! Props to her and Terry Andersen! There are a number of snaps from Wrestlemania week and events that just didn't quite fit anywhere else, so I've collected them all here into a salad of Wrestlemania fashion - with plenty of dressing (ha ha...see what I did there? :) ...Ok, yeah...it was a bad pun...but you love me for them :)). Prob about to be the tastiest salad you've ever had, right?
If you saw this and thought "Hey - Mandy and Lana buy their boots at the same place!", well....yep I had that same though too :). Mandy reminded us that she's the Gold Standard of WWE by rounding off this white crop top and blush pencil skirt combo with metallic gold ankle booties. As with Lana's outfit, these seem like a bit too brazen a way to finish the look, at least in this material. I'd love them in beige suede, though! Then again, I could totally see this color and silhouette paired with her ring gear. So, the boots themselves = yaas, the circumstances = less yaas. Minus the boots, I like the way this look works on Mandy. It fits her trendy, sexy style, without being overblown and I like the minimalist influence of the unadorned silhouettes and fabrics. As a side note, it's quite similar to the look Maryse wore for Axxess. I wonder if the French Queen is giving Mandy some style inspiration? Hmmm :) Charlotte's cutout floral dress was her look of choice for both the Rick Flair statue unveiling and her Toys R Us meet and greet. This is a gorgeous dress, playing on the season's dark floral trend, a look that made waves in the fall and has stayed strong through the spring. The wide-ranging mix of colors in the print keeps the styling fresh and garden-y, but less starry-eyed than a light-background print. The side cutouts give an extra dash of flirty-ness, while the sheer lacy details the edge of the bodice bring an interesting extra dimension. Charlotte plays that up nicely by echoing it in her shoe choice: black ankle strap sandals with sheer fabric at the vamp. This is a wonderful summer dress than could be lightened up more with bright accessories (yellow sandals, aqua bag), as well as working its way into fall when topped with a blazer or motorcycle jacket. Stephanie also attended the Rick Flair statue reveal and, like Charlotte, chose a dress for the event. This checkerboard print isn't my favorite per se - possibly due in part to the somewhat drab sage-gray color - but I absolutely love the way the print is used on the piece to create shape. The smaller scale in the middle accentuates the waist, while the larger rint at the bottom enhances the a-line shape and adds to the hourglass visual. So, despite my lack of excitement about the pattern, I think the piece is wonderfully conceived and a fantastic choice for Stephanie. She completed the look with one of her favorite pairs of sandals, her St. Laurent Tribute sandals in black. She also gets fierce point for the super cute braided ponytail! Maryse created a fabulous layered effect by wearing her ivory capelet dress from BCBG over this sheer-printed sheath dress. I'm wild over the unique way she used these two pieces together - what a great way to get more out of your wardrobe! And the look is amazing; the extra dimension the underlayer adds to the cape dress works flawlessly and looks incredibly chic! She finishes this masterpiece with her Valentino Rockstud pumps and a neutral bag with a chain handle for a bit of extra edge. Equally appealing is the black monochrome outfit she wore for a business summit with Alicia. Maryse paired a simple v-neck peplum top with flowing wide-leg pants. Note the difference in the look they create compared to, say, a leather legging or a mini pencil skirt. The look comes off polished and professional. It's a crucial part of being a fashionista to dress appropriately for the occasion, whatever it may be and Maryse is a master at it! She finishes the look with a barely-visible pair of black embellished sandals that we'll be getting a better look at shortly *wink*. Comparable to Maryse as a fashionista is Foxy, with an equal innate grasp of the right look for an event. She, too, went with an all-black look and wide-leg pants. She topped hers with a v-neck blouse as well, but added a beautifully tailored jacket and statement necklace. My favorite part of her look is the dash of quirkiness thrown in via patent leather oxford flats. That is trademark Foxy! I love how she always throws a curveball into her fashion and never lets it get boring. We got a very mixed bag of snaps from Axxess Day 3 - everything from full body shots to partial torsos. The latter naturally make it somewhat difficult to review per se, but being the fashion lover I am, I try to at least make a comment or two :).
Charlotte went for a classic combination of red and black, pairing a halter cropped top with stunning red wide-leg pants. She gets huge props for trying out the wide leg style and I really love how she makes it work. The key to the trend is defining the waist one way or another (which allows the pants to work their long, leggy magic). Charlotte's choice of the crop top accomplishes this perfectly. This shade of red is glorious - intense and attention getting. By doing it as the larger, bolder piece in her look , Charlotte gave it extra significance and made the whole outfit stand out. Leave it to Alicia to slay the life out of an Axxess outift! I LOVE this look - her burgundy suede overall dress (yes - a dress with an overall top. This one is the Jameson Leather Overall Dress x For Love & Lemons via Mulaner. A few also available in black at lexandlynne.com) is super fun in and of itself, but with studs? Fierce, baby! So fierce! But Her Foxiness doesn't stop there. She adds trendiness to uniqueness and fierceness by layering an off-shoulder tank underneath it for a completely incredible casual look. This is how you make laidback be totally NOT boring! A short collar pendant necklace and a low bun complete this amazing look. Nia went for a black monochrome outfit, which is solid throughout. She does an excellent job mixing textures for visual interest by topping a knit tee and black leggings with a leather-panelled knit waterfall jacket. I haven't seen enough of her fashion choices to know if all black is something she gravitates to often. If that's her preference and what she enjoys, that rocks! But I do get sad when I think that a number of curvier ladies stay with black because they've been told 18 million times over that it's slimming. The way an outfit looks on the body is much more about cut, fabric and visual geometry than color. So, curvy chicks, if you love color , this is my personal plea to you: don't shy away from it! Have some fun with your palette :) Summer kept things light with a blush tank (or tank dress) with tonal striping. A pretty ivory lace choker accented the look. One thing that I love very much about this piece is that it definitely seems to not be a coord set :). Also, the softness of the combination is gorgeous for hot weather -light neutrals always have a dewy fresh quality. The Lady Superstars took a varied approach to International Media Day, with style ranging from casual fierce to semi-formal. Nikki falls into the first category with this combination of a sequined navy bomber and leather pull-on shorts. I love the way she used the jacket as a top and zipped it to just the right height to show enough..but not too much. Also, I nearly always love me some sequins - especially when contrasted with less formal elements as Nikki does here. Suede OTKs finish off the styling. A much as I love OTKs, I can't help thinking that, viewed via this angle, I'd like to see how playing up the sporty vibe with sneakers instead would have worked out. Becky's look is straightforward: classic white tee, paired with black skinny jeans.. She adds a nice - an unexpected- dash of polish with a black suiting blazer and I love that she chose to go in that direction, instead of the more common classic leather jacket. Black high-top sneakers round off her look. Emma and Charlotte went a bit more formal with their outfits. Emma wore a jaw-dropping black dress embellished with grommet details that made a sexy, peekaboo pattern. I love the way this piece combines a daring, grungy attitude with a classic silhouette...and looks wicked cool in the bargain! This fantastic choice of Emma's is definitely a highlight for me. I wish we'd gotten to see her shoes, but I'm voting for black lace-up sandals. I'm a huge fan of Charlotte's look as well. This black romper melded trendy and feminine. The material is polished, but still flows so that it kisses her curves, which is a flawless look for her. The lace details at the shoulders break up the black and add subtle, but important visual interest. Charlotte completed the look with nude pointy toe pumps. No surprises on that choice, as they have been a fave of hers the last few months, but they complete this look in just the right way - with polish and fierceness!
With fashion weeks and new spring pieces coming in and the knowledge that we’re (finally!) on the back end of winter, there’s a lot to love about February! And oh yeah, there’s that Valentine’s Day thing too :-). The Divas rocked their style this month and that made just that much more lovable, so let’s about love, baby!
Charlotte’s in-ring fashion interests me because it has a distinctive character compared to her street style. She lightens up for her street style, stretched further and brings in more color and generally a bit more femininity. Her in-ring style (other than her gear) has a minimalist, and tougher quality. It acts nicely as a balance to the gorgeousness and glam of her ring attire, but I wouldn’t mind seeing her push some boundaries either. This black monochrome look typifies the styling she’s so successful with: leather peplum top creates curves and edge, black denim lends that laidback air and suede OTK’s complete things with a whisper of fierce. It’s solid, simple and polished. For risk-taking, we have to look to Renee, who breaks out this pair of plaid-accented pants. We had a rasher of printed pants going on among the divas last fall and Renee decided to hop on the train. As with Maryse and the other fashion-accomplished divas, Renee makes the more daring bottoms work by pairing them with a simple top and keep the whole look primarily about dark neutrals – except for my favorite part: her hot pink lip shade, which echoes that shade in the plaid and carries the color upward flawlessly! It’s an outfit-maker choice that makes the whole look pop. A simple choker adds an au courant touch. Alexa reaches for her engaging aesthetic of chilled glam with this look, pairing a sheer-meets-solid top with moto pants and low heeled black knee boots. I love the zipper-embellished pants, but the rest of the look is somewhat underwhelming. It’s trying for hotness and comes off feeling more common than fierce. It surprises me that I could call anything “common” which contains that incredibly awesome crystal choker, but the mix of elements is just a shade off, which gives us a quick refresher course on why the most effortless-looking style can sometimes be the hardest to capture. Paradoxically, I think she might have gotten more impact from a simple cap-sleeve, scoop-necked cropped tee that put the focus on the crystals and the contrast with her sturdy boots. Next time! ;) Mickie also works the casual look and hers comes together nicely. She pairs a brick red cold-shoulder-top (showing shoulders is so totes on trend right now!) with blue denim. A wide woven cognac belt accents her waist and ties in with her to-the-knee boots. So far, so good. She spikes the whole look with a statement gemstone necklace in peacock blue and orange – a surprising combination that makes you think about it for a moment. The blue harmonizes with her jeans, while the orange echoes the cognac shade, making the surprise a stellar choice. It gives the look distinction, without being jarring. Props, girl! And there were still more great looks from the Rumble!
Bayley gets serious props for the main shade of her gear, a fabulous mint green that we don't see very often in WWE. With the bubblegum pink and lemon yellow graphic print additions, it's like an ice cream shop you can wear! :) Sometimes Bay's gear can get a little too busy for my taste, but she shows just enough restraint here to make this gear appealing. The front lace-up detail is one of my favorite features. I'm also loving her on-trend and so-right-for-her sparkly bomber - super cute! I could probably survive without the colorful fringe, but it does bring even mooooore color to her look :) and, more importantly, some really fun movement! Charlotte's cape had the Black Swan vibe going on again, this time with a halo-like hood framing her face. The patterned lining coordinated with her gear flawlessly. Her outerwear is simply incredible! And her ringwear follows suit; this variation was done in an entrancing ice blue, set off with quantities of glistening crystals set in an almost floral-like pattern. The icy shimmer received a bit of grounding from the black piping - a perfect touch which gave a nice edge to the look, as well as coordinating with her magnificent cape. |
