Lana spent a few days in New York with her sister during the middle of Aug and, as she often does, totally switched up her style for that short time. It's SO much FUN when she does this; it keeps The Fashion Blogger Life interesting! So, speciba, Queen Lana! For this particular jaunt, she paired a denim lace-up pantsuit with high top sneakers and a baseball cap. Imagine - glamorous Lana does a baseball cap! She looks ttly downtown cool: "Lana From The Block" anyone? :)
Cathy has been showing quite a flair for amazing looks since she first caught our attention. This one is a fabulous blend of tough and tender. She pairs a studded leather mini skirt (from Nasty Gal, id by fashionofthedivas.tumblr.com) with a velvet camisole. This has such a great textural contrast - lush velvet, smooth leather, hard flashy studs ...and a touch of lace trim on her cami for a bit more femininity. The outfit is incredibly pretty...but not at all too sweet. Kind of like dark chocolate :). She adds a touch more gold with a delicate necklace from Topshop, which pulls the whole thing together. I'm envisioning black heels with this: fierce sandals or cool-girl ankle booties. Spoiler alert! There will be a prom this season on Total Divas! Ooooo. Ahhhhhhh. The whole situation apparently arose because Miz discovered Maryse had never been to a prom (do they not do the prom thing in Canada? I can't imagine there would have been anything other than a line of guys stretching straight across the country waiting to invite Maryse to one). TD therefore decided to throw one the blonde beauty (and the rest of the divas (Ha! See - Total Divas ="divas"! It's not passe!)) could attend. We got a sneak peek at a couple of outfits thanks to the magic of Instagram. Maryse chose a white halter gown, embellished with gold stripes. The simplicity of this dress is lovely. She gets massive props from me for her elbow-length gloves (LOVE) and her gorgeous updo - I love the dangly tendrils falling to one side. Dana's choice was a modern dress in a classic shade. The wrap style I can totally get behind. the plunge front is just a bit much for the prom, though. (Yes, the prom. I like my definite articles. Leave it there. :D #GrammarSoldier). I'm not sure how I feel about the calf-high gladiators either. I'm leaning toward "nay", especially with the already risky dress. Her updo though! OMG is that ever gorgeous!! Natalya's coord set was on point, as always. She gets yyyyyuuuuuge ;) Fierce points for choosing navy. The simple skirt with its wide matching band offsets the glittering, be-crystalled bodice flawlessly. That's how it's done, folks. I love her pretty gold headband too! It gives me early Lana del Rey vibes and I thnk Nattie could also have rocked some big-volume locks piled up around it a la Lana, had she chosen to go that route ;).

Yeah, I know it's a bit odd to be celebrating Independence Day spirit at the end of July. But...in my defense...uh...actually I have no defense, I'm just running behind 'cuz life is BUSY, y'all. Still, any day can be a day of independence and a little extra celebrating never hurt anyone, right? ;) So, light up your sparklers (a sparkling smile will suffice :)) and let's get to it!
Maryse wows us on a continual basis by coming up with ever-evolving interpretations of a chic formula. The statement-coat-over-bodysuit look, paired with OTK's is her current slay-us-via-style genre. Lately, she has taken to ramping up the glam in the look by finishing it with massive, jaw-dropping necklaces. This one, a symphony of layered black stones set in a raindrop pattern gives this black monochrome look - already fabulous due to the complexity of her sleeveless trench- to a new level of bold elegance. I always enjoy seeing where Maryse leads us on her fashion journeys! She goes from dark glamour to red hot in her next look: a bodycon dress accented with some seriously daring cutouts, which are filled in with crisscross straps. Holy! The Sexiest Of The Sexy rides again. After we pop our eyeballs back in, can we talk about this ponytail? I love the juxtaposition of sleek with sexy! Lana went for a sand-colored bodycon with an empire waist. This color has been all over fashion lately (especially paired with blush pink), and, even though it isn't red, white, or blue, I still love the soft warmth of the color for a summer picnic. Pop it with red or navy shoes and/or bag and/or jewels for a super classic look. Renee's lace-up romper hits all the right color notes and is suitably free-spirited with its exotic paisley print. Her chunky camel shoes nod to both boho and the 90's and ground this look perfectly. The pairing is trademark Renee: lighthearted, functional and FUN. Adding it to the "To Borrow" list now. Sasha's cutout pantsuit has a modern, architectural vibe that immediately caught my attention. It's simple, but strong - defintitely the kind of piece that makes an impression! Her "Boss" jewelry and bedazzled sunnies bring her personal spin to the look...but not nearly as much as her wedge sneakers do! They're a unique pairing with the jumpsuit and reiterates Sasha's claim on the sporty-street style territory she is carving out for herself. It's a theme that's different, interesting and makes her stand out. Sometimes, all you need is one solid shot of fierce to make everything fall into place :). Such is the case with Dana's recent outfit. Skinny denim+halter top is a so-fab-right-now combo. But what really takes this look to new heights is the studded shoes. Hello, Fierce! A dagger necklace, cuff bracelet and statement earrings are just icing on the cake. So, let's play and light our stylish fires with this idea of fierce-on-foot as the raison d'etre for a look. Because there are so few pieces involved, the outfit has to be built via carefully selected and balance elements. Take the event into consideration. For date night or a concert, do it Dana's way and pick a top with a bit of interest. Don't think full-on sequins...more like a fringe detail, interesting straps, cute pleats, a special fabric (like hammered silk), but done in a simple tank silhouette. You're looking for a piece that's not run-of-the-mill, but isn't a stop-traffic conversation piece either. Bottoms = skinny jeans. Easy enough. However, if you have a personal vendetta against skinny jeans (hear ya!) or just plain don't feel like them today, consider slim chinos or ponte pants. Color is equally non-challenging: black, black, black! It's edgy, it's chic, it's just right. And now, the moment you've been waiting for...the zing! ...The YAAAS!....The ha-cha-cha!...The shoes! Whaddaya got, babes? Studded leather pumps? Bring 'em! Lace-up sandals? Right on! Strappy booties? Hell, yeah! Crystal or fringe accented stilettos? Spot on! If it's prim, proper and chic ...leave it home. You're here for the fierce and nothing but the fierce...so, take no prisoners. Post-shoes, throw on a bauble or two if the spirit moves you. Or don't. It's all good. Now, let's say your event is a little more chill...lunch with the girls, paint night, etc etc. So, essentially, it's the same deal...just tone the whole thing down by going with a basic top...a rib knit body-skimming tee, a slouchy tank. Add a studded wrap bracelet to bring in an extra touch of flash. If you want to split the difference between the two options, consider something like the oh-so trendy off-the-shoulder blouse. It's chic and sexy, without being overly dressy. And, as always, fierce shoes will raise it to new heights. Hope you bust out your most ferocious stilettos sometimes soon! Rock that shiz, girlfriends! XO
If you were craving a little Barbie Blank in your life, we got ya covered! She was featured recently in Most Fitness magazine's 15th issue, looking resplendent in black. She has literally the hottest workout gear I've ever seen, including a slashed bodysuit (previewed here), and a cutout one-piece paired with sheer sweatpants, as well as the sheer-striped inset halter top and the crop-top and leggings coord set above. The lace-up detail on her crop top takes it into crave-worthy territory. You could def skip the workout and wear this with jeans or a pencil skirt, as well as with the coordinating leggings. I love how the cuffs at the leggings match the side detail of the top so it's clear that it's a set! I'm also a huge fan of Barbie's mirrored metallic pumps and the way they enhance the silver flash of the grommets in her clothing. Just....wtdefbkgyfsiysiwzowjd. The lighting in the 'shoot was kept very cool and the settings are icy clean and industrial, creating a futuristic fierceness reminiscent of a Joseph Kahn video. So amazing! See more from the 'shoot here. (Psssst.... Eva Marie was featured in issue 14, so check that out too.) Black monochrome seemed to be high on Barbie's style radar this summer, as she also promoted WAGS in a smoldering dark look. This one utilized a chic suit, including a cropped blazer and high-waisted slim pants paired with a lace brassiere. Hot d**n. She accessorized with a pretty scalloped choker and black patent leather pointy toe pumps.
Maryse was rocking white on not one, but two occasions recently and no wonder: it's one of the summer's hottest looks! First, she attended a poker night fundraiser for Tower Cancer Research. Her white mock-neck dress is made of a fabulous, luxurious quilted material and accented with gazillions of crystals. It's chic and glam and oh so thoroughly Maryse. Let's just take a moment, shall we? ...She finished the look with nude pointy heels and topped it off with a sleek, top-knot bun. I love the refined sophistication of this outfit! Maryse does it again with her second white look: a white suit done with shorts and a cropped jacket, matched with a blush bodysuit. I'm a huge fan of the casual polish of a shorts-suit for summer. It has the chic, fierce vibe of a suit, but the relaxed effect of shorts. Maryse finishes the look with her new, world-dominating Valentino Rockstud heels. Also looking fantastically chic is Natalya in a modern, sophisticated LBD with sheer insets. I'm really enjoying her decision to finish this look with these maple brown horsebit ankle strap sandals (by Gucci). Nude or camel is a classic pairing with black, but this slightly darker shade of warm brown looks amazing, as well as being a bit more unique! Lana looks gorgeous in this powder blue mockneck cutout crop top and pencil skirt set. While the silhouette of her top is flawlessly on trend and makes this outfit fierce and modern, the real standout to me is this incredible color! It happens to be one of those shades that flatters many hair/skin tone combinations, including (clearly) fair and blonde :). Her black lace-up sandals bring some additional edge to this look. I could also see finishing it with bright white, vibrant blue, gray seude or silver metallic. I was thrilled to see Dana bring out this look a few weeks ago; it's such a perfect pairing for her! The high-neck, cutaway-shoulder style looks wonderful on her, while the cropped style highlights her curves. The leather-esque accents toughen up the look in a subtle, but sexy way. She matched it black skinny pants that ramp up the edgy vibe. And her coup de grace is these crave-worthy studded pointy-toe pumps. Like...yes! That is how you complete a black-on-black ensemble! bold earrings and a spiked collar necklace add a touch more texture and sheen to this rocker-inspired styling. Nikki brought a more subtle rocker touch to her Las Vegas trip with this white lace-up top, paired with distressed denim. I love how the ruffled cap sleeves bring femininity to this look, which plays nicely against the harsher feel of the torn denim. She took the look from "classic summer pairing" to "off-duty rockstar" by the addition of the wide, black choker necklace, which brings a great twist of fierce to the outfit. We don't get to see her shoes, but studded gladiators or block-heeled black ankle boots would work nicely here. I'd also be on board with a black leather belt (even a studded one!;)) to echo her black necklace. Barbie graced the red carpet with this printed bodycon dress recently. The complexity of this pattern makes the piece a real stand-out! I'm also loving her exploration of this color - it's not one we've seen much of on Barbie, and it suits her quite well. She finished the look with nude pumps, a modern and successful choice. If I could tweak one thing, it would be to warm up her lip color a smidge - maybe just to a tawny pink. This sand shade is coming off a bit drab to me. Outside of that, this look is A+..i.e., classic Barbie! :-)
Maryse debuted a new statement trench at the end of last month and it is a jaw-dropper It's a sleeveless leather masterpiece of scalloped details and sparkling stones that perfectly realizes the rocker facet of Maryse's style. And Dana Brooke makes this FashionHap not once, but twice, which is a good thing because call-out number one is ...well, less than I would hope for from her. This lace-accented, polka-dot sheer-inset embellished bodysuit has a very vintage vibe, which is set against a leather peplum and finished off with ballsy cutout leather leggings. It comes dangerously close to hot mess territory because it tries to combine too many vibes, rather than juxtaposing a selected few. Her next outfit is a dramatic improvement: a lavender bodysuit with a sheer-stripe overlay and lavender piping, enhanced by a sprinkling of blue-teal sequins. This works! It's got power and impact, but it's still pared down enough to allow the details to harmonize and be appreciated. Moe like this, please! :-) PS props for the azalea lip shade - it makes a nice pop against the black and purple. |
