Becky’s look from the recent Kane tribute photoshoot is pretty street-worthy in and of itself…if you happen to have a red-accented black jumpsuit hanging around in your closet. If you don’t…well, I’m sorry , you’ll have to go naked today. Just kidding! Please don’t do that – fashion is waaay too much fun to leave home without it :). It is a bit trickier, though, to translate this look, with its sleek, engineering-esque punk aesthetic over to more common pieces. It becomes about the idea of the look, rather than an exact match. To begin, I envisioned simplifying the main look to all black, which opens up a lot more options. Next, I worked with this concept as a two-piece outfit instead of a jumpsuit. The crux of the styling is to get an aerodynamic, streamlined vibe. You can do that with almost any curve-hugging black top you have: a zippered blazer, a leather moto jacket, even an elevated sweatshirt (hoodies ttly allowed!) with a few structured details, like zippered pockets or varsity stripes, will work. I’ve envisioned this item zipped up, acting as a top, rather than an open upper layer, so wear whatever makes you comfortable below. Bonus points if it’s red ;). A similar theory applies on the bottom: choose anything with a form-fitting, taut or tough vibe – consider slim track pants, skinny jeans, moto pants or similarly hardware-heavy options, pieces with leather accents or side-stripes in a contrasting color or material. Also think about using any pair you own that has red stripes, red lining, etc. My first instinct was to reach for a straight silhouette, which you can totally do. To be authentic to Becky’s look, though, actually requires a slight flare, so don’t forget about your bootcut and softly widening-legged pieces! To bring in the Kane-esque punk-from-hell vibe, you’ll need jewels with a ‘tude: think spikes, studs, chains, grommets. Whatever you own in that vein, drag it out. Since it’s the main communicator of the theme, don’t be afraid to layer it up: earrings, a stack of bracelets, or one on each wrist, a selection of rings, all of the above. Complete the look with a shot of red: ankle booties (with flared pants outside the bootie a la Becky, or slim pants inside the bootie, unless they’re cropped), or red pointy pumps. Consider red sneakers as an option as well. If you are the proud non-owner of any red footwear of any kind, go with hardware-accented ankle boots, OTKs or black pointy pumps (bonus points for studded pairs). I hope this inspires you to get your Kane (x Becky) on! Happy styling :)

Brooke plays with proportion in this rock-tinged, 80s-vibing ensemble that pairs a trendy choker-neck sweater with leather-panelled denim. What really caught my eye here is the super-fun play on proportion: an oversize top combined with slim bottoms. Oversize is a massive trend right now and it also happens to be a comfy one. The key to wearing it like a fashionista is to use it in a way that flatters your body. One fab way to do this is to combine it with a contrasting silhouette, as Brooke did here. I’m head-over-stilettos for the fierce iteration she chose (and I’ll do plenty of raving about that at a later date ;), but I thought we’d explore a more chill version of her look, one that’s more “inspired by” than a precise replica. Start with your favorite/handiest/only clean skinny jeans. I’m obsessed with blue denim at the moment, but black will 100% work as well. Next up: boxy sweater. Reach for a classic neutral (ivory (yum!), gray, beige, navy) or a cozy color (burgundy, forest green, plum). If you don’t currently own your own oversize piece, steal…erm borrow… one from your boyfriend, brother, sister, willing-to-donate aunt, random passer-by (I mean, it's fashion..drastic measures are expected), basically anyone with a sweater a size or three up from what you normally wear. Give the outfit a dose of femininity by choosing a piece with ruffle accents, lace or crochet details, or wearing it draped off of one shoulder. Then, contrast that vibe by pairing it with totally non-girly combat boots (or any similarly chill flat ankle boots). Tie them off about three quarters of the way up and let the tongue flap to totally cement your cool-girl status. Carry your trinkets in a broken-in leather backpack (suede or embroidered will work nicely too). Alternatively, go with a simple silhouette. Consider styling it with a frontal half-tuck (fun but not required :)). Give the look a shot of personality by finishing it with intriguing flats: floral brocade, embroidered or bejeweled, fur-puff embellished, statement-making print – whatever floats your ducks in a row. Let your bag be your baubletry with a chain-handled crossbody, or add your own bag charms, brooches, silk flowers or scarf to a simpler bag. And boom: you’re cute, cool and super-cozy …right in time for a holiday dinner. You slayer you ;)
Hoodie, non-choker-neck sim for Brooke's sweater here. I love the way Becky elevated this simple tee and jeans pairing so easily and effectively by topping it with this intriguing floral bomber! Jackets are one of my favorite – and one of the simplest!- ways to turn an outfit from “something I just threw on” into style. This one has a quirky blend of femininity from the flowers and sportiness due to the stripes. It’s such a strong and fun statement that it immediately gives weight to the look and it touches on the crucial floral trend without being all fancy. It’s simple enough to re-create: boxy tee and slim blue denim (distressed works, un-distressed also works; pick your passion!)create the backdrop. Gray makes a versatile alternative to Becky’s choice of white and keeps the look lighter overall. I would def be on board for doing this with moodier dark tones as well: charcoal, navy, forest green, wine. If you’re shivering just looking at a t-shirt, try this with a sweatshirt (even a hoodie ;)) or an oversize thermal to maintain the super-chill vibe. Or, go with a cable sweater for a nod to the oh-so-trendy 80’s. The floral print has my deep love and appreciation at the moment, but the casual ease of this ensemble can take other directions: play on texture by choosing a quilted topper, enhance the sporty feel with a classic varsity-inspired piece or let your whimsy loose with an animal-embroidered jacket. Since it’s officially fall, finish the look with ankle booties: a chunky-heeled lace-up with a military/moto vibe gives this an edgy grunge twist (and acts as a counterweight to any sweet florals), while a classic jodphur (pron: jahd-per) boot evinces laidback refinement. Do it Becky’s way and ditch the baubles. But feel free to add a leather backpack or a chain-handled crossbody for carrying all your necessary flotsam and jetsam ;). Happy styling!
I just recently saw a look with a sweatshirt layered under a trench coat done by one of my favorite fashion bloggers and ever since I’ve been obsessed not only with wearing such a look, but also with creating one here. When I saw this pairing from Barbie, I was totally on board! Her version is super laidback and maybe a bit chilly for those of us in colder climes, so I metamorphosized it a bit to make it autumn and polished-event (or work)-friendly. Barbie’s plaid shirt, knotted 90’s-style at her waist, gets transformed into the collared under-layer of the sweatshirt, giving it a dressier vibe. Pale gray shorts become black (or gray or dark blue wash) slim denim. With a cropped sweatshirt like Barbie’s, leaving the plaid shirt un-tucked balances the proportions and adds extra color (an also addresses that whole work-appropriate thing). With a boxy, oversize piece, consider tucking the shirt in...or jettisoning it entirely :). To cement the casually chic feel, top the ensemble with a blazer. A classic silhouette will do nicely. Alternatively, go with a double-breasted version for a power vibe and the visual interest of the extra hardware. For less dressed-up events, skip the jacket and add interest on the bottom: leather leggings, slim tuxedo-striped pants, pieces with lace-up, button or hardware details – anything with polish, edge or both! Keep the baubles simple and chill: an initial pendant or other necklace with personal meaning is all you need. While Barbie’s concert-ready iteration could be finished with sneakers, this version gets a shot of panache from ankle boots. Classic black leather is an always-chic go-to, while velvet (how fab is does this deep blue look?! Sims here and here) makes a gorgeous and trendy option. Other pairings include back patent for modern attitude or a heeled, lug-sole moto or hiking boot for a totally fun and unexpected grunge twist. I love the fiercer vibe that cool neutrals (black, gray, navy, ivory) provide, but classic red or black watch plaids (the latter being a combo of navy and hunter) would be equally fitting. Happy slaying, loves!
This black monochrome look from Nikki was among the transitional outfits that signaled the advent of greater sophistication in her style. It highlights her core fashion principles: modern, chic, sexy and looks totally fierce! My guess is, though, that if she were styling this genre of look today, she’d make a few changes that would show her more honed and mature fashion sense. How might she do it? Well :)…
The simplicity of the look lets it translate excellently over the years; a few small tweaks would be more than enough to update it! The formula is a dose of urban, minimalist chic injected with a shot of sexiness. While then, that was represented with a leather-panelled mini skirt and a cut-out cropped top, today I think Nikki would reach for a midi pencil skirt: same sleek lines, far greater sophistication. Or, she might reach for a full-on leather skirt…perhaps with a statement detail, like a laced-up faux wrap or buttons. On top, she’d trade the cut-out tee for a classic sleeveless shell, an off-the-shoulder or boatneck tee or a bodysuit (possibly with a sheer detail). The black-on-black color palette she’d keep! But, she’d spice it up a bit with scarlet nails instead of cranberry and a flame lip. The major switch would almost certainly be in footwear. Then, Nikki completed the look with knee-high leather boots – plenty hot, but she’s since upped her shoe game dramatically! These days, she’d go for the dark drama of ankle booties in patent leather (see a similar here for the pair shown), the fun glamour of fur-embellished sandals or the iconic fabulosity of Chinese red pumps. As the weather turned chillier, she’d toss a varsity bomber jacket or simple cropped blazer with a strong shoulder-line over the top. And she might just reiterate her trademark red with a bold, massive pair of earrings or a statement ring. Feel like doing the look of today’s Nikki? Break out the black pencil skirts and slim tees, babes! Add a chic, urban shoe and a classic red lip and get that fearless feeling! Happy styling :) Carmella’s striking red outfit makes good use of her particular bland of urbanity and sporty sensibilities. Her red cuffed sweatpants, sports bra, cropped short-sleeved jacket, baseball cap and sneakers work divinely in the ring, walking the line between street-wear and ring gear flawlessly. But how to her athletic-meets-city aesthetic for non-WWE moments? Well, this is what track pants were made for, darlings. Grab your nearest handy pair. Polished sweats (they have a zipper or button front, maybe racing stripes, a fancy detail like a satin pocket. They do not have your favorite sports team’s name or logo. They do not say “PINK” anywhere ;)) will do in a pinch. Next, you need a top that’s a bridge between chilled out and totally cool. Consider a simple tee with an asymmetric hemline or other eye-catching detail (ok, this is where you go for the..well, maybe not a team logo, but a baseball-style tee or jersey with your fave’s number on the back). Update the classic downtown name necklace to a modern bar-style piece, throw on a pile of slim bangles and finish with heels (leather or suede for attitude. Kitten heels are purrfectly acceptable ;)). Alternatively, go for a classic polo. This is admittedly has more of a preppy vibe. Feel free to own that. Add a bit of quirk and fun with a newsboy cap –it’s the more sophisticated cousin of the baseball cap and helps elevate the track pants or sweats (It can be skipped, however, should hats not be your scene today (or any day)). Enhance the athleticism by finishing the look with sneakers. Add statement earrings for just the right dash of sass. The low pony was born to be used with looks such as this, so def give that a try, or any look that’s similarly sleek, yet carefree. One last note: if you just can’t red, consider other Carmell-ian options like leopard, camo, olive or beige.
Alicia's mini Instagram photoshoots let us get a broader view of her style than what we are limited to on WWE programming and for that, I am profoundly grateful! She is always experimenting, always pushing the envelope, always having fun with fashion and I adore her for it! It always thrills me to see what she's dreaming up :). She has a flair for casual style, as we have seen with some of her WWE photoshoots, and she's happy to showcase that for us as well. This look, an easy, slouchy combination of a v-neck tee and destroyed denim, is quite simple, but it still has that je ne se quoi, due to the just-right selection of elements. We don't get to see her shoe choice, which got my fashion brain pondering: how would Foxy complete this look? I can't help but feel that she would interject a shot of her trademark personality. So, when doing denim+tee a la Foxy, how might we style it? For starters, the basic elements: your fave slouchy tee and blue denim. Avoid form-fitting tees here. For that Foxy-esque touch, you need laidback attitude, so go with something broken in, oversized or boyfriend style. The v-neck is encouraged but not required. Stick with a neutral color - that will be important for what happens with accessories ;). There's a summery softness to Foxy's combo of blue denim with her gray top that I love. It's a muted background just made to set off some whimsicality. If you gravitate toward something a bit sharper, go with black denim. Be sure to have a black or gray casual jacket on hand for air conditioning or chilly nights, instead of the classic blue denim piece used above. Go for a slim silhouette, or roll looser fits to 2 inches above your ankle. Ok: tee, jeans, jacket = done. Now, for the fun part! A few short moments of stylish contemplation had me certain that Foxy would finish this look with a colorful shoe. For summer, she might have gone with the striped wedges she wore for her Diva Day Off 'shoot. Or, be-tasselled multi-colored sandals may have been the Lady Fierce's choice. Since we're in the "season" of transitional dressing, sandals are still do-able. Alternatively, consider a pump of many colors (and maybe some sequins! :) ...ok, who said that?) or, give one of fall's hottest trends a try and go for embroidered booties - how yummy are those?! Check your shoe closet for anything off the beaten path, anything you felt was a tad too wild to deal with on a daily basis: those gorgeous but insane embellished Western boots you bought because you loved them but have no clue how to wear (clue procured! :)) (note: if they're above high-ankle height, tuck your jeans into them instead of rolling), those unrealisitically-colored animal-print pumps that you thought were sooooooo cool when you first bought them years ago, madly floral sandals, rainbow-hued sneakers, iridescent peeptoe pumps you bought for your prom and never wore again...anything that's uncommon, extraordinary, attention-grabbing - however you do that, that's what you're looking for here. And the key is that because you're setting it against such a simple, casual, edited background, the crazy isn't crazy...it's just spicy. Or, crazy like a super-stylish Lady Fox ;)
