The Divas were on full slayage mode, as usual, for the promo photoshoot for the newest season of Total Divas! This year’s theme was a modern mix of black and white, with touches of silver. Alexa kicked things off in a sporty coord set that paired a zip-front vest with slashed high waist leggings (from Ultracor, id by fashionofthedivas.tumblr.com). The look got kicked into high gear with the addition of peeptoe ankle booties (though I confess I wouldn’t have minded seeing a really hot pair of sneakers here, either [ok, who are you, Writer Person and what have you done with Brie?]).Touches of gold via a wide bangle and hoop earrings serve to further elevate the styling. In addition to the streamlined, sexy athleticism it projects, this look is especially fun because it’s outside the chill, punk-leaning aesthetic we tend to see Blissy reach for. I love seeing experimentation and she totally rocks this look! Don’t you just adore her confident smirk? :) Carmella’s metallic houndstooth-meets-sheer dress is one of the most eye-catching pieces in the ‘shoot. The mix of fabrics is super-bold and the way they play out on the piece almost feels disjointed. Additionally, I am really, really over the sheer trend. Despite all of that, Mella is selling me on this look – I think she’s one of the few divas who really could pull off something this complex and daring; her confidence and big personality keep the piece in check and let her wear it, not the other way around. Her strappy silver sandals are 100% crave-worthy – please let us see those again sometime soon!
Unfortunately, we don’t get a super-great look at Nia’s outfit here, which is a shame, because it’s an interesting look that she wears well. A knit choker top pairs with a leather mini skirt and OTK boots. My favorite part of the look is the textural play created by her fishnet stockings; they ramp up this look and bring in an unexpected and appealing (not to mention sexy!) twist. The fishnet is fab for an editorial look; to translate this over to daily streetwear, I’d love to see her play with a softer pattern –black-on-black sheer stripes come to mind; lace or subtle polka dots would work too. It would work the same way but shift the subtext of the look from “racy” to “FASHION”. If you dress well, as Nia has here, you don’t have to sell sensuality hard; it just comes. Maryse’s sheer-patterned dress is from House of CB (id by Fashion of The Divas). I love the fact that, even though this is yet another variation on the sheer trend, this one is subtle, with the translucent fabric truly used as embellishment, rather than a “nearly naked dress” application. Maryse cements the more sophisticated interpretation by pairing the piece with strappy black-and-white sandals. The clean, architectural feel elevates the dress dramatically. This is trademark Maryse: chic and powerful, with a shot of sexy thrown in ;). Naomi’s choice was a white cutout jumpsuit, also from House of CB (id by Fashion Of The Divas). The bright white has a wonderful futuristic feel, which she enhanced by adding a wide, metallic waist belt. Silver pumps carried the hint of shine through the outfit. I love how minimalist and fresh this ensemble feels! Naomi looks amazing and completely owns the raw, straightforward fierceness of the styling. The pop of color from her lime green hair complements the look stunningly well. Lana went with a black bodysuit with a deep ‘v’ front, accented with satin bands at the waist. I love the way that detail takes this piece out of the realm of basic pieces. She adds a wide choker for a bit of trend and attitude and completes the look with gorgeous, classic ankle-strap sandals that make my heart sing! Both of those excellent choices still leave the look feeling a shade flat, to my mind though. I’d have loved to see her throw a metallic trench over her shoulders and go with white shoes to bring one more dimension to the look and expand the concept a little more. I went wild back when Natalya first released teaser shots of this look because…BALMAIN. I can’t help getting a thrill when the Divas get to wear high end designers, just to see the way they utilize the pieces and how they make them work – do they keep similar to the runway vibe, do they add their own twist, how do they incorporate their own pieces (or not). Here, Nattie jettisoned the ruffled runway skirt and went for straight fierce with this piece. She topped it with a grommet-embellished leather jacket, also by the brand. Leather OTK boots complete the look with the same vibe. Even though there’s a simplicity to the theme of this look, the uniqueness of the pieces – the wrapped style of the bodysuit and the oversized grommets – give it power and intrigue. The no-holds-barred fashion vie it exudes makes the look my favorite of the ‘shoot and I love the way Nattie carries it. Her personal fashion can often be quite classic, but she tosses in dashes of rock star flamboyance and, with this look, she embraces that vibe full-on and slays it! It was a Balmain kind of day, apparently:) - Nikki also incorporated the brand via a white bandage top. She paired it with a black zippered mini skirt with a multitude of cutouts. The top is so dramatic that I can’t help but wish she had gone for a simpler piece on the bottom and created contrast via texture – a latex pencil skirt, or a studded leather piece would have carried a little more sophistication. Her shoe choice, though, is absolute perfection: those gold-embellished peeptoe pumps are heaven! I also love the sleek polish of her high pony. A wide black bangle provides the finishing touch for this daring look. I’ve raved previously over sister Brie’s pieced bodysuit, but I need to take a moment over those sandals (again, actually, because we first saw them on Nikki at the 2016 ESPY’s). These studded ankle cuff sandals embody everything I adore about recent St Laurent: rock-tinged, darkly gorgeous, addictively fierce. Kim: As a pretty die-hard Total Divas fan since day 1, I always look forward to the promotional videos/images that come with each season. I absolutely loved the simple, black and white theme they went with for season 7. The girls all stuck with the same color palette, but we've got leather, sequin, and sheer, oh my! ;) , They all look total-ly amazing, but I have to talk about two of my absolute favs, and TD OG's, Brie and Nikki Bella. Nicole slayed the cameras in a very cut out black skirt, with a large zipper detail, and bandeau white top. Her sleek, high ponytail is fierce af, and she kept it simple with her makeup. I love that she added a little pop of color on her lip. Her stiletto heels have some strappy gold detail which has me swooning. Brie however, traded the cutouts for sheer. This new mama ROCKED this long sleeved, black sheer bodysuit. I'm not 100% sure if the opaque black material underneath is attached to the suit or not, but either way it comes across as a super badass, sexy and fierce look. And do you see her shoes?? Black, strappy and studded. I'm in heaven.
