WM 34 has come and gone, and we've got so much to review! This years show featured 4 matches, 3 on the main card and 1 on the kick off show, that featured the female superstars. Two championships were defended, history was made, and one of the most anticipated debuts happened on the grandest stage of them all. The ring work was incredible, and the fashion wasn't left behind. Kim: We've raved and praised the beauty that is Charlotte Flair's gear many times here on Diva Fierce. Why? Cause it is one of the best in recent WWE fashion gear history! Charlotte has cemented her signature cut and style, and now we get to have fun with colours and shades. For WrestleMania 34, she was dipped in gold, head to toe. How perfectly fitting for The Queen? It almost looked like battle armor. Her new robe is most definitely my favourite part. We've got gold sequin and holographic material together in one glorious, head turning, jaw dropping piece. Bow down to The Queen, indeed! Speaking of head turning, that has always been a phrase I would use to describe Asuka's gear. It's always bright and colourful, as she mixes prints and textures to create one of a kind looks. I love how she really brought out the sequin and glitter for her first WM, including a new blinged out entrance mask. Brie: I wasn’t sure if it would be possible for Charlotte to top her Wrestlemania 33 gear, but this one is equally good! I love that it retains her trademark silhouette, but has a very different look from the peacock-inspired gear. We’ve seen her do gold gear before, but this one stand s out due to its subtle, tasteful flourishes: the teardrop medallions and scrollwork in the tone-on-tone thread give the piece an almost damask-like quality that’s most be-fitting of a queen! She contrasted that ancient-royal-family vibe with the modernity of holographic leaves on her cape which were repeated on her hood and in the bold, armor-like shoulders. It made a fitting warrior-esque counterpoint to the more feminine beauty of her gear. Golden crystals punctuated the shoulder design and the edge of her hood for a magnificent effect. Additionally, her hair looks so utterly gorgeous I can’t even! It’s not easy to vanquish the fashion throngs two years running, but a queen never balks at difficulty. I’m very here for this second round of fabulosity. Brava, Charlotte! I can get behind the crazy patterns and colors of Asuka’s gear, but like many of her previous looks, this is still complex to the eye and feels overwrought. Minus the belt and the pink undies (why, Asuka?), I think this would be a lot of fun and very distinctive. Like Kim, I’m totally in for the sequined mask! That is a awwwwwwwwesome piece and just the kind of slayage that feels right on the Grandest Stage. Kim: Little Miss Alexa Bliss walked into the arena and reminded everyone why she is called The Goddess of the WWE. Her entrance alone had me shook, descending from a platform to the stage below, before walking down to the ring in a totally badass leather and spiked jacket, and jeweled crown. Like Charlotte, Alexa has zoned in on her gear style for quite some time. We've seen her in a similar color combination before, however, for WM she went all in with the sparkle. It's literally everywhere and I kinda love it. Remember when Alexa first debuted in NXT, as baby face and covered in glitter? That's kind of what this reminded me of, but in a way more blissful way. Finally, a small detail that I've always loved about Alexa's gear is the ribbon the ties up the back of her boots. Brie: I am just blown away by Alexa’s look! Girlfriend really cranked it up for the event this year and I love that! She went with her trademark gear silhouette, done in a classic black and silver combination. I’m ttly here for this full-on sparkle rendition. The sequins add movement to the black and make the silver pop with an almost holographic sheen, due to the use of multi-colored crystals rather than just clear. It’s divine choice that has 100% of my heart. Lest that all get too sweet, she topped said amazing gear with a leather trench accented with a variety of silver studs and spikes. I’m in heaven...you could say “fashion bliss” :) It’s a fantasmic cataclysm of punk and glam that has a very Dark Queen vibe, which brings us to that crown! I love the thorn-like projections, the central medallion, the antiqued silver, the gothic tendencies. It’s a flawless accent to an already incroyable look. Blissy smartly didn’t go over the top with her make-up: a bold eye and palest pink lips that echoed her hair color looked gorgeous and powerful without being try-hard. The color coordination throughout the look – between her hair, make-up, the crystals and the coat - is superb. Each element of the look is stellar on its own and in aggregate, the effect is exquisite…with an edge. I love this from head to toe. Standing ovation for Blissy on this! There are some wonderful aspects of Nia’s gear – the black and gold combination is classic and effective, the scroll-work on the gold fabric elevates this gear dramatically, the epaulets are an incredible detail and such a thrill to see. I’m in for the belted train, as well. With so much awesomeness in the mix, I really want to love this gear unconditionally. Unfortunately, something about the placement of the cutouts is striking me a tad oddly. I wish the pattern created was a little simpler and less piece-y. I love the way the upper part creates an empire waist, but I’d love to see the multiple lower cutouts jettisoned for a single triangular piece set with the bottom of the triangle at Nia’s hips. This is a step up from last year’s look though and she’s spot on in adding special details for an event like this. Wrestlemania gear should stand out from ordinary tv event gear and Nia definitely got that memo. I respect this effort and I can’t wait to see where she evolves this look to – I look forward to having my world slayed! Kim: "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey had her very first WWE match at WrestleMania, and she came ready for action. Her entrance gear included a touching tribute to her friend Roddy Piper, who as many of us know, gave Ronda his blessing to carry on the "Rowdy" nickname. Once in the ring, Ronda was 100% ready compete in black shorts, a white sports bra top trimmed with red, with her nickname in gradient yellow to orange lettering. Again, this is done in the same style as Roddy. Nothing too fancy here, but with the smoky eye and ponytail/braids, this look is so fitting for Rousey. There's no doubt, she is a fighter.
Brie: While I found Ronda’s ring gear to be a little plain for the Wrestlemania stage, I’m giving it a pass because of the homage to Roddy Piper. It’s sporty, functional and echoes the original Rowdy One’s look flawlessly. Her make-up helps the look tremendously – the strong smoky eye elevates the look, while still coming off as appropriate for a serious competitor. My favorite part of Ronda’s ensemble was her entrance-wear. The leather jacket and plaid mini skirt, which again paid tribute to Roddy, looked fabulous on her! The intense colors were eye-catching, appealing and suited her perfectly. I loved the double entendre of trendy 90’s grunge that could be read from the look if you happen to be of an age to have missed Roddy’s in-ring career. I look forward to seeing style from Ronda in future that is more personally-inspired, but I love that she took this massive moment to pay tribute to her friend. It was very special and I honor her it. We’ve seen Stephanie’s biker-chick leanings before at Wrestlemania and they were in evidence again this year as she wore a pieced leather and sheer jumpsuit that reminded me of the looks Maryse was experimenting with last year. I love the vest, I love the stud accents at the waist and –especially- the criss-cross pattern at the back. I can’t help thinking, though, that it’s just a touch underwhelming for a stage like Wrestlemania, particularly when I think back to the soaring heights of fabulosity she reached in 2016. Still, the look is athletic and fierce and she rocks it! This concludes Part 1 of our WM 34 gear review, but there still plenty more to come! Stay tuned for Part 2, featuring the ladies who participated in the first Women's WrestleMania Battle Royal & of Count-up of the top gears! xoxo - Kiki & Briezy
