I love the way Becky elevated this simple tee and jeans pairing so easily and effectively by topping it with this intriguing floral bomber! Jackets are one of my favorite – and one of the simplest!- ways to turn an outfit from “something I just threw on” into style. This one has a quirky blend of femininity from the flowers and sportiness due to the stripes. It’s such a strong and fun statement that it immediately gives weight to the look and it touches on the crucial floral trend without being all fancy. It’s simple enough to re-create: boxy tee and slim blue denim (distressed works, un-distressed also works; pick your passion!)create the backdrop. Gray makes a versatile alternative to Becky’s choice of white and keeps the look lighter overall. I would def be on board for doing this with moodier dark tones as well: charcoal, navy, forest green, wine. If you’re shivering just looking at a t-shirt, try this with a sweatshirt (even a hoodie ;)) or an oversize thermal to maintain the super-chill vibe. Or, go with a cable sweater for a nod to the oh-so-trendy 80’s. The floral print has my deep love and appreciation at the moment, but the casual ease of this ensemble can take other directions: play on texture by choosing a quilted topper, enhance the sporty feel with a classic varsity-inspired piece or let your whimsy loose with an animal-embroidered jacket. Since it’s officially fall, finish the look with ankle booties: a chunky-heeled lace-up with a military/moto vibe gives this an edgy grunge twist (and acts as a counterweight to any sweet florals), while a classic jodphur (pron: jahd-per) boot evinces laidback refinement. Do it Becky’s way and ditch the baubles. But feel free to add a leather backpack or a chain-handled crossbody for carrying all your necessary flotsam and jetsam ;). Happy styling!

The ladies of WWE gave us a huuuuge range of fashion as they attended ComicCon this summer. Noelle kept things simple and straightforward by pairing a deep blush cropped halter top with a black pencil skirt. It’s nicely polished and put together for this kind of event and consequently gets a thumbs up from me. We don’t get to see her shoes, but blush sandals would seem to be the most intuitive choice. I can also see adding a touch of hardware with a chain-handled bag for a little extra va-voom. Renee styled leather overalls in a unique way, leaving one side un-buckled for a drapey, casual twist on the standard approach. She layered a bright graphic tee below. Since her styling made her overalls more casual, I think I would have preferred the contrast of a fancier top – a bright silk button-down, multi-color striped tee or band-collared blouse -, but this shade of intense aqua looks marvelous on Renee. I also give her massive props for the creative silhouette. She completed the look with peep-toe ankle boots for just the right dose of fierce. I was shocked to see Becky choose such a formal piece as this metallic jumpsuit; it’s a far cry from the casual attire she often reaches for. It’s not inappropriate, however, and I’m really excited to see her in something so daring. The one-shoulder detail gives it a nice touch of uniqueness and the space-age vibe is quite intriguing. The only thing on my wishlist is that she had finished the look with the grounded fierceness of black: an ankle strap pump, pointy ankle boots, strappy sandals. Charlotte was gorgeous in this cobalt blue mini dress with its fluttery front. I love how perfect this piece is for her body shape; she’s really solidified her game on that front over the last year or so. This type of dress, with its boxier silhouette, really looks best when it’s quite short. The piece accomplishes that while concurrently maintining its professionalism via the high-low hem. Charlotte’s Maddye boots ( x Steve Madden) complete this look in soft, summery style.
Halloween is fast approaching so it’s definitely time to start putting together costumes and ideas! This year, I was inspired by Lana’s Dark Carnival look from last year. It got me wondering how many other photoshoots might be perfect points of departure for that special costume. I did some time-travelling and it turns out there are a fair few that got my creative juices simmering.
Brie caught our attention with this look which encapsulates her trademark boho flair. It pairs an antique rose peplum blouse with flowing sleeves and blue denim. I love Brie's coordinating mauve and periwinkle-gray make-up palette. ANd, of course, who can resist her pucker face? :) A white bead necklace and a gold pendant add polish to this vintage-casual look. She kept that vibe coming with her next outfit, a lovely ivory lace off-the-shoulder dress (the Marissa from Adelyn Rae) with black trim and a black bow at the bodice. I'm especially a fan of the ruffled-and-trimmed hem; there's something so sweetly throwback about that styling! Her low pony kept the look polished, but not overly formal. I would lay good money she completed this look with either black or ivory sandals :).
Brooke was also continuing in bohemian mode, pairing a navy tank with cut-off denim shorts. The highlight for me is the way she updated the look by topping it with a woven ivory fringe vest - it gives the outfit a trendy nod and upgrades the visual interest dramatically. I confess that I could live without the addition of the headband, but I love the laidback earthiness of her caramel sandals! Naturally, I can't do anything but rave over Cathy's outfit here: it has yellow! And what an amazing piece of yellow it is :) This spot on-trend one-shoulder ruffle top is from J. Crew (and is still available (and on sale!) here). She puts into a classic pairing with blue denim. With a statement that vibrant, you don't need much else to complete a look. Cathy adds a rose lip shade and ta-da: done and stylish. That's waaaay too easy, right? Finish with neutral (or yellow! :) I just had to get that in) heels or flats. We got a glimpse of Emma at the Mae Young Classic in a sheer-and-pieced crop top set above a black brassiere and mulberry pants. I'm not generally a fan of bra-baring styles, but I like the way it works here. The look comes off youthful and modern and it works on Emma. She also gets props for her choice of pants. The unusual and beautiful color makes this ensemble much more interesting. It helps her OTK boots to really stand out as well. This is a great look from Emma - it has a fierce, cool-girl vibe without feeling either too fussy or too nonchalant. A number of the Lady Superstars (DIVAS! Had to get that in there. Sorry not sorry ;)) paid tribute to D-Generation X (DX for short) for the stables' 20th anniversary in a recent photoshoot for WWE.com. If you're a new WWE fan, it might be hard to feel the impact DX had, but they were 100% awesome and hilarious and you need to check out some of their old skits on youtube. Also their wrestling :). DX went through various configurations, but it's anchor members were Triple H and Shawn Michaels, so they're the two I think of when anyone mentions DX. And that's not all I think of -in addition to the innuendo-laden humor, the duo created several infamous catchphrases and gestures ("Let's get ready to s**k it!", "If you're not down with that, I've got two words for ya: s**k it!", the crotch chop, the crossed-arm 'X'). The ladies have paid accurate homage to many of them, including Naomi doing the glow-stick version of the X and Bayley doing the crossed-arm symbol. Charlotte and Becky put their own spin on the iconic duo's repertoire, re-styling it as Tea-Generation X, complete with sipping hand gestures. It should be silly, but it comes off as quite cute and an appropriate homage to the kind of terrible pun Shawn and Trips loved and utilized habitually. Sasha wins Fierce points for nailing Shawn's signature smug stance, while Charlotte gets a ladle-full for re-creating the duo's trademark flex. The dress code is 100% DX-approved: it's all variations of DX shirts (tees, tanks and cut-up muscle tops) paired with denim (Naomi went for killer side-lace-up shorts, Becky and Charlotte for full-length styles, all in classic blue wash) or ring gear (Sasha chose her ivory, black and gold shorts, while Bayley went for her cerulean, baby pink and gold pants). The ladies did an awesome job of capturing the wise-cracking, in-your-face attitude of WWE's somewhat smarmy, but incredibly successful degnerate duo! Definitely go check it out. And if you're not down with that...well, I've got two words for ya: sip it! (or stick it...or style it...or..heck I could do this all day :))
There's always room around here for some gear-love and we're celebrating the MITB ring-ensemble stylishness with this FashionHap.
Charlotte kicked things off with an amethyst version of her Wrestlemania look. I love this color combination just as much! It's luxe and oh so beautiful, visually cohesive and artistically stunning. Char has a talent for choosing colors that work brilliantly, both on her and within the backdrop and it's in evidence again here. And this gorgeous design is just as compelling as in its previous variation. Lana wore a magnificent blue and silver attire that she gave us a chance to break down in-depth in her Slayed By The Blue photoshoot here. When her in-ring skills catch up to her fashion skills, she is going to be a devastating competitor :) I can't wait! Carmella literally floored me with this look! I was wondering what she was going to do to turn her Staten Island Priciness look into something special for MITB and did she ever deliver! The metallic mint and ice green was a surprising and aesthetically appealing choice that I instantly loved -even before I realized the pattern was made from money. Omg -so brilliant! It has that designer vibe that has been so prevalent lately of making a beautiful-looking print out of a whimsical pattern. In addition, it's utterly befitting of her character. The black printed waistband was another designer nod that felt appropriately street-worthy, as did the sports-bralette styling of her top. She completed the look with white sneakers that were a perfect finish. Magnificent job! Becky has the right idea with the medieval-warrior direction her look is taking. It just seems to be taking a bit to come to full fruition. From Chandra Nalaar to Ygritte-meets-Angel Dust with a dash of Merida, she seems like a concoction of lovable fighter characters that just needs that one ingredient, that unifying conceptual direction to crystallize into the one true Becky. This wide-belted leather trench is a flawless example of the good. It's medieval, yet modern, tough but with a swirling yin power that makes her look like a warrior queen. First, I apologize for the extreme tardiness of this review...and I take back every griping thing I ever said about Joey Styles. Then again, he gets paid to get the pics up and I don't earn zip from this labor of love I fit in around life, animals and a real job. So, actually, I don't take back anything I said about him after all :). Second, I'm laughing at myself as I'm posting this review. You would never believe how many times I've re-done the collages because my placements keep changing as I analyze and weight the looks. This is HARD, babes! Every year, so many ladies come out here and slay and somehow I have to distill it all into some kind of order. It's cray! And it's also fun. And I'm usually hella proud of the list when I finally get done, probably because I fight so hard to make it accurate and justify each placing. As always, I feel the need to mention that I madly adore each of these divas and root for all of them to rock the ravishing red lane of fame. I love it every time they do! That being said...
