Festival season is upon us and even if you're not headed to the warm and sunny West to hear indie and epic bands play their hearts out in the great, open expanses of the desert, you can still be inspired by the thought :). Brie's boho printed shift struck me as the perfect piece for a festival show - cool, comfortable and free spirited! Go for a shift (a dress with a more open cut) as opposed to a curve-kissing sheath. Some shifts have a boxy silhouette, which can be quite flattering if the fabric is flowy (like silk), while others flow away from the body in an A-line shape, which works with almost any fabric. The latter cut is my favorite. Be sure to pick a statement-type piece with a fab, intricate print. Paisley immediately comes to mind, but mandalas or other geometrics will work nicely as well. A long neutral cardigan and/or fringed scarf add a touch of warm for cool desert nights...or nippy spring days ;). Amp up the wild-at-heart vibe with suitable and beautiful accessories: dream catcher earrings, a bright seed bead bracelet or an of-the-moment choker (consider one with a pretty drop pendant or colored velvet for an authentic touch). Finish the look with functional boots - the kind you can walk over festival grounds in for hours at a time: low-heeled ankle booties or flat knee-highs in a color that coordinates with your dress's tones. And voila: you're ready for Coachella! ...or, at least you look like you are. Ya know what they say: fake it 'til ya make it, loves! In the meantime, rock on with yo' style :) #LightersUp

Wrestlecon came to Dallas the same week as WrestleMania, so it was truly a wrestling takeover of Texas! It also brought out stars by the airplane load...which meant more fashion for us! :) Oh, darn.
Brooke showed off two outfits at Wrestlecon. The first was this wine sheath, which she paired with lace-up gladiator heels (shove over, Kendall :)). I love the warmth of the burgundy-with-caramel combo - doesn't that just sound so inviting and decadent? A lariat necklace and a pretty headband brought out the bohemian feel to this earthy color pairing. Next up was Brooke's take on the L(ong)BD, as she went with a black maxi dress, finished off with a beaded statement necklace. The look is uncomplicated, but amazing! I also commend Brooke wholeheartedly for her adorable and modest poses. I love how she's let us know about her forthcoming arrival, but doesn't make her belly the center of attention. It's refreshing and beautiful to see how's she's handled this. I didn't know it was possible to respect her more than I did previously...but I do. Very best wishes, Brooke...as always! Also during WM week came NBC's Summer Press Day, which included Barbie Blank-Souray, wearing a stunning midi LBD. The color and silhouette of this sheath is ultra-classic, but the straps at the bodice create the impression of a sexy cutout, making it oh so modern! It's a perfect representation of the best of Barbie's style - chic, but with a dash of sass! She finished the look with au courant slim ankle strap sandals of the SW Nudist or SL Jane variety - flawless choice! We've seen Natalya's incredible HoF dress...but did you know she topped it with a leather jacket en route to the venue? Tres cool! Even cooler is who she ran in to: Velvet Sky, who was in town for Wrestlecon. Velvet paired this graphic print tunic with black leggings for her trademark grunge-glam look. I love the flutter sleeve on her tunic - sooo pretty! Rose pink lips and nails give the whole ensemble a bright pop. As a prelude to all the hoopla of WrestleMania week, Heyman's Hustle released the second part of their photoshoot with Summer. The original set included her snaps in this beautifully blooming field. Her look was simple - a pale peach tunic, unadorned. With her long, flowing tresses, the whole vibe of the shoot was carefree and natural. The amazing outdoor setting, with it's pure light -usually possible only in the early hours of the morning- and vibrant flowers really made these snaps come alive. The soft color of Summer's outfit melded perfectly with the untamed background, creating an elevated girl-next-door vibe. Her poses are simple and sexy and they work! The only tweak I would have made is to have gone with a tawnier lip shade than this clean pink tone. The color works fantastically, though, in the part 2, where Summer switches her sweet dress for a fierce shiny black crop top. Lace-trimmed unmentionables complete this look, which definitely amps up the va-va-voom from Look 1. The rock wall setting helps convey this tougher attitude nicely. As with the first set, Summerdoesn't take a ton of risks with her poses, but the ones she does come off brilliantly. There's no diva in WWE who can play with her hair in a 'shoot like Summer! Girlfriend has it down to a (very seductive) science! Her obvious comfort and confidence in front of the camera makes both sets of snaps compelling...and gorgeous!
If you, like me, count yourself among those souls who deeply miss the WWE fashion of Michelle McCool, prepare to spend a few moments in heaven! We're devoting an entire post to the stle of the blonde beauty, replete with her WrestleMania fashion and a check-in on her current endeavors. It will probably culminate in our fervent (on bended knee...tears not optional) plea for her to return to WWE (in any capacity) which she will dismiss - should she deign to see it - with flawless iciness and a Regina-George-worthy put-down...which we will savor as if it was effusive praise ("She insulted me!...It was aaaaawesome!")
We start off on a slightly off-key moments from WM week. Michelle chose this extreme cutout mini dress with patterned sequin embellishments for the Hall Of Fame. Black is a definite departure for her in terms of her red carpet fashion game (which I always felt wasn't necessarily where her style shone). I like that she chose something unexpected, however, and also that even though it was black, it was far from a standard LBD. Ultimately, there's just a little too much going on here to make me really love this look. I DO love her high bun, though! This sleek, polished hairstyle is one Michelle always rocks and it's simplicity was an intelligent choice to pair with this dress. If workout looks are your jazz, you should be as wild over this look as I am - a mesh halter bralette? Take me to the gym, Master! I love the raw, fierce power of this piece. Pair it with simple black shorts and that's all you need to slay...everything! If everything isn't enough for you, try doing this dimensional braid a la Michelle. It's killer gorgeous - both with athletic gear and with more formal styles, like this metallic shift and statement collar ensemble. Tiny diamond studs bring a hint of shine and attitude in both cases. Of course, you rock diamond studs at the gym ...because...flawless! :) One of the interesting fashion features of WrestleMania this year was just how many looks involved white shirts! White is always classic for spring, but some years it's a bit more to the forefront than others and this year is one of the former. No less than four Divas (sorry WWE, it's more workable than "Superstars") were seen sporting the look. Most of the ladies chose it for meet-n-greets or similar events, while Brie wore it out an about in Dallas. Eva Marie paired her classic white slouchy tee with black denim, OTK's and a cropped jacket. The jacket really pulls this look together. The whole pairing isn't ground breaking, but it's solid, cool, casual style, totally event-appropriate and works perfectly. Becky went with a pretty overlay tee matched with black jeans. I like that she chose a top with some visual interest; the flowy quality of the top is graceful and unexpected and makes a nice contrast with the tougher texture of the denim. Her chain-like bracelet injects a bit of attitude. Tamina skipped her tough-chic style sensibilities for a refined look, pairing this black blazer with her white tee. It looks like denim formed the bottom half of her outfit, as well. Her slim sliver necklace elevates her look still more. As with Eva's outfit, this pairing isn't earth-shattering, but it's completely appropriate and well-executed, which always wins points from me! Brie's more casual look involved a white, cropped tank, paired with destroyed skinny denim and pristine white sneakers. With the Divas, we don't get to see really stylish looks that include sneakers, even though it's a strong fashion trend right now. Generally, they save sneakers for gym time or non-fashion moments, so it's really amazeballs to see Brie working them with her usual stellar sense or style and completely nailing this look. This is how you casual without being boring and sneakers without looking like you just rolled out fo bed and threw on whatever was on your floor :)
They both have a superb sense of style, they both were WWE title holders, they both retired and came back and now, they both have their own photo galleries on WWE.com :) The Big Dub said goodbye to Brie and hello to Maryse by posting a curated set of snaps for each lady to be respectively remembered and reintroduced by. Both galleries are well worth a look. Brie's includes a number of gear shots - remember this Britney-inspired ensemble that rocked our world with it's mad glam? Oggh...the glory days :) There's a great selection of the more current plaid, houndstooth and athletic-inspired stylings, including some unseen shots. All the feels, loves, all the feels. Why you do this to us, WWE?
I love the style principles expressed in Lana's look here. Playing with varying levels of formality always appeals to me. She's taken one of WWE's coolest tees - Naomi's "Feel The Glow" top - and modified it to a cropped style with a V-neck. Matched with a sailor mini skirt and a satin peplum jacket, the super-casual tee tones down the more polished pieces and gives them a quirky, attitudinal twist. Bright shoes add an extra pop of interest. To go graphic a la Lana, head over to WWEShop.com and pick up a Feel The Glow tee ;)...or, start with any graphic tee you have. You can do a slouchy half-tuck for occasions that require a bit of modesty or do a DIY-crop by knotting it at your waist or above. Any neutral pencil type (not bandage/tube) skirt will work on the bottom, even if it's not a mini. Knee length is an equally functional proportion. For fabric, think cotton sateen, twill, finely woven wool or a hefty jersey - anything with a refined feel to contrast with the streetwise chill vibe of the tee. You can also go with a flared or circle skirt. Again, a mini length will work, so will to-the-knee and midi. Wide pleats do wonderfully and don't be shy about using a tulle or lace piece if that floats your ducks ;.) You can ttly do this sans jacket on warm days, but for chillier ones, consider a classic and casual black denim one. Leather or a satin-y bomber are other fab alternatives. Pop the look by picking shoes in one of the shades that's in your tee...or, if your tee is all-neutral, just go for a color you love wearing. Bright lips and nails bring in a trendy 80's redux feel. If your tee has multiple colors, like the one I selected, pick a nail shade that blends the two for a sophisticated color story. Hope this inspires you to try some graphic content in your look ;) Happy styling!
