WWE Photo Gallery: Dominance Squared

6/3/2018

WWE recently released a photo gallery showcasing some of the most dominant duos in sports entertainment. Naturally, they included my favorite pair: LayCool, and coincidentally also one of my favorites snaps of the devious ladies (I had nothing to do with this, I swear!).  This fabulous wordy white tank paired with black shorts is from one of their series of Famous & Flawless ‘shoots. We just don’t get moments like this nowadays *nostalgic sigh*. I love what the ladies are doing now, but I miss the fashion-high of those days. Can’t lie. The ‘shoot was so well put together, with fantastic style (crystal-covered belts added a shot of glam to this chill look) and gorgeous, fierce poses. Even against the simple black backdrop, this set had such a powerful effect! Mickie is an established queen of the ring these days, but back when she debuted, she was  best known as Trish Stratus’ biggest fan, eventually earning her place as Trish’s tag partner.  With the significant skills of both ladies, they became a serious force in the Divas’ division in no time! Trish’s girl-next-door vibes perfectly matched Mickie’s Americana-hottie looks, making for sexy, effervescent photoshoots and in-ring moments.

Diva-Fierce.com's 2018 Hall Of Fame Fashion Review (It Concludes!)

I’m going to do something a little different this year: instead of releasing the Hall Of Fame Review in one fell swoop, I’m going to keep adding a new group to the post each day. This will let me get the post up sooner ( I reeeeaaaly don’t want to be doing the HoF in June again!) and lets me devote time to each review and not feel like I’m rushing to get it all done so I can get the post up.
Every year, this is probably the most difficult review I do. There are always so many killer looks that I’m splitting hairs and weighing miniscule differences to determine who lands where on the count-up. The only choice that was easy this year was the top spot. I knew that placing immediately after going through all the looks the first time. Who earned that nod? Well, stick with me :). We kick things off with the ladies who I loved, save for one something or other.

Inspiration Board: Charlotte -Transistional Florals

We first saw Charlotte wear this gorgeous floral dress back in June of last year , when she styled it with flat thong sandals. It was a blast seeing her work with flats, which we don't see from many Divas (ok,. ok, Lady Superstars :)), outside of sneakers. It was a wonderful way to dress this garden-y piece down. I love that she re-used it...and I love even more that she re-styled it. And especially HOW she re-styled it. The flats were great; these heeled combat boots are FIERCE - a totally fabulous way to temper the delicacy of the design and silhouette. Recreate this concept with your favorite floral dress: long sleeve, short sleeve, sleeveless, it's all good! No floral dress? No problem. Lace, eyelet and embroidered pieces all work - all you need here is a dress that shades to the sweet side (feel free to do this with a maxi skirt and a matching blouse, as well!). Then add boots as a counterpoint. Give the look a festival vibe with flat pairs, especially in earthy brown or beige shades. Add practical-but-fun stars stud earrings to complete the look, or ramp up the bohemian connotation with beaded or tasselled earrings to complete the look.  (Flower crowns 100% acceptable as well :))  Weather still a bit nippy for sleeveless pieces? Np - toss an on-trend blue denim jacket on top. Alternatively, go for a harder edge in your look by completing it with combat, lace-up or moto style  boots in black (hardware is a yes!). Because the harsher shade can take over a look when set against a light floral, make sure to echo it elsewhere to carry the color through the look - especially if there's no black in the dress' fabric. Statement earrings or stacked slim rings will work fabulously, as will a waist belt - both narrow and wide pieces do the trick, so pick your passion. Chilly mornings and evenings? See above re: topping the look with a classic denim jacket - they're just the right weight for transitional weather. Happy styling, loves!

WM 34 has come and gone, and we've got so much to review! This years show featured 4 matches, 3 on the main card and 1 on the kick off show, that featured the female superstars. Two championships were defended, history was made, and one of the most anticipated debuts happened on the grandest stage of them all. The ring work was incredible, and the fashion wasn't left behind.

OMG this blouse from Barbie! I’ve been crushing on floral appliqué pieces like this for about a year now and this one will fit right in to my fantasies! I love the color scheme, the gorgeous mix of sizes in the flowers and the off-shoulder silhouette. Barbie paired it with a black mini skirt that highlights the fact that she has legs for days…months actually. Her wide choker makes a strong, solid counterpoint ot the delicacy of her top and loosely echoes the fabric of her skirt, tying the look together perfectly. Barbie finished off the fabulosity with beautiful, delicate ankle-tie sandals that I would take home in a heartbeat. So basically, this is a total win.
Cathy attended New York Fashion Week, looking every bit like a fashion editor in this velvet tee and cropped dot-hem cropped pants. I love the play on textures here – it gives extra depth to this nearly monochrome look. She added a black and white chain-handled bag which echoed the polka dots on her pants and completed the outfit with strappy black sandals that had just the right balance of softness and structure. I’m not generally big on red eyeshadow – I feel like its really tough to pull off and can just make you look like you’ve been crying – but here, I’m enjoying the fashion-forward vibe it adds to this styling. Note: she also wore a red-rose-on-white printed mini dress from Chi Chi London, paired with red snake ankle booties and it looked amazing! Check out the snap here at fashionofthedivas.tumblr.com).
Charlotte shared this snap of her simple but impactful monochrome outfit on Instagram. As with Cathy’s look, a textural play gives interest and power to this all-black look. Instead of luxe velvet on top, it’s fierce and sexy latex on the bottom that serves as the contrast piece. Char paired the statement leggings with a shoulder-baring minimalist black halter top and added a shot of attitude with her studded Jeffrey Campbell Lita boots. This is simple done just right!
Wearing yellow is a great way to catch my eye and Liv sure did with this rendition of her gear. The highlighter shade gives a fun 80’s pop to her black and white graphic tee – which sports fierce slashed shoulders! –and star-lined leggings. The destroyed aspect just adds to the punk attitude. She completed the look with white sneakers that featured black laces and a streak of canary yellow to tie everything together. I love this from head to toe! And speaking of heads, how super cute is Liv’s hair here?! Love it!

I’m kind of in love with Carmella’s totally fierce look involving this black mini dress from Hstlr. The piece features lace-up detailing at the sides that serves to create a dramatic shape. The style also includes a hoodie, but I like Carmella’s choice to style the look without using it. The hoodie would have made the vibe much more casual and I’m head-over-heels for this exactly as is! It has that perfect blend of attitude, sportiness and fashionable edge that’s just everything. Carmella finished the look with mid-calf booties, which work just as well as OTKs for creating that powerful shot of stylish dynamism that makes a look brilliant and memorable.
Cathy’s style sensibilities cover a wide range of genres. She began January with this beautiful and feminine blue floral lace mini dress. I love the fabric of this piece so much -it’s just divine! This large, pieced lace has been super on-trend over the last few seasons, but this kind of classic material will remain a perfectly wearable statement for years. The colors – a spectrum of blues – are lovely as well and look wonderful on Cathy. If I could wish for anything, it would be that she had pulled her hair back and given the dress an uninterrupted moment. From there, she swings into casual mode, donning a pair of medium wash denim overalls. She layered a high-neck top underneath and completed the look with black pointy ankle booties. This look is another gem – casual, but with a slouchy, unstudied feel to it that slays me. She has the overalls rolled to the precisely the right height to create enviably breezy chic. I’d have been tempted to go with a messy bun here, instead of the center-parted low pony, but the latter works excellently. She then moved on to some rock n’ roll vibes with these barn red leather pants. They bring a unique and intriguing attitude to the off-shoulder black top she styled them with. Black pointy ankle booties are her go-to finisher again and they look just as fab here. It’s back to casual with this next look, a distinctly off-duty ensemble that paired a cropped black top with medium-wash blue denim for a simple canvas.  She then gives the outfit a dose of on-trend elevation via a beige car coat. She echoes its light tones with her block-heeled ankle booties, while reprising her top color via her bag. The color balance she created here appeals to me - I would tend to do the same.

FashionHap: Oh Hey There, December, Pt. II

Cathy went for denim-on-denim in this December snap, pairing a button-down in a medium wash with dark skinny bottoms. She connected the two with a black leather belt and completed the look with banana yellow pumps, which naturally I love :). That said, the styling feels like it’s missing a little something. I would have liked her shoes and belt to be matchy-er ( a classic interpretation that’s very effective), or the addition of an accessory in a light shade to connect the whole look. She utilizes the belt again for her next look, this time connecting dark skinny denim to a shoulder-baring striped top. Here, her black wedge sandals make the look feel quite cohesive, while her burgundy tasseled bag adds a fun touch of whimsy.
We saw Charlotte do a very similar look to this back in September, except that here she went with wide leg pants instead of skinnies. I like the change and the very sophisticated vibe of the duster coat with the flowing pants. The one small tweak I would make is to do a full tuck with her blouse (or add a belt) to define her waist more. It would have pulled the look together, given it a solid focal point amid all the pieces with movement and made it feel a shade more polished and chic.
Sadly, we don’t get a really good look at this ensemble from Alicia, worn during her visit to Iraq this winter, but frankly when I see a studded jacket and OTK boots, I’m generally in right there. It looks like Foxy added a black top beneath all that fierceness and then threw in her customary fabulous twist by adding a floppy fedora. The color unites the look, while the variety of elements and unexpected accessory keep it fresh and intriguing. Trademark Foxy slayage. She was at it again, albeit with a much more casual take, in her next outfit, which paired a white tee with leather leggings, topped with a striped scarf and a faux-fur trimmed cropped moto jacket in a natural canvas-tone. She completed the look with fur-lined mid-calf boots and added a baseball cap in coordinating hue for good measure. I love how this look feels so easy and unstudied and yet retains a quiet glamour at the same time. It also happens to be a flawless use of winter white shades.
